ANAHEIM GAZETTE Established 1870 ORANGE COUNTY'S OLDEST NEWSPAPER HENRY KUCHEL, Editor and Publisher 1887-1935 The Anaheim Gazette has been owned and edited by the same family since 1875. Published every Thursday at 259 East Center Street, Anaheim, Calif. Subscription Per Year ...$2.00 Six Months ...$1.00 MRS. HENRY KUCHEL THEODORE B. KUCHEL Editors and Publishers Entered as second-class matter at the Post Office at Anaheim, California, under the Act of March 8, 1879. EASTER SHOPPING DAYS Anaheim has long been noted as an aggressive, forward-looking community. The local people together with merchants have co-operated to keep our city abreast of the times. No better evidence of this spirit could be shown than our Anaheim Ebell Club's effort in putting on their Hostess Day this week. These Anaheim women know that shoppers need look no further than their own community to be right up in front in the Easter style parade. The days when it was necessary to go to the big city for bargains are dead and gone, however, we are not sure everyone yet knows it. Anaheim's progressive merchants have dethroned big cities' one-time monoply and laden their shelves with bargains equaling in variety and appeal those to be found anywhere. Remember it is these enterprisers in Anaheim whose taxes, payrolls, rent bills and civic activities build up the social and cultural background of the city. In other words our schools, churches and other agencies for the betterment of human life ebb and flow in direct ratio to our business pace. Here's hoping that the Ebell Club's Hostess Day makes more people realize that by shopping in Anaheim they can head the Easter parade.
