LEGAL NOTICE
NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS FOR FURNISHING CHLORINE, PIPE AND FITTINGS, CONDUIT, CEMENT, DISINTEGRATED GRANITE AND PAVING.
Notice is hereby given that sealed proposals will be received by the city council of the City of Anaheim, at the office of the City Clerk of said city, up to the hour of eight o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, December 28, 1937, for furnishing to said city the following materials and supplies:
ITEM 1—CHLORINE
Approximately 40 tons of chlorine gas in 1-ton cylinders, F.O.B. bidders' warehouse, under purchase agreement to run for the calendar year 1938. Said chlorine gas is to be used at various locations along the Orange County Joint Outfall Sewer, and must be moisture free and of a standard purity equal to that in water works practice.
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $150.00, payable to City of Anaheim, and the successful bidder will be required to furnish a faithful performance bond, satisfactory to the city, in the amount of $1500.
ITEM 2—CAST IRON WATER PIPE
Approximately 2570 lin. ft. of 4" cast iron water pipe, Class B, delivered at trench side in La Palma Park. Said pipe to be in accordance with "Specifications for Cast Iron Water Pipe, Series of 1937, City of Anaheim." Each proposal to be accompanied by ten percent check and successful bidder to furnish bond as described under ITEM 3.
ITEM 3—CAST IRON WATER PIPE
The following approximate quantities of cast iron water pipe are provided:
1000 lin. ft. of 4" pipe;
6200 lin. ft. of 6" pipe;
5200 lin. ft. of 8" pipe;
1800 lin. ft. of 10" pipe;
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check, payable to City of Anaheim, in an amount not less than ten per cent of the amount of the proposal, as a guarantee that the bidder will, if awarded the contract for furnishing this pipe, execute an agreement in the required form and furnish a faithful performance surety bond, satisfactory to the city, in an amount not less than one-half of the estimated aggregate amount of the payments to be made under this contract.
ITEM 4—CAST IRON FITTINGS
Approximately 10000 pounds of cast iron water pipe fitted in accordance with specifications mentioned under ITEM 2, to be delivered to city store room.
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $50.00, payable to City of Anaheim; such check of the successful bidder will be held until the delivery and acceptance of the fitting.
ITEM 5—CAST IRON VALVE BOXES
Sixty cast iron adjustable valve boxes in accordance with specifications mentioned under ITEM 2, to be delivered to city store room.
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $40.00, payable to City of Anaheim; such check of the successful bidder will be held until the delivery and acceptance of the box.
ITEM 6—GALVANIZED PIPE
The following approximate quantities of standard galvanized screwed pipe and couplings, to be delivered to La Palma Park:
1400 lin. ft. of 4" pipe;
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $125.00, payable to City of Anaheim; such check of the successful bidder will be held until the delivery and acceptance of the pipe.
ITEM 7—SPRINKLER HEADS
The following sprinkler heads, Buckner or equal, for La Palma Park:
3-No. 14 traveler;
12-Sprinkler valves, hoseless;
55-Heads No. 1284, full circle;
57-Heads No. 125-P-4, part circle;
12-Heads No. 1281, full circle;
20-Heads No. 3b;
2-Heads No. 3c;
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $150.00, payable to City of Anaheim; such check of the successful bidder will be held until the delivery and acceptance of the material.
ITEM 8—ELECTRICAL CONDUIT
The following quantities of rigid metallic conduit for La Palma Park:
200 lin. ft. of 3" conduit;
600 lin. ft. of 2½" conduit;
800 lin. ft. of 1¼" conduit;
165 lin. ft. of 1" conduit;
Conduit to be dipped in bath of molten zinc providing a substantial coating of zinc throughout the entire length of the interior as well as the exterior of the conduit, and then to be given a coat of lacquer inside and outside.
Each proposal for this item must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for $50.00, payable to City of Anaheim; such check of the successful bidder will be held until the delivery and acceptance of the conduit.
ITEM 9—CEMENT
Approximately 800 sacks of standard Portland cement, to be delivered to La Palma Park in
4" cast iron water pipe, Class B,
delivered at trench side in La Palma Park. Said pipe to be in accordance with "Specifications for Cast Iron Water Pipe, Series of 1937, City of Anaheim." Each proposal to be accompanied by ten percent check and successful bidder to furnish bond as described under ITEM 3.

