Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Chapman of Cypress were honored Sunday on their Golden Wedding anniversary by thirty relatives giving a picnic at Brookside Park in Pasadena.
The Chapmans were married in their native state of Nebraska fifty years ago and have lived in Cypress for 10 years.
Those present to honor the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Norval Chapman and family; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edwards; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wier and family of Pasadena; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Miser of Artesia; Mr. and Mrs. John Lukens and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ellsworth of Cypress.
RECENT BRIDE FETED AT SANTA ANA WITH PARTY
Mrs. G. E. Dohm honored Mrs. Jerry Norton, a recent bride and the former Miss Pauline Jones of Anaheim, with a post-nuptial shower at her spacious home in Santa Ana this week.
Pretty decorations of bright summer flowers in pottery vases and luncheon tables and napkins covered with silver white carried out the bridal motif.

Evening Ceremony
At Lutheran Church Joins Two Friday
St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Santa Ana was the setting for the marriage of Lawrence H. Fickle of Anaheim and Miss Rhoda Marie Timmons of Santa Ana Friday evening. Rev. George Bursdeicker officiated with Rev. C. H. S. Hunziker, pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church of Anaheim, assisting.
Miss Timmons is the daughter of Santa Anan, Mrs. Ida M. Timmons. She attended Santa Ana high school and junior college before taking advanced courses at Santa Barbara State College. She is affiliated with Tau Gamma Sigma sorority and Las Meninas.
Mr. Fickle is the son of Mr. William Fickle of Sunkist Ave. He was a graduate of both Fullerton high school and junior college before attending UCLA and Santa Barbara, where he met his bride.
Gowned in White
The bride was gowned in a white marquisette formal with lace trim and a flowing small train. She held white bouvardias with two lovely lavender orchids centered. Her sister, Miss Marian Timmons, was maid-of-honor and wore white organdy, carrying a fan of rose-colored larkspur and bouvardia. Bridemaids were Miss Ruth Lockett and Margaret Schmitz. Both wore gowns similar to the maid's of honor and carried fans of lavender larkspur with sweetness.
Mr. Fickle's brother, Dwane, was best man and ushers were Sam Hankins and Arnold Fickle, another brother.
FOUR DAUGHTERS VISIT PARENTS: HONOR BIRTHDAY
Miss Enda McIntyre, who, with her three sisters from Los Angeles, stayed with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. McInnyre on W. Broadway, last week-end, celebrated her birthday Saturday evening with a party to which several of her girl friends in Anaheim were invited.
Attending the party were Miss Jean Heying, Miss Laurdella Quarton, Mrs. Henry Plou (Angela Callens), Miss Esther De Leon, Miss Louise Ann Truxaw, of Anaheim, Misses Mary Catherine and Jackie Morgan and Miss Grace Eadington of Fullerton, and the honored guest's four sisters, Catherne, Jean and Virginia of Los Angeles, and Betty of Anaheim.
Invited guests who were unable to come were Mrs. Vincent Dykeman and Mrs. Tom Sowder of Anaheim.
All four girls hold varied positions in Los Angeles—Catherine is a secretary at the Innis Shoe Store Virginia is employed with the Liberty Mutual Insurance company, Jean designs women clothes for a dress shop and Endworks in the Bank of America They attended Anaheim school and come to Anaheim frequently to visit their parents and friends.

