FORMER GOVERNOR DIES
All of California is a man's community when he's Governor. His time, his activities, his ability—his very life belongs to the service of every-day citizens. When his term of office is over, though, capable ex-Governors too often slip from public life and public effort, and their loss is a real one to the State as a whole.
Dr. George C. Pardee, who was Governor during the great San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906, died the other day at the age of 84. He was one of the ex-Governors of California who served his State in a hundred public capacities, year after year throughout his long life, before, during and long after his term as Chief Executive.
Dr. Pardee was a member of his city's board of health, president of its municipal utility district, member of its port commission, city councilman, public health doctor and mayor. He was chairman of the State Forestry Commission, president elector for Teddy Roosevelt and Calvin Coolidge, chairman of the State Water Resources Commission and Governor of California.
Nobody can remember all of Governor Pardee's public activities. Most everybody will remember some of them. Dr. Pardee will be remembered with affection and respect by his home community, Oakland, and with honor by all of California, who knew him for three-quarters of a century as one of her first citizens.

Young Pastor Has Literary Ability, As Booklet Shows
Rev. H. E. Fisher, a young but experienced and well learned minister and nationally known evangelist of Philadelphia. Pa., has just brought off the press his latest book entitled “Will Hitler and the Nazis Rule the World?” He has written other books on World Events in the Light of Prophecy but this is his best small booklet that is within the reach of every body who wants to know this great question of world-wide importance at present.
Rev. Fisher is at present taking over the pastorate of one our local churches and is making his residence in Anaheim. He has asked us not to give the answer to the book in this write-up so your guess is as good as ours until you read the book. He answers the great questions asked by many people, namely, will Hitler defeat England?, Will Hitler defeat Russia?, Will America be invaded by Hitler?, Why hasn’t God stepped in the picture or will Hitler be cuhsed of God? etc. The book will surprise and shock you but you will admit it’s the truth, so Rev. Fisher says.
Rev. Fisher was born in the German country of Pennsylvania where the German population predominates. He was raised in Lancaster County, Pa., where we often have heard of the great settlements of the Penn. Dutch etc. He is half German and British himself so is in no way prejudiced against any nation except to rightfully divulge the truth according as the Bible tells us of the Great Prophecies that must come to Pass.
Rev. Fisher will be speaking nearly every Sunday eve at the Four-square Church on Broadway.

Police report showed 35 arrests and bookings.

Rev. Fisher will be speaking nearly every Sunday eve at the Foursquare Church on Broadway and Manchester. His subject will be mainly along these prophetic lines of world wide interest concerning each nation and ruler. As you will see in the ad he is giving 5 cents out of each book sold here to our local Red Cross Chapter for the alleviating of human world suffering.
