FIRST AID CLUB GIVES MEMBERS CERTIFICATES
Twenty-nine standard certificates, thirty-seven advance certificates and eleven instructors certificates were awarded Monday evening to members of the First Aid Club.
L. M. Pickel presided over the short business meeting and turned over the chair to Mrs. W. E. Melton, local First Aid Chairman of the Red Cross. Standard certificates were given to Edith Abbott, Diana B. Adams, E. G. Beddall, Bernice T. Bouas, Mrs. Marie Dutton, Evelyn A. Dutzi, Laura Gatjens, W. D. Grafton, Elva L. Haskett, Sarah Hastings, Florence Janzen, Wilma L. Luhring, Lillian Mungerson, Marie Robertson, Nell Robertson, Dorothy Robinson, Irene Steichen, Ann Marie Steichen, Kate Travis, Mrs. Grace Vaught, Edna M. Wisser, Idalia Yorba, Wilma Day, Albert Cranston, Harry A. Harker, Hugh B. Shields, Roy V. Wheeler and John W. Pierce, Jr.

News of the marriage of Miss Nancy Herrington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter W. Herrington of Euclid Ave., and Ensign Carter Kirvin, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Kirvin of Santa Ana, in Honolulu, T. H., August 15 was received by the Kirvins recently.
The former Miss Herrington left early in August for the Islands and arrived the day before her wedding day. The place of the nuptial ceremony was in the chapel of the Central Union church. She wore a white jersey dress and pretty hat. At the reception following, she cut the first piece of the wedding cake with her husband's sword.
The young couple are now making their home at the Niuhale apartments, No. 11, 200 Dewey Way, Honolulu. The home base of Ensign Kirvin is Pearl Harbor Hawaii.
Former Secretary
Mrs. Kirvin was the former secretary in the office of the county superintendent of schools and attended both Orange union high school and Fullerton junior college. She is affiliated with Beta Sigma Phi and Phi Omega sororities of Santa Ana.
The bridegroom attended Virginia Military Institute, graduated from Stanford University and received his naval reserve training at Northwestern University. He is a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
Ten Locals at Missouri Picnic
Ten Anaheim people were among the 160 persons who attended the annual Worth County Young Collegians Have Special Service event designed for the young people who are leaving for college, was held Sunday evening at the Calvary Baptist Church.
The young people participated in the service. John Jackson read the scriptures, Robert Ferree gave a prayer, Miss Wilma Kerr said a contralto solo, "The Man Galilee Road," and Miss Bethea Jeanne Hanson and Dorothy Prairie played a two-piano duet, "Pride" by Litz. Rev. Earl R. Bee gave a sermon on the subject of Dare You," daring the young people to stand tall; to think tall to live tall and to build tall.
Theta Rho Girls Enjoy Picnic; Elect Officers
Five clubs were represented at the second annual Theta Rho picnic at Irvine Park Sunday, with Anaheim's chapter, Omega Chi, among the 150 girls and advisors present.
Saying yes to a challenge from the Los Angeles Alpha chapter, the Anaheim girls played a rough and tumble softball game and finally won 17 to 16. This followed a delicious noon picnic lunch.
Recent Meeting
The Anaheim club elected officers for the coming year at a recent meeting. Miss Dorothy Ragsdale will be installed president; Miss Betty Swenson, vice president; Miss Thelma Swenson, recording secretary; Miss Maxine Tyreman, financial secretary; and Miss Winona Christen, treasurer.
Miss Beryl Wilson, present president, conducted the meeting. The Anaheim chapter has been asked to install the officers of the Compton chapter October 9. The tentative date for their own installation is October 15 and the installing club will be Los Angeles.
The next regular business meeting will be October 1.
Ten Locals at Missouri Picnic
Ten Anaheim people were among the 100 persons who attended the annual Worth County, Missouri picnic held at Long Beach's Bixby Park Sunday afternoon.
Those from Anaheim enjoying the basket lunch and musical entertainment were Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perry and daughter, Ruth, and Mr. Perry's mother, Mrs. Mannie Perry, Mr. and Mrs. A. I. Brown and Dr. and Mrs. W. W. Adams. Fullerton people present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Daniel and daughter, Pansy.

Baptist Church in Orange, are attenting the three-day Baptist Pastors' Prayer Conference at Thousand Pines.
It will be a conference of inspiration and consecration and will feature a presentation of the famous exposition, Song of Solomon, by Dr. R. S. Beal of Tucson, Arizona.