Miss Marks Hostess To Guild Meet and Bridal Shower
Miss Marjorie Marks of Brookhurst Ave. gave a bridal shower for Miss Eleanor Steadman of Fullerton following a White Cross Guild meeting of the First Baptist Church of Fullerton at her home Monday night.
The appropriate color scheme of pink and white was carried out in corsages, bouquets, favors and paper decorations. Each of the 18 guests present were given a dainty zinna corsage.
Before a light dessert course was served, the guests played appropriate games.
Bride-elect Sails For Honolulu to Join Husband-to-be
Miss Nancy Herrington of Euclid Ave. sailed for Honolulu Friday where she will marry Ensign O. Carter Kirven, who is stationed at the Pacific islands.
Three of her Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters recently honored her with a personal shower and going-away party at Laguna Beach.
Mrs. Eidson Given Two Layette Showers
Honoring Mrs. Elinore Eidson, a surprise layette shower was given at the home of Mrs. Dorothy D. Hunter in Santa Ana Thursday evening.
Gay decorations of pastel streamers, balloons, storks and lovely lavender Her sister, Miss Marian Timmons, was maid-of-honor and wore white organdy, carrying a fan of rose-colored larkspur and bouvardia. Bridemaids were Miss Ruth Lockett and Margaret Schmitz. Both wore gowns similar to the maid's of honor and carried fans of lavender larkspur with sweetness.
Mr. Fickle's brother, Dwane, was best man and ushers were Sam Hankins and Arnold Fickle, another brother.
Sam Hunziger sang Shubert's "Serenade" and "Because" accompanied by Miss Gertrude Yount at the organ, during the ceremony.
Reception at Home
A reception followed at the bride's home. The bride's mother received in a navy blue silk ensemble and was assisted by Mrs. Leon Eckles, aunt of the former Miss Timmons.
The couple left for a northern trip and will make their home in Santa Ana. Mr. Fickle is employed in the California Shipyards.
Indiana Visitors Enjoy Points of Interest With Poetz
Staying with Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Poetz at 943 N. Helena St., at the present time are Mrs. Poetz' sister, Mrs. Lucy Fredrick and friend, Mrs. Eugene Wilson of Washington, Ind., who arrived Saturday evening on the Santa Fe train.
Sunday morning, the guests, their hosts and Mrs. Frederick's daughter, Miss Frances Fredrick of Los Angeles with Mrs. Lois Sissel traveled to San Onfre. On Wednesday, the two visitors stayed at Catalina and this week-end, they and the Poetz' will be at Big Bear.
They will stay about ten days longer in Anaheim.
Son Born While Grandparents Visit From Oklahoma
The birth of a son, Norvald Lawrence, to Mr. and Mrs. Norvald Ulvestad, August 1 at the California Lutheran Hospital, Los Angeles, reminds us that this is the fourth generation of Anaheim Pioneers. Mrs. Ulvestad, the former Miss Dorothy Yungbluth, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Yungbluth of this city and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Strodthoff, pioneers of Anaheim.

Parents Visit at Camp Osceola; Meet Rainy Weather
Meeting unorthodox weather from Riverside to Camp Osceola several parents of Anaheim Reserves who are staying at the camp, traveled to Osceola and attended the visiting day there Sunday.
Because of rain, guests were forced to stay in the lodge at the camp but enjoyed the dinner program given for them. Attending from here were Mr. and Ms. D.L.Harpster, Mr. and Mrs.B.Cross, Mr. and Mrs.M.A.Gaule Mr. and Mrs.C.F.Pierpoint, Mr.Walter Luebkeman, Mr. and Mr.Carl Kopfer with daughter, Katerne, all of Anaheim and Mrs.Geis of Long Beach who accompanied the last four mentioned.
The Anaheim people were given to see Mr. and Mrs.Paul Demar Mr.Demare was a former teacher at Anaheim union high school.
Rain Brings Local Picnickers Back to Korn Home Sunday
Weather conditions forced would-be picnic at Banning to come a patio dinner at the house of Mr. and Mrs.Carl Korn on H.Rd.Sunday evening.

Gay decorations of pastel streamers, balloons, storks and beautiful arrangements of pink surprise lilies adorned the home. The evening was spent by playing several games of hearts. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Margaret Sullivan, Miss Lee Gregory and Miss Lois Journigan.
Those present were Miss Gregory of Fullerton; Misses Lena Crissman and Genevieve Marshall of Buena Park; Misses Alice Adden and Ruth Barels of Whittier; Miss Journigan of La Habra; Mrs. Margaret Sullivan of Anaheim; Mrs. Dorothy Hunter, the hostess and the honored guest.

Hubbards Attend Family Reunion
Mr. and Mrs. John Hubbard of 1222 W. Broadway attended a family reunion potluck picnic at Irvine Park Sunday with 40 members of Mr. Hubbard's family present.
Mrs. Eldon Denny, sister of Mr. Hubbard, was also given a layette shower by the family group.
Among those present were Mr. Eldon Denny, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Denny and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mynatt of Anaheim.

