Young Entertainers Represent
Elks Sponsor Show; Soldiers Ask Return Engagement
Eight-hundred boys at Camp Haan enthusiastically acclaimed Anaheim's representatives, the Richards-Martin Studio dancers, at a show Friday evening in the Camp's recreation hall. The Anaheim group was sponsored by the Elks' Drum and Bugle Corps.
RETURN ENGAGEMENT
Most of the parents accompanied the young entertainers to Riverside. Both dance instructors, Mrs. Anna L. Richard and Mrs. E. F. Martin with Mr. Martin, also were present. Only the 217th battalion saw the show but the youngsters were so well-received that the entire company will see them in a return engagement in September.
TAP NUMBERS
The tap numbers on the program included Betty Courtney in a toe tap, "The Norwalk Nightmare"; Margaret Duncan and Shirley Tozier in a triple tap; Berenice and Marilyn Hargrove in a shim sham tap routine; a group Harlem top number with Betty Saunders, Ann Goodman, Patricia McDonald, Gloria Saunders, Nancy Sue Weimer, Dianne Schroeder, Jean Golay and Mildred Crespin; Betty Costar in a tap dance; Jean Hannerberg in a military tap; Susan Cornell in a baton tap; Patricia Commings in a rhythm tap.
Tango solos and duets included Joyce Lindell and Clarence Robinson, Norma Orsburn and Paul Morena, and Marilyn Merkley and Bruce Kreiger.

Brother from Washington
Wes W. Barkman and his wife, of Wash. stayed with his sister, Mrs. Dora Pearson, 630 N. Clemen-tine St. last week and left Saturday morning. On the way to Anaheim, they visited their son, Lt. Bill Barkman, at San Francisco.
Counsin from Oakland
S. G. Rose visited of Oak., visited Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Prescott, 205 S. Citron St. over the weekend. He is Mrs. Prescott's cousin. He also visited his aunt, Mrs. Nesbitt of Anaheim, mother of Mrs. Prescott.
Pollocks Take Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pollock of S. Sunkist Ave. returned last week from a 7-day trip to Centralia, Wash. They stayed with a relative, Mrs. Will Rich and brought back their niece, Miss Lila Rich, who will visit for two weeks.
Los Angeles Dinner
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Pool and family of 412 W. Elm St. went to Los Angeles for a Sunday dinner at Mrs. Harold Palmer's home. Visiting the Pools at the present time is Miss Jane Alberry of Salinas, a piece.

The centerpiece of blue phinium and yellow dahlias the tea table was guarded by stately yellow tapers. Mrs. Herrington and Mrs. Kirven pooled and were assisted by Mrs. Phi Herrington.
Miss Herrington wore a quoise silk jersey with a shoulderage of pink carnations rosebuds. She will leave August on the S.S. Lurline for Honolulu where her fiance is stationed.

Ensign Kirvin received his naval training at Northwest University and Virginia Mil Institute. He is also a graduate of Stanford University, he affiliated with the Phi Kappa fraternity.

A triple birthday party was staged last week at the Vilott home at 700 N. Zeyn St.
The celebrants were Mr. L. Dale Vilott, the host, and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Parkin.
Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Vilott, Mr. Lyle S. Vilott and Miss Jackie Jeffcoat, and Mrs. Dale Vilott, the hostess.

Former Teachers Visit
Miss Mary E. (Molly) Rector and her sister, Miss Laura (Dolly) Rector, former teachers of elementary schools of Anaheim in the early 1900's, dropped in at the home of Mrs. R. L. Coons of Liberty Lane last week for a short visit. They reside at Berkeley now.
At Sister's Luncheon
Mrs. A. L. Raymond of 807 N. Helena St. attended a luncheon given by her sister, Mrs. Herbert E. Morey, at San Marino for a mutual friend Saturday. The afternoon was spent in diversified entertainment Mrs. Morey's daughter, Mary Ann, arrived at Mrs. Raymond's home Wednesday to stay until Monday.
Fly on Air Liner
Mrs. Emma Van Gunby and son Edwin arrived here last week on the airliner from Nevada for a stay with Charles H. Rineharts at 506 S. Citron St. Mrs. Van Gunby lives in Iowa and her son works with the United Air-lines at Nevada. Last Friday evening, the Rineharts and their guests enjoyed a picnic supper at Corona Park.
Busy Days for All
Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Rogers and daughter, Phyllis, of 755 N. Topeka St., attended the Long Beach Sciots picnic at Irvine Park Sunday. The Sciots is a Masonic order. On Monday, Miss Marilyn Rogers returned from a 15-day stay at Yosemite with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Djckenson of Anaheim. Mr. Dickenson was ill on the trip and on Tuesday underwent an appendectomy at the Fullerton General hospital. He is reported as doing as well as can be expected.

Mrs. G. H. Gillam of San Diego, mother of Mrs. Harry D. Riley, is staying a week with the Rileys at their home at 714 N. Los Angeles St.

