VICTORY’S SONS
The Landing Boat carrying Corp. Franklin Koons, 23, one-time farm boy, was heading for the dangerous French coast. Suddenly firing starts. German trawlers had encountered the British landing party. Koons and three other American Rangers and a detachment of Commandos wade to shore. Ahead looms a 75-foot cliff which they must storm. Barbed wire confronts them, but they blow a path through it and sweep on.
At a cross road a German patrol opens up. Koons aims and fires—the first American soldier to fire on German troops in Europe since the "cease firing" order of November 11, 1918.
Gaining a point of vantage in a farm building, Koons battles snipers while Commandos attack and destroy German batteries. When the Commandos clear out with their wounded, Koons volunteers for rear guard action—a target for snipers. He reached his boat just as it was pulling out.

HOUSEWIVES!
I too am a housewife with a house and family to look after. Like everyone else I wanted to help win this war, but I couldn't work all day and take care of my family.
On the four hour shift I am now working at the DOUGLAS ANAHEIM FEEDER SHOP,
I help build parts for the Flying Fortress and Cargo Planes. The work is easy and the 4 hours whiz by in no time, leaving me plenty of time and energy for my shopping, housework, and to look after my family. The extra money comes in handy in helping our budget meet the increased living costs.
You will enjoy this work. We need still more people to help build these vital parts. Come in and see our Personnel Representative at 406 So. Los Angeles St., Anaheim, any day except Sunday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. He will tell you about the work and how you can help by working one of the convenient four hour shifts.
