SOCIETY CLUBS Piano, Speech Students Offer Recital Monday Piano students of Mrs. Margaret J. Buttree and speech students of Miss Virginia Lee Peterson combined to offer a recital last Monday evening at the home of Mr. Buttree on North Lemon street. Pupils of Mrs. Buttree who took part in the program were Juletta McKim, Mary Joan Alden, Mary Harpster, Kathryn Gauer, Gloria Scott, Barbara Cross, Pauline Kiech, Betty Ruth Boney, Marian Hill and Marian Pickell. Offering readings during the evening were Mary Joan Alden, Eloise Roquet and Charlotte Gauer. Parents and friends of the students were present for the recital. Woman's Relief Corps has Benefit Card Party About 60 men and women participated in the benefit card party given Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Manie Brumagim on Euclid avenue for the A. B. Paul, Woman's Relief Corps. Mrs. Brumagim was assisted in her hostess duties by Mrs. Bessie Fitzpatrick, president of the social club of the corps. Winners during the evening in the games of 500 were Mrs. Grace Keek of Orange, Mrs. W. Thayer, C. Sparks and H. Martin of Anaheim. Those receiving prizes for the bridge games were Mrs. W. S. Small of Anaheim, Mrs. W. F. home of Mrs. Mamie Brumagim on Euclid avenue for the A. B. Paul, Woman's Relief Corps, Mrs. Brumagim was assisted in her hostess duties by Mrs. Bessie Fitzpatrick, president of the social club of the corps. Mattis, of Mr. and Mrs. George Matof South Palm street, on Nober 18 was made here this week. The bride is the daughter Mrs. Fannie L. Breeden of Ron. The marriage was performed at home of Father Huber in Akbore before a group of immediate relatives of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Mattis left immediately for New York City for their honeyon. The romance of the couple belast year in Rio de Janeiro they met at a social function in that city. When Mr. Matobtained a two-months' vacations he and his bride returned the United States to be married. The couple is expected to visit the home of Mr. Mattis' parents within the next few days. Our Mothers club to Meet tomorrow Our Mothers club of the Katelistrict will hold its annual Honor Silver Anniversary of J. A. Bakers The silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baker of West Broadway was commemorated last Sunday when a group of relatives and friends gathered at the Baker home. Included in the group were the honored couples: four children, Warren, Gerald, Eddy and Mrs. George Ellis. Guests presented Mr. and Mrs. Baker with a silver coffee urn, tray, and creamer and sugar. Entertainment during the afternoon featured a mock wedding in which Warren Baker, Mrs. Fannie Lyon, Arthur Baker and Gerald Baker took part. Marjorie Fletcher of Pasadena offered a reading and Warren Baker sang two solos. Those joining in the event were Mr. and Mrs. William B. Shower is Given Monday Honoring Mrs. Elton Snavely Mrs. George Kitchens, Jr., was hostess Monday evening at a layette shower given in honor of Mrs. Elton Snavely of Hansen at the Kitchens home on Savannah street. Feature of the evening's entertainment was a tap dance given in baby costume by Jacqueline and Allen Kitchens, children of the hostess. The remainder of the evening was spent in guessing games, prizes for which were won by Mrs. Al Bushman, Mrs. James Miller and Mrs. Marion Henry. After the honor guest had opened her many gifts, which were presented in a doll buggy, the hostess served refreshments, assisted by Mrs. Mary Wilkerson. A potluck dinner will be held at 6:30 o'clock with each member requested to bring a dish of his choice as well as table service. A birthday cake will be cut and served in honor of those having anniversaries. The program of the evening will be furnished by the Leah Pemberton school of voice, Mrs. Freeman said. Mr. and Mrs. Horace W. Green of Long Beach visited in Anaheim one day last week. Mrs. Green will be remembered here as the former Miss Jessie Witte. She came to Anaheim as a small girl and resided here until her marriage some 40 years ago. J. W. Walls, citrus rancher living on Jefferson avenue, is confined to his home with illness. Boulevard West of Beaumont Repaved U. S. 99 is being graded and paved for 2.4 miles, starting two miles south of the San Bernardino county line and extending to Beaumont, reports the touring department of the National Automobile Club.