Valedor Club Plans September Party
The Valedor Club made plans for a card party scheduled for the last week in September at a regular meeting Monday night.
Henry Plou, Ferdie Patin, Leo Waldman and Joe Heinz were selected to comprise the planning committee for the card party.
Announcements were made concerning the Tennis Team which meets the Santa Ana Young People's club team in Anaheim August 24 and a club picnic Friday at Irvine Park. Marie Heinz and Angela Plou are planning refreshments and entertainment.
The next regular meeting will be August 25. Following the business session, refreshments were served by Miss Betty McIntyre, Dick Baggot and Ray Hudson.
Tessners on Vacation
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tessner with daughter, Vioda Mae, of 403 E. Center St., left recently for a two or three week trip to Yosemite and to Nevada, visiting friends along the way.

A trio of hostesses planned a lovely stork shower for Mrs. Harvey Cecil Nunn, the former Leona Hilgenfeld, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld at 120 E.Broadway Saturday evening. Those who shared hostess duties were Mrs. S. F. Hilgenfeld, Mrs. Robert S. Farrar (Evelyn Hilgenfeld) and Mrs. Melvin D. Hilgenfeld.
Blue and pink delphinium, cosmos and godecetia bouquets lended fragrance and perfume to the occasion. Little lamb and bunny figures also graced the home.
Before the gifts were presented to the honored guest, games of "Stork" and a word game were played. Winners in "Stork" were Miss Mildred Mauerhan and Miss Flora Broeker and in the word game, Mrs. Arthur Korn and Miss Brocker.
Pink and blue bonnet nutcups filled with pink, blue and white candies and nuts and white and pink petitfours with a pink fluff dessert and coffee were served on daintily decorated trays. The napkins were in the stork motif.

A birthday picnic Saturday was given in honor of Mrs. Leota Fergus of S. Walnut St. She was 75 years old.

Birthday Feted at Clifton's With Out-of-Town Guests
Miss Gertrude Hunt of Midway Drive celebrated her 17th birthday with a noon dinner at Clifton's Cafeteria Thursday.
A nicely decorated cake was presented to the guest-of-honor. Present were Mrs. O. A.Hunt, mother of Gertrude; Mrs. J.A.Pickard, sister of the honored guest from Midway City; Mrs.T.M.Hunt and Mrs.Elsie Purves of Clay Center, Kansas.
The two last mentioned guests are sister-in-law and cousin respectively of Mrs.Hunt. Mrs.T.M.Hunt is staying with the Anaheim Hunts for the remainder of the summer.
Future Bride Honored With Kitchen Shower
Maxwells Cover 7,000 Miles on Seven Week Trip
Mr. and Mrs.W.C.Maxwell Lincoln Ave. returned Sat morning from a 7,000 mile trip seven weeks. They both attend the National Educational Association convention at Boston sightseeing on the Atlantic board.
Between 12,000 and 15,000 gates attended the five-day convention with California brides the largest delegation of 14 spite the longest distance to the Mrs.Maxwell was sent by CTA of Magnolia School and Maxwell was a delegate to Long Beach. During the saturday Boston, the Maxwells visit toric spots near the city and July 4 at Plymouth.
Following the convention traveled by car up the A coast and stayed at Bay Haine Maine. From there they set home and stopped in Missouri visit relatives.
The Anaheim travelers saw weather was fine with the condition of hot weather at Watson, D.C., and rain in the eastern states. They missed the burst in Needles by a few miles.