ITEM 10—DISINTEGRATED GRANITE
Approximately 1200 tons of disintegrated (decomposed) granite to be delivered to La Palma Avenue between Lemon and Palm Streets.
Said disintegrated granite shall comply with Section 10 of the specifications entitled "State of California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, Standard Specifications, January, 1935," except that the maximum size of the material shall be 1½ inches.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM AMENDING SECTION 19 OF ORDINANCE NO. 487 ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE TRAVEL, TRAFFIC AND USE OF PUBLIC STREETS: ESTABLISHING A BUSINESS DISTRICT AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE BREACH OF ANY OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS IN THIS ORDINANCE."
The City Council of the City of Anaheim does ordain as follows:

Series of Thefts Occur in Anaheim
Two Burglaries and The Petty Larceny Cases Reported Here
The theft of property from the automobiles Sunday night reported to police Monday Clayton Woodbury, 627 S. E. Street, and F. R. Alden, 600 Clementine street.
Woodbury told officers spare tire and wheel was stray from his car while it was parked in front of the Christian church Value of the property was set $10.
An auto clock was stolen Alden's automobile as it parked on a lot across from high school building. The cost was worth $6, Alden said.
In addition to the two Sunday night Anaheim police received reports Friday morning two burglaries and another which occurred Thursday night.
By breaking the glass in a window, burglaries entered the General Petroleum service station of Center and Illinois streets operated by E. J. Sullivan, Jr. An old valued at about $3 and 20 cents change were stolen, the state operator told police.
Two electric motors were stored the same night from the West Fruit Growers packinghouse 805 E. Center street, Jerry M. manager, reported to police. Of the motors was of three horsepower. Value was placed more than $100.
Entrance was gained to a building through an open above a conveyor belt. The back door was opened.

SECTION 19: BOULEVARD STOPS. The following streets and parts of streets are hereby declared to constitute through highways for the purpose of this section:
LOS ANGELES STREET, CENTER STREET, LEMON STREET, PALM STREET, BROADWAY, SANTA ANA STREET, OLIVE STREET, EAST STREET, THAT PORTION OF WEST STREET LYING BETWEEN THE NORTH LINE OF CHESTNUT STREET AND THE SOUTH LINE OF DIAMOND STREET, BALL ROAD, .AND MANCHESTER AVENUE.
Every operator of a vehicle traversing any street intersecting any through highway shall stop such vehicle at the place where such street meets the nearest property line of the through highway before entering such through highway, providing the property line is clearly marked or signposted as required in this ordinance.
The Chief of Police is hereby authorized and required to place and maintain, or to cause to be placed and maintained upon each and every street intersecting a through highway and at or near the property line of the through highway, appropriate signs upon the street or devices or marks in the roadway, such signs, devices or marks to bear the word "STOP" or the words "BOULEVARD STOP" in such position and with letters of a size to be clearly legible from a distance of fifty (50) feet along the street intersecting the through highway.
SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the City of Anaheim shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the Anaheim Gazette, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the City of Anaheim, and thirty (30) days from and after its final passage, it operator told police.

J. B. Head, official of the Anaheim Laundry, reported that suit and two dresses valued $55, had been removed from automobile early Thursday morning. Head placed the garment in the car and then returned to office for a few minutes. He came back to his automobiles the clothes were gone, he said.

Burglaries and Three Petty Larceny Cases Reported Here

Aurance was gained to the ring through an opening in a conveyor belt. The burglaries institute to Orange county has been accepted by the inter-county walnut growers committee of the Farm Bureau, according to announcement from the farm advisor's office. The invitation was extended by the local delegates to the recent Los Angeles conference who were A. D. Smiley, Golden Grove; A. J. McFadden, Santa Ana, Harold E. Wahlberg, Santa Ana, and J. A. Smiley, West Orange.
The date set for the annual conclave is February 11. The place in Orange county will be decided by the program committee, headed by Farm Advisor Harold E. Wahlberg.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH
The Lesson-Sermon on Sunday in all Churches of Christ Scientist-branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, is on the question, "Is the Universe, Including Man, Evolved by Atomic Forces?"
One of the Bible selections includes the verses from Mark: "And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God, And Jesus rebuke him."
adopted for the year include annual institute and field day; economic study of cost of harvesting and drying walnuts; continue study of irrigation and fertilizer responses to walnuts; study plan of removal of marginal orchards; continue pest control investigations. These projects are in cooperation with the agricultural extension service and the experiment station.
The Orange county walnut committee met Tuesday at the farm bureau hall to lay plans for the coming season and cooperate with the inter-county department in the institute program. Rufus Porter, Fullerton, is chairman of the county committee.
Trailer Numbers Required by Law
Before the owner of any trailer or semi-trailer shall be permitted to renew registration in 1938, he shall be required to furnish a vehicle inspection form stating that the factory or division of motor vehicle serial number shown on the last issued registration certificate has been disstamped upon the vehicle on the topside of the tow bar or on the exposed metal of a permanent part of the vehicle. No number may be painted or brunt upon the vehicle.
House trailers weighing 1500 pounds or more, equipped for the road, exclusive of passengers, are required by law to be equipped with brakes that can be operated by driving them.