Ensign Kirvin receives his naval training at Northwest University and Virginia Mil Institute. He is also a graduate of Stanford University. He affiliated with the Phi Kappa fraternity.
Bouldins Return From Train Trip
Mr. and Mrs. James Bouldin 307 E. Alberta St. returned this day from a 15-day trip through Arizona, Texas, and Miss visiting relatives and friends.
They left on the Union Pacific train and stopped at AmaTexas, for four days visiting Bouldin's sister. The next was at St. Louis for a weekend friends. Then at Douglas, they stayed a few days, with brothers of Mr. Bouldin.
Douglas, the Anaheim couple turned to this city via the stranger.
Although they ran into hot weather and rain, the Boy report a very restful and enjoyable vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Schacht of 918 N. Emily St son Jerry visited Mrs. Sch母亲, Mrs. W. G. Mulligan Buena Park Sunday. It was first time that Jerry had been of the house since he was ill pneumonia.
Son Returns
Warren Rust, son of Mrs.Jefferson Rust of 514 S.IrSt., returned Wednesday from two week's stay at San Francisco with a cousin.

Mr. Michael Edward Riordan, deputy chief of police of San Francisco and his wife and Mr. D. McGuire of the same city were at the D. J. Donnelly's home on Lincoln Ave. Saturday for dinner. They are old time friends of the Anaheim people.
Wallace Boy on Trip
Rodrick Wallace, son of Mr., and Mrs. Homer Wallace of 211 W. Wilhelmina St., left last week for Fayettville, Ark., on the Santa Fe bus to visit his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Roper. He will stay until September.
Elliotts at Sequoia
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Elliott of 1401 E. Center St., stayed two weeks with Santa Ana friends at Sequoia National Park. Dr. H. N. Brothers and wife of Santa Ana and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Don Daggett and daughter, Phyllis, formed the rest of the party. The Brothers brought their trailer with them.
Miss Elbinger Hostess
Miss Josephine Elbinger was hostess at a weinie roast Saturday night at Corona Del Mar to a group of schoolmates.
Girls included Norma Gould, Agnes Favazza, Betty Jane Polston and the hostess, all from Anaheim and Betty Smith of Santa Ana; boys were Don Osborne, Joe Lackhaven, Bert Lanain, Melvin Pugh and Jack Polston, all of Anaheim.

Mr. and Mrs. John N. Saenger of 115 E. Wilhelmina St., with their nephew, Frederick Hegenberger, stayed several days recently with relatives in Columbus, Ohio. They brought home with them Frederick's brother John, who will stay until September.

Sunday School Picnic
The Sunday School of the Church of Christ had its monthly pot-luck picnic in the city park Wednesday evening. About 40 persons attended. Games followed the supper.

SQR Store Has Picnic at Park
Employees and employers of the Anaheim S. Q. R. Store enjoyed a picnic at the city park Tuesday evening. Over seventy people attended.
Jack Bilger was in charge of arrangements. The dinner menu read: Ham, scalloped potatoes, string beans, salad, ice cream, cake and coffee. Miss June Holston was in charge of games after dinner. Some of the games played were "Three Deep," "Dodge," "Ring-on-String," "Stepping on Newspaper," and "Poor Pussy."
CRIPPLED RELIEF WORKERS CITE THREE NEW CASES
Three new cases have been added to the rolls of the Crippled Children's Relief association, it is announced at a director's luncheon at the Elks club Friday.
Transportation is being provided for a boy who must make frequent trips to the Los Angeles Orthopedic hospital.
Medical attention was procured for a second case, and a brace purchased for a third person.
The association does not reveal the names of the persons it assists.
The next meeting of the Orange county group will be at Huntington Beach, September 5.
On September 12 there will be a joint meeting in Los Angeles of the Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Indio and Riverside county associations.
MISS CLAY MARRIES PVT. OSBORNE AT YUMA RECENTLY
Miss Helen Clay of Anaheim and Pvt. Charles W. Osborne, Jr., of Camp Murray, were married recently at Yuma, Ariz.
Miss Clay is a native of Colorado and is employed at the Lauretta Dress Shop. Pvt. Osborne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Osborne, 536 S. West St. He is a member of the 41st regiment. Both young people graduated from Anaheim high school in 1934 and the bridegroom is a graduate of Fullerton junior college.
The bride wore a tiel blue suit with dusty rose accessories. Mr. and Mrs. James Reinert of this city stood up for the couple at the ceremony.
Pvt. Osborne flew back to join his regiment and the new Mrs. Osborne is continuing her work at the dress shop.
WSCS and Families Attend Potluck
Fifty members of the White Temple WSCS and their families attended a pot-luck picnic in the City Park Thursday afternoon.
This was the first year the society had held a picnic, Mrs. Earl Woodard, president of the organization, presided over the business meeting that followed the dinner.
An anniversary dinner for charter members was planned for September.

Mr. and Mrs. James Bouldin of E. Alberta St. returned Sun- from a 15-day trip through Omaa, Texas, and Missouri, going relatives and friends.
They left on the Union Pacific and stopped at Amarillo, as for four days visiting Mr. Bouldin's sister. The next stop at St. Louis for a week with buds. Then at Douglas, Ariz., stayed a few days, with two others of Mr. Bouldin. From Douglas, the Anaheim couple re-raced to this city via the stream.
Although they ran into some weather and rain, the Bouldins sent a very restful and enjoyable message.