Family Picnic at Irvine Park Sunday
A family barbecue at Irvine Park was given Sunday with Mrs. C. E. Jordan and Mrs. Maggie Reinhardt of Anaheim attending.
Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Dateweiler of Bellflower, Mrs. Helen Reinhardt of Fullerton and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ryan of Yorba Linda.
Recent Bride Feted At Barbre Home
Mrs. Charles Porter, the former Adelaide Barbre of Newport Beach, was honored with a post-nuptial shower at the home of Mrs. V. C. Barbre, jr., 723 N. Philadelphia St., recently.
The mantle was decorated with a 12-inch doll dressed as a bride and a smaller doll dressed as a flower girl in pink net. The centerpiece for the buffet table was a cake with a tiny bride and groom.
Those present were Mrs. W. D. Simmons, Joy Simmons, Betty Jane Hale, Mrs. Eva Copeland, Dorothy Copeland, Martha Leightner, Edna Walker and Mrs. Winifred Barbre.
Those from out of town who were unable to attend and who sent gifts were Mrs. Ruth Barbre, Marie Barbre and June Barbre of Eagle Rock; Mrs. Roger Barrow of Costa Mesa; Mrs. Torrance of Newport; and Mrs. R. J. Mueller of Orange whose gift was brought by Mrs. John D. Sanday, a guest.
Future Bride Honored With Kitchen Shower
Guest of honor at a recent red and white kitchen-shower at the home of Mrs. R. E. Richards at 543 S. Ohio St., was Miss Hazella Brown, bride-elect of Jeffrey Palin and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. M. Brown. The wedding date is set at August 29.
Cards were played during the evening with prizes going to Mrs. J.E.Baker, Mrs.Albert Raymond, Mrs.C.A.Sissón and Mrs.Otto Clodt.
Following games, pantry shelves filled with kitchen supplies were unveiled by the honored guest and presented to her from the group present.

Anaheim and Orange Families Joined as Young Couple Wed

Guy C. Knarr, Veterans' Employment Representative, his wife and son, Bronie Charles, of Oklahoma City, Okla., have been spending the past month with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer I. Plummer of 711 N. Lemon St. Monday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler became the parents of a seven pound baby son named Guy Lawrence, born at the St. Joseph's hospital in Orange.
While in Southern California, Mr. Knarr toured the three aircraft plants in order to report the progress of the defense program to his employment bureau. He and his family returned to Oklahoma Sunday.
Pot-Luck Dinner is On Schedule for Townsend Club No. 1
Anaheim Townsend club No. 1 will serve a chicken noodle penny pot-luck dinner Tuesday at the club room, 224 E. Center St., starting at 6 p.m.
The club will furnish the main dish and members are urged to bring other dishes of food. Following the dinner there will be as guest speaker E. E. Proud, president of the nineteenth district council.
A very cordial welcome is extended to the public.
Ramon Ramirez Teaches Dance Steps
Guest Day at the Grace Lutheran Missionary Aid Society was held Thursday with a special program presented in the Church ARLOR. Mrs. C. H. S. Hunziker, president, conducted the meeting which preceded the program.
Devotionals by Rev. Hunziker started the meeting. "Lutheran churches in South America" was the subject of the day's discussion by Mrs. Julia Baumbach. Following this there was a musical program presented by Mrs. Anna Segel of the Conservatory of Music. Soloists were Miss Doris Humble, vocalist, and Miss Ruth Jen Taylor, violinist, accompanied by Miss Susan Hilbers and group of piano numbers by Miss Anne Vieve Furrey.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Melton of Bacacia St. with children Mary Lee, Harvin and Gloria, returned last Friday from a week's camp at Newport Beach. With them were Mr. Melton's cousin and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Daugherty and children, Rose Marie and Roy, of Irvine.

Ramon Ramirez Teaches Dance Steps At L. A. Convention
The Dancing Business association selected Ramon de Ramirez of Richards Martin Studio of Dancing as one of the teachers for the annual Normal School convention at the Rex Arms Hotel in Los Angeles last week-end.
Mr. Ramirez taught the latest steps in ballroom and exhibition dancing.
He and his wife were featured in a Vienese waltz at Redlands Bowl Friday and danced to the music of Johann Strauss played by the Redlands Bowl Orchestra directed by James K. Guthrie.
Best man was Donald Knaak, brother of Paul. The ushers were Clarence Carlson, Baxter Wolf and Donald Foot. Lending his voice to the beautiful wedding was Bruce Buell, accompanied by Miss Marie Fetchen at the organ.
160 at Reception
The reception given in the church hall was attended by 160 guests. The mothers of the newly married couple received Mrs. Carlson wore a rose alpaca formal with a shoulder corsage of tallisman roses and Mrs. Knaak was gowned in a blue lace with a corsage of talisman roses. A cousin of Ruth, Mrs. Oliva Cole, assisted with the guest book.
Both the new Mr. and Mrs. Knaak are graduates of Fullerton junior college. Miss Carlson graduated from Anaheim high school while the bridegroom attended high school at Orange. He is employed at Northrup Aircraft and after a northern trip, he and his bride will make a home at Santa Ana.
