Parrot Answers When Bartlett Telephone Ring
Being greeted with the "hello" over the phone is any more than when a dog man, but when a clear voice "Good-bye," when you see the number you dial that thing to write home and folks about. That was a situation when Anne Lee, representative called the Mrs. William W. Bartlett Palm St., in her search for early this week.
It was later learned that Bartlett's 20-year-old parrot ed, by the way, Polly, finished his morning bath sitting in the window chair the rain outside. When Bartlett picked up the Polly spoke for her.
Polly has a large voice and several times a day his coffee and bread. When he is covered up he asks, "Is Polly cold?"

Being greeted with the common hello" over the phone isn't news any more than when a dog bites a man, but when a clear voice says, Good-bye," when you speak to the number you dial that is something to write home and tell the folks about. Peck Supports Anti-Sabotage Bill
Among the maze of legislative measures now before the California state legislature is one of supreme importance to the American people because it directly affects the national defense program, according to Glen Peck, past commander of Anaheim post of the American Legion.
It is Assembly Bill 273, a companion to Senate Bill 180 which recently passed the Senate by a heavy majority. It is known as the Sabotage Prevention bill and it provides safeguards to the enormous program now under way by which it is hoped to place the nation in a position to check any possible future thrusts by totalitarian nations.
It should be the patriotic duty of every American citizen, especially war veterans, to encourage their legislators to support this vital important measure to the end that sabotage may not 'endanger'
Jacob Berlin, Jr. Called by Death
Jacob Berlin, jr., former Anaheim resident and prominent as a builder in southern California, died last Friday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Frank T. Rimpau of Alhambra. He was 73 years old. Funeral services were conducted early this week, burial being made in Glendale.

He gained wide fame as a builder of flumes and other works for the Anaheim Union Water company and as engineer and road overseer of the then mountain road through Santa Anaanyon. He later moved to Los Angeles where he was engaged as a builder. During recent years he built and remodelled a number of properties for Major Frank F. Ey, also a former resident of Anaheim now living in Los Angeles.
Besides the sister, Berlin is survived by a nephew, Byron Gale of Huntington Beach, and two nieces, Jaybelle and Olive Gale of Los Angeles, formerly of Yorba Linda.