YMCA Leaders and Boys at Osceola
Seven leaders and 32 YMCA boys left Wednesday morning for Camp at Osceola to make up the delegation from the South Orange county district.
Eighty-two boys are expected to be in camp. Leaders are Wilbert Bonney, Richard Mills, James Morris, Charles Todd, Roger Hilles, Howard Sherman and Bob Ferree. Pottery Class Begins Tuesday
The adult pottery class of the Anaheim high school will open Tuesday for summer work under the direction of Mrs. Edythe MacDonald.
The class will be held in a cool room in the auditorium building of the high school on N. Ohio St. Morning class will be from 10 a.m. to 12 and afternoon class from 1 to 3 p.m. each Tuesday throughout the summer.
Last year this pottery class was very successful with people from Anaheim and neighboring communities enrolled. A display of the work was given at the end of the summer.

Valedor Club
Holds Sport Dance
Over 100 people attended the summer sport dance sponsored by the Valedor club at St. Boniface Hall Friday night.
The hall was decorated with a garden setting featuring trellises and marigolds. The raffle price was won by Mr. Kenny Laydon of Santa Ana.
Committee in charge included the officers of the club. They are Miss Betty McIntyre, Miss Betty Dammers, Miss Agnes Kramer, Henry Plou and Ferdinand Patton.
JACK LEE WINS DEGREE FOR DEMOLAY WORK
For the first time in Orange county, Mr. Jack Lee of 703 Zeyn St., was elevated to the Chevalier Degree for outstanding De Molay work by the Rev. Mr. Eric Bloy at the Masonic Temple.
The Rev, Mr. Bloy of St. Paul Cathedral and grand chaplain of the Grand Council is in charge of the Southern California jurisdiction.
Anaheim was host to all of Orange county and about 200 persons attended. Mr. Charles Organ, advisor of the Anaheim chapter was master of ceremonies. During the ritualistic work, the Melrose Abbey Sextet sang several numbers.

PAST NOBLES MEET AT HOME OF MISS HORWITZ
The Past Noble Grands of the Lois Rebekah Lodge met at the home of Miss Hannah Horwitz at 222 E. Center St. Thursday evening. Nineteen members were present.
The president, Mrs. Charlotte Hodges, conducted a business meeting before refreshments were served. Plans were made for a picnic supper in the park August 14. The refreshment committee assisting Miss Horwitz was Miss Barbara Myers and Mrs. Mable Clark. Mrs. Gertrude Rohwer won the door prize and Mrs. Etta Tuma was the winner of the mystery prize.

Leo Friis' Honored On 15th Anniversary
Twenty friends of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Friis surprised them Monday night on their fifteenth wedding anniversary with a party at their new home at 600 N. Clementine St.
The guests brought with them a three-tier wedding cake and a beautiful crystal flower bowl with four crystal candle holders. The evening was spent in cards and refreshments.

With birthdays two days apart, Miss Ella and Flora Broeker were surprised on the day between Monday night, with a party given by five of their friends at the Broeker home at 833 N.Lemon St.
Gifts were presented to the sisters and birthday cake and ice cream were served. The "surprisers" were Mrs.Florence Locke, Mrs.Myra Thompson, Mrs.Mildred Hall, Mrs.Ina Davis and Mrs.Carrie Houser.
YLI at Glendale Installation
Anaheim was host to all of Orange county and about 200 persons attended. Mr. Charles Organ, advisor of the Anaheim chapter was master of ceremonies. During the ritualistic work, the Melrose Abbey Sextet sang several numbers.
Mrs. Blach Given Layette Shower
A layette shower was given Friday night for Mrs. George Blach, of Anaheim, by Mrs. Robert Blach at her home at 604 N. Zeyn St.
Guests were Mesdames Audrie Comstock, Helen Comstock, Helen Gover, Dorothy Keup, Frank Cook, Etta Cox, Marietta Davis, Maud Balch, Mildred Quarton, Ruth Robinson and Lois Dickenson.

Delegates Selected As Club Meets
Thirty members of the Valedor club selected as delegates Alexis and Sophie Pelous and Leo Waldman to attend the Federation of Young People's club at a meeting Monday night at St. Boniface Parish.
Following the business meeting ping pong was played. Refreshments were served by the committee, Genevieve and Joe Heinz and John Stehly.
The club had an inter-club bowling tournament Wednesday night and on Monday are planning a beach party at Corona del Mar. Committee in charge of arrangements are Catherine and Joe Heinz and Betty McIntyre.
The next regular meeting will be July 28. Lucille Roy, Catherine Bevins, Ray Hudson and Bill Heinz are the planning committee.
YLI at Glendale Installation
Several members of the Anaheim YLI attended the installation of officers of the Glendale Institute Monday night. Miss Beryl Kennedy, newly installed financial secretary of Anaheim's Institute, was the installing officer at Glendale.
Other Anaheim ladies attending were Miss Agnes Callens, Miss Elvira Heinz, Miss Lee Gregor, Mrs. Clara Berkhard and Miss Vernia Pohlman.
