Kuchel Lauds Work of Collins And C. A. Watson Assemblymen Sam L. Collins of Fullerton and Clyde A. Watson of Orange were praised today for their leadership in the legislature by Senator Thomas H. Kuchel of Anaheim, who is chairman of the Republican State Central committee. "Orange County has received outstanding representation during the session that has just ended because of the industry and devotion to duty of Assemblymen Watson and Collins," Senator Kuchel declared. "They fought for a sound budget, for economy and increased efficiency and for the $28,000,000 annual tax reduction plan." BACKED DEFENSE BILLS "All of the legislation necessary to the national defense program has received their support, including measures to protect workers and plants from sabotage, to develop a home guard and to check the operations of Communist and other subversive organizations," Senator Kuchel continued. "Assemblymen Collins and Watson have furthered acts to aid agriculture and were leaders in the fights to ban hot cargo and secondary boycott strikes. "Legislation to restore, protect and develop the beaches of the county were supported by the assemblymen. "Had it not been for the ability and the determination of Orange county's legislators, our representation in the Assembly might have been reduced to one, because northern legislators sought to avoid the loss of representation." Beebe-La Grandeuer Vows Taken at Santa Barbara The beautiful church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Santa Barbara was the scene of the marriage of Miss Rosalie Beebe of Anaheim to Alsid A. La Grandeur of Miles City, Mont., Sunday afternoon. Father Aquistapace of the church joined the two. Miss Beebe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Beebe of 738 N. Philadelphia St. She is a graduate of the Santa Barbara State Teachers' college in the class of '39. She has been teaching in Santa Barbara for two years and will continue to teach after her marriage. The groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred La Grandeur live in Miles City and could not attend the ceremony. The bridegroom attended the State College and is now connected with the Alpha Beta grocery stores. Miss Beebe wore a white crepe-de-chine ruffled gown with a white chiffon, shasta daisy bouquet. Miss Eudora Baldwin of Bakersfield was the maid-of-honor with Gerald Fawley of Compton the best man. The church was decorated in roses and white larkspur, white candles, magnolias and foliage, giving the ritual a lovely setting. The bride's father gave her in marriage. A reception was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morris, close friends of the couple, after the wedding, and about 50 persons attended. The two are now on their wedding trip to Huntington Lake and will be home presently to friends at 610 W. Vallerio St., Santa Barbara. 'Had it not been for the ability and the determination of Orange county's legislators, our representation in the Assembly might have been reduced to one, because northern legislators sought to avoid the loss of representation in the reapportionment by taking an assemblyman from our county. EMPHASIZED ECONOMY 'Partisanship has not been emphasized during these days of national emergency,' Senator Kuchel stated, 'rather we have sought to accomplish that which will prepare California for the critical days that are ahead. In this, Republicans have been joined by brave, independent Democrats, who have placed state and nation ahead of party. The result of our endeavors assures California citizens of sound, stable government. We have emphasized economy because we are cognizant of the huge tax burden to be imposed by the federal government but in so doing we have provided that which is needed to meet the emergency. 'To Assemblymen Watson and Collins and legislators of similar integrity and ability may be attributed the essential legislation that has been enacted.'" Anaheim Firm Turns Out Huge Order For Navy Continued from page 1 that were unobtainable in the market. In addition, he purchased five laths, two milling machines, two drill presses, three grinders and a vast amount of hand tools. In brief, he installed mass production machinery to turn out the navy's order on time. East Friday delivery of 3300 units was made, but before delivery was accepted, a government inspector visited the plant of the Anaheim Machine Works, examined the output and pronounced the packing glands perfect. PERFECTS CITRUS MACHINE Oas was born in Norway, coming In brief, he installed mass production machinery to turn out the navy's order on time. East Friday delivery of 3300 units was made, but before delivery was accepted, a government inspector visited the plant of the Anaheim Machine Works, examined the output and pronounced the packing glands perfect. PERFECTS CITRUS MACHINE Oas was born in Norway, coming to the United States in 1924. After a number of years with the United States Steel corporation, he joined the staff of the K. O. Lee and Son Company, of Aberdeen, S. D., first as shop foreman, and later as field manager. In later capacity, he covered the United States, Mexico and Canada. It was during his travels on this job that he first saw Anaheim and decided that eventually he would make this his home. Five years ago he moved here and now resides at 531 S. Helena St. Oas perfected a citrus pulp grinding machine that now is in common use by citrus companies throughout the orange empire. REPEATS OLD PROVERB He also has become an expert on the fruit juices pump, an extremely complicated piece of machinery. He now numbers among his clients every large juice canning company on the West Coast who send for him when their pumps get out of order. The alternative would be to send the entire machine back to the manufacturer in Waukesha, Wis. Asked if mastering an entirely new type of machinery, were not extremely difficult, Oas replied: "Back in Norway we had a saying: 'When the Lord gives you a job, he'll give you the brains to do it.'" YOU'LL WANT TO SING PRAISES, too, over the gleaming beauty of the new gas ranges. And more than that, you'll like the ease with which you can keep your range clean. Just consider: Burners are non-clogging and may be removed for easy wiping. They provide tailored heat, to do away with boil-overs and excess steam. Their clear blue flame leaves utensils spotless. Broiling is smokeless. And a quick wipe of the porcelain enamel keeps a like-new sparkle on the entire range. See the latest models soon. Ask especially about CP gas ranges at a DEALER'S or SOUTHERN COUNTIES GAS COMPANY Here and There Among Your Friends Wrights Leave The Gordon Wrights of 131 Cherry St. left last week for San Diego where they will make their home. The Wrights have lived in Anaheim for more than 18 years. Cooks in Idaho Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cook left Wednesday for Moscow, Idaho, where Mr. Cook will study at the University summer school. They also plan to visit Mrs. Cook's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seige in Bishop. They will return in September. Their home is being rented by the will-be Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peter (Margaret Hein), who will be married tomorrow. While renting the Cooks home, they will build a house in Anaheim.
