This brings the war close to our home. Some of our Uncles, Aunts and cousins still reside in the old country. As this is being written the radio brings the sorrowful tidings that the little town is being sacked and burned by the retreating Nazis. We are not the only family to suffer such experiences. Almost all of us have some relative or friend who is in the pathway of the conflict. Somewhere in the recesses of our memory can be found an ancestral land mark that is enduring the ravages of the aggressors. All of us are touched directly or remotely by the horrors of war. But regardless of these sorrows we in America have much to be thankful for. We can be thankful that we live in a land which is not being destroyed by the destructive forces; for freedoms holy light; for the blessings of liberty; for the millions of sons and daughters who have gone forth to fight the eternal battle for liberty; for the victories that have been ours. On Thanksgiving day let's say a prayer for the boys over there and give thanks to a Bountiful Providence for blessings we have received.
