Bonelli Calls For Reduced Taxes;
Says State Deficiency Is Paid Off
Speaking recently before a
meeting of the League of California cities, William G. Bonelli,
member of the state board of equalization, advocated a decrease in sales tax and use tax rates in the state because "the huge increase of revenue from sales tax, together with decrease of relief costs has enabled the state to pay off its deficiency of $87,993,262.00 in two years."
Continuing, Bonelli said, "Our local taxpayers who are now fac- ed with the problem of self-preservation because of colossal defense programs being carried by our federal agencies, will have their backs broken, and there will be a breakdown of city, county, and state revenues unless the ex- action of local government is decreased to offset the new tax load."

GREATER ANAHEIM
Anaheim Foursquare Gospel Minister Presents Pre-Easter Service Series
Rev. H. E. Fisher, author and theologian of the Anaheim Four-square church will begin the first of a series of four services Sunday evening at 7:15 o'clock to run up to and including Easter Sunday.
The four services will only be held on the four Sunday evenings up to Easter, with the program this Sunday on "The Life of St. Paul," portrayed in sound motion pictures.
"In these troublesome times," Rev. Fisher said in commenting on the program, "when no man knows what sacrifices he must make for his convictions, we may well look to the example set by St. Paul, and take courage."
The drama which begins Sunday is composed of five episodes totaling nine and one half reels. Treated dramatically, the scriptures come to life before the audience, as each character speaks his or her parts.
