RETURN FROM ILLINOIS
Mrs. Theodore Kuchel with daughters, Dorothy Jean and Elaine, of 547 S. Lemon st., returned Sunday morning by train from a three weeks' trip to Chicago visiting Mrs. Kuchel's parents, Dr. and Mrs. O. M. Ulvestead.
VISIT SOLDIER BROTHER
Patricia Fassel and Marcela Jordan of Anaheim visited Bud Fassel, Patricia's brother, at Camp San Luis Obispo last week-end. The girls returned Sunday evening and reported that the boys of Company K heard the news of Japan's attack as they came from the mess hall Sunday. Bud is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Fassel of 808 N. Zeyn st.
FURLOUGH CUT SHORT
Jack Neven, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Neven of South Philidelphia st., was forced to return to San Diego Monday where he is a Navy radio operator. He was home on a thirty-day furlough but had to report to his station after he had onyl been home a few days.
SOUTHGATE VISITORS
Mr. and Mrs. Will Gunnell, formerly of Anaheim and now of Southgate, were Sunday supper guests.
SOLDIER BOY HOME
Duane Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. M. Brown of 1223 E. North st., was home last weekend from the Southern California Military academy at Long Beach. On Sunday the Browns visited their son-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Palin, the former Hezella Brown.
LONG BEACH DINERS
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tessner and daughter, Veoda Mae, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Tesner, of Anaheim, had dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Junge of Long Beach Sunday. The incentive of the dinner was the birthday of Mrs. Herman Tessner.
EVERETT GRANERE IMPROVES
Everett Granere of 551 S. Clementime st., who underwent a major operation last week in the Fullerton General hospital, is doing very well and is expected to return home this weekend.

SEES MOTHER
Mrs. Leonard Daigle, accompanied by her husband and daughter, Marilyn, viisted her mother, Mrs. J. B. Daigle, Sunday at a Covina hospital, where she is recovering from bronchial pneumonia.
EL CENTRO CONVENTION
Members and their wives of the Anaheim 20-30 club were present at the semi-annual convention of this district's 20-30 club at El Centro this last weekend. Clubs were represented from Southern California and Arizona.
Those from here who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elsner, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dougan, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Dohm, Jack Reed, Abe Sowden, Fred Klein, George Viebeck and Bill Chapman, all of Anaheim.

FARM CENTER MEMBERS
Members of the Anaheim Farm center met Tuesday evening at the Anaheim high school cafeteria for a potluck dinner and program. Earl Waller and Dick Wright of Fullerton played several trumpet solos and a picture, "The Marvelous Legacy of Dr. Diesel," was shown by the publicity department of the Standard Oil company.
ST. BONIFACE PTA
Members of the St. Boniface PTA will meet at the Parish hall tomorrow for a regular meeting. First Grade mothers will be in charge of the tea. Chairmen will be Mrs. V. Peltzer and Mrs. Gallagher.
TEASDALES FETED AT COLLEGE TEA
Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Teasdale parents of Miss Lorraine Teasdale who was graduated from Anaheim Union high school last spring and seal bearer of the California Scholarship federation, were guests of President and Mrs. Elam J. Anderson, of the University of Redlands recently at a tea held at the president's home in honor of parents and members of the freshman cals of the college.
The tea was preceded by a tour of the campus conducted by professors and their wives, and an afternoon vesper service held in the Memorial chapel on the campus grounds.
An annual affair sponsored by the university administrative officers, professors and faculty wives the tea was held in an effort to promote better acquaintance between parents and educators of the University of Redlands.

Honored At Miscellaneous Bridal Shower
Mrs. La Verne Roquet, the former Betty Wallop, was honored at a miscellaneous shower given at the home of Mrs. Bob Williams on Fern rd., Fullerton, recently.
Decorations were in the bridal motif with bridge being played during the evening. Winners in bridge were Mrs. Arthur Roquet, Mrs. Homer Ames and Miss Esther Zeppenfeld.

Ridgeways Celebrate Marriage, Reunion
At Los Angeles Theatre Party Saturday
Two very special events were celebrated Monday evening by the E. L. Ridgeway family of Yorba Linda at Earl Carroll's theatre-restaurant—the arrival of Mr. Ridgeway from Sumatra, Dutch East Indies and the marriage of Lois Ridgeway to Knox Vincent "Bud" Caldwell of Norwalk, April 27 of this year at Las Vegas, Nev.
Mr. Ridgeway, who has been in the East for the past three years under the employ of the Standard Oil company, arrived in San Francisco last Monday morning and was at home Wednesday evening.
COMPLETE SURPRISE
Announcement of the marriage of the Ridgeway daughter came as a complete surprise to the friends and relatives.

Miss Ridgeway attended Fullerton high school and junior college and is in the advertising department of this paper. Mr. Caldwell is a graduate of Excelsior high school and Fullerton junior college. He is employed at the United States Rubber and Tire company in Long Beach. The couple are planning to live in Anaheim.

Miss Donna Hoskins Presented in Concert Recital Sunday at Melrose Abbey Chapel
Miss Donna Lee Hoskins, soprano, was presented in a concert recital by Albert M. Cranston at the Melrose Abbey chapel Sunday afternoon to a gathering of over 200 people from Southern California.
Miss Hoskins is from Vista and has sung over the various larger local sations under the name of "Donna Deen." She was assisted Sunday by Miss Susan Kilbers, pianist, and Herbert Horn, organist.
The program began with a group of sacred selections featuring Miss Hoskins as soloist. The numbers were "Alleluja," "Come To Me," and "Ave Maria."
Miss Hilbers then played a piano solo entitled, "Rhapsody in C Major." In an opera group, Miss Hoskins sang "Caro Nome" from Rigoletto; "Je Veux" from Romeo and Juliet, and "Last Rose of Summer"
Bridesmaids-to-be Honor Miss Marie West Monday
Misses Elizabeth Hunziker of Anaheim and Miss Martha Langstaff of Santa Ana honored Miss Marie West with a pre-nuptial shower at the Hunziker home at 406 S. Palm st Monday evening. The hostesses will be Miss West's bridesmaids for her marriage, December 30.
Clever bridal games were played during the evening with prizes being won by Lucille Oden and Dorothy Borchert. Decorations of red and green were featured throughout the home.

Miss West was completely surprised by the shower. A group gift in the form of a floor lamp was presented to the guest of honor.

The hostesses served a dessert course on tables decorated with red and green paper and bouquets of poinsettas.

UNER GIRL IS BRIDE-ELECT OF WILLIAM WICKETT
Engagement of Miss Jean Laundaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al-Launer of 625 Malvern ave., Barton, and prominent woman at UCLA campus, to William Wickett, Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. William H. Wickett of Fullerton, husband of Charles C. Chapman, leader of Chapman college, and medical student, is announced this week by parents of the bride.
Miss Launer is president of the Omega sorority and secretary of the senior class at UCLA. Her engagement was first held at the Chi Omega chapter last Saturday night by the singing of a phonograph record on which was transcribed the bride-elect's proposal and the bride-elect's acceptance.
PRESENT CONFERENCE
Miss Launer was secretary of the Associated Women students of LA last year and was chairman of YWCA council. In the summer of 1940 she was sent as oneight representatives from the Angeles campus of the University of California to a student conference in Japan and spent the summer touring the Orient.
She is a member of Guidon, women's auxiliary of Scabbard and Honorary military fraternity Mortar Board and Shell and Graduate.
Mr. Wickett was a graduate from where he was Trojan Knight president of the Phi Sigmapha fraternity. He is also a member of the Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity.
