ANAHEIM GAZETTE Established 1870 HENRY KUCHEL, Editor and Publisher 1887-1935 Mrs. Henry Kuchel Theodore B. Kuchel Editors and Publishers The Anaheim Gazette has been owned and edited by the same family since 1875. Published every Thursday at 259 East Center Street, Anaheim, California. Subscription Per Year, $2.00 — Six Months $1.00 Entered as second-class matter at the Post Office at Anaheim, California, under the Act of March 8, 1879. See Your Duty and Do It America is at war. For the first time since 1812 we have bee nthe victims of an attack upon our dominions. The unprovoked attack of Sunday, December 7, 1941, by the Imperial Japanese forces, while their diplomatic emissaries were still in Washington making peaceful gestures, was answered at once by President Roosevelt who asked and was given, within a few hours, a declaration of war. Today, comes word that Germany and Italy have also declared war upon the United States. The time for action is here. The time for debate is over. The American people stand united behind their Government, their Army, Navy and Air force. President Rocsevelt has called upon every American and upon every newspaper to do their duty. Hysteria and false rumors will impede our defense effort and a cool, calm attitude toward this type of sabotage is part of the American public's duty. The nation's press, from the largest to the smallest, too, we feel, will do their full duty in checking all stories as to their factual basis and, also, in seeing that no help or comfort is given to the enemy. The Gazette pledges, in our small way, every assistance it can give to the President and to America. God give us power to see our duty. God give us power to do our duty.
