WAC Finance Department Needs More Women Now
WACs compute payrolls, operate checkwriters and keep records on travel and furloughs for the United States Army, but the trouble is, there just aren't enough WACs doing it.
That's why Uncle Sam is conducting a campaign to enroll 70,000 women into the Army before December 7, the second anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Of course Uncle Sam doesn't need 70,000 women in the finance department, but he could certainly use a goodly number of them. This is but one of 55 branches of work in which the WAC may take jobs that are now being held by men needed for combat duty.
Women who have any qualifications along this line, and are between the ages of 20 and 50 years, have good health and no dependents, are urged to apply to the WAC office for information concerning the service.

Air Forces Are Opened to WACS
The Army Air Forces are inaugurating a nation-wide campaign to recruit women for the WAC under a new plan whereby women enlisting in the WAC may request assignment to the Air Forces.
During the Army Air Forces recruiting campaign, eligible women designating the Army Air Forces as a branch of their choice will be permitted also, to choose the type of job for which they wish to be recommended for assignment.
A list has been compiled of eighteen occupational fields embracing more than 100 Army Air Forces positions. From this list, qualified volunteers may select a field for which they are most fitted and in which they are most interested. Jobs at which WACs will be assigned include link trainer operator, radio operator and mechanic, weather observer and control tower operator.
WACs, through volunteering under the new program to enlist Air-WACs, will be subject to overseas service as are soldiers. They will also have the same opportunities for attendance at officer's candidate school as WACs in other branches.

What You Buy With WAR BONDS
Holy Stone
Cleanliness is the first order of every American soldier and sailor and the United States Government spends millions upon millions of dollars to keep our fighting men as clean and as healthy as circumstances will permit.
"Swab the deck!" cries out a petty officer and the men fall to with their "holy stone" equipment and in a short time everything is spick and span.
Buy War Bonds and more War Bonds and you know that you are sharing in the effort that will free the world from war lord domination.

Urge Cooperation In Dimout Areas
Southland motorists operating vehicles in the coastal "low beam" areas are urged by the Automobile Club of Southern California to cooperate fully with the eased restrictions announced by the Western Defense Command.
Due to the shortage of manpower and materials, the "dim out" signs will remain in place for the time being, as will the markers instructing motorists that they are leaving the restriction zone and may operate on full beam. The signs now show boundaries of areas where low or depressed beams may be used.
In urging compliance with the new regulations, the Automobile Club warned motorists further to check the low beam lights serving their vehicles to make sure both headlights are working.
From now until April 30, the liberalized restrictions are applicable from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. From May 1 to September 30, the "in force" hours range from one hour after sunset to one hour before sunrise.
