THE national program to conserve gasoline, oil, tires, and automotive equipment would be aid tremendously with a reduction of the current operating speed of vehicles, the letter pointed out, at the same time providing a safety measure in the operation of motor vehicles, "particularly those with other than new tires."
In its appeal to the President, the auto club urged that the proclamation or executive order creating the 40 mile an hour limit in the United States "be made applicable during the entire war emergency, or until such time as the existing sales restrictions may be relaxed."
