SOCIETY CLUBS Juanita Whitehead, Theodore Dinkler Exchange Vows In an impressive ceremony witnessed by some 400 persons, Miss Juanita Whitehead, daughter of S. E. Whitehead of 918 N. Helena street, became the bride of Theodore Dinkler, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Dinkler of Rio Vista avenue, Sunday afternoon at the White Temple Methodist church. The Rev. R. Kells Swenerton, pastor of the church, officialized at the 4 o'clock service. The bride was attended by Miss Elizabeth Bowlus as maid of honor and Miss Emmaline Dinkler, Miss Katherine Collins, Miss Ellen Collins, Miss Betty Wentz and Miss Mary Whisnant as bridesmaids. Elmer Luchau of Orange served the bridegroom as best man and the ushers were Woodrow Payne of Orange, Henry Akard of Whittier, Raymond Dinkler, Richard Henning and Harold Fehlbaum of Anaheim. Betty Albin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Albin, was the flower girl and Drury Danker was the ring bearer. Preceeding the service Oscar Raasback, noted composer and special guest, played several selections. Miss Lydia Rorem also offered a group of organ numbers prior to the ceremony and accompanied Lyman Harpster who sang "Because" and "O Promise Me." One hundred and forty guests were invited to the reception held Wilbert Bonneys Hosts at Picnic Following Parade A group of Anaheim and Buena Park friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Bonney on South Lemon street last Thursday following the Armistice Day parade at Fullerton for a picnic luncheon and afternoon of informal entertainment. The spacious and attractive yard at the Bonney home was the setting of the picnic. Following the luncheon children of the group played various games while their parents spent the afternoon in conversation. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bonney and son, Russell, Edgar Kahley, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Cranston and children, Eugene and Marjorie, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Curtis and children, Kenneth, Mildred and Beverly, Mr. and Mrs. Don Fehlman and children, Bobby, Dick and Jerry, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Bonney and son, Billy, all of Anaheim; and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Redelberger and children, Donald and Shirley, of Buena Park. Dinner Party is Given by Mr. and Mrs. Kuenzli Six Anaheim couples were invited to be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Kuenzli for a turkey dinner given last week at the Kuenzli home on South Melrose street. Young Ladies Institute Sponsors Benefit Bridge Party Eleven tables were in play last Friday evening when the Young Ladies Institute held a benefit party at the home of Mrs. Victor Peltzer on Cerritos avenue. Decorations were of the Thanksgiving motif as were the tallies and score pads used during the games. Prizes for the games were awarded to Mrs. E. L. Hackley, Miss Mayme Dillon, Clemens Heinz and John Cyprien. Stephen Gallagher was awarded the door prize. Mrs. Peltzer was assisted in refreshments at the close of the evening by Miss Rose Bushman, Miss Elvira Heinz, Miss Margaret Heinz and Mrs. Maurice Dugan. Holy Name Society Entertains with Benefit Card Party More than four hundred men and women of Anaheim and the surrounding area filled the Parish Hall of St. Boniface Catholic church last evening for the annual benefit card party given by the Holy Name society of the church. Games played during the evening were bridge and 500. A large number of prizes were awarded during the evening. Ted Elmers was chairman of the committee in charge of Preceeding the service Oscar Raasback, noted composer and special guest, played several selections. Following the reception the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to St. Louis, New Orleans, Pennsylvania and Detroit. On their return they will make their home in Anaheim where Mr. Dinkler is engaged in orchard care business. Both are graduates of Anaheim union high school. Mrs. Dinkler graduated with the class of 1935 and her husband with the class of 1932. Later Mrs. Dinkler attended Fullerton junior college, studying costume designing. Christmas Party Planned by Past Noble Grands Members of the Past Noble Grands club of the Lois Rebekah lodge held their regular business meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Etta Tuma on South Melrose street. Principal business was the discussion led by Mrs. B. B. Ives of plans for the annual Christmas party. The function will be held at the home of Mrs. Lola Compton on December 9. Each member is to bring a toy to be given to the children's ward of the hospital. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Tuma assisted by Mrs. Dolly Rains and Mrs. Nina Law. Corps Members to Attend Meeting of Federation Members of A. B. Paul Womans Relief corps are planning to attend the meeting of federation number one to be held at the I. Mrs. Lupe Gaxiola Honored on 79th Anniversary Sunday Mrs. Lupe R. Gaxiola celebrated her 79th birthday anniversary last Sunday when she was hostess to a family dinner party at her home at 236 E. Sycamore street. Those who gathered to celebrate the occasion were A. Gaxiola, husband of the honored woman, Mrs. E. Murillo and her daughter, Mrs. J. R. Viosca, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Gaxiola and their son, Claudio, and Tony and Claude Gaxiola. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCH A verse from the Psalms, "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him," is the Golden Text in the Lesson-Sermon on "Soul and Body" on Sunday in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. One of the Bible selections in the Lesson-Sermon cites these verses concerning Jesus, from Luke: "And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what we shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. Principals Named For Elks Benefit Many Prominent Residents of Orange County to Appear in Show With completion of selection of the cast of 12 principal characters for the musical comedy, "Sunny Skies," to be presented as a benefit for their Christmas charity fund by Anaheim lodge of Elks Nov. 29 and 30 in the auditorium of the Anaheim high school, and Dec. 1 at Fullerton high school auditorium, rehearsals of the principal roles are being conducted daily at the Elks clubhouse by Director Perrine G. Somers of the John B. Rogers Production Co. Keen competition for the featured roles resulted in the selection-of-Eveline Rohde of Garden Grove for the leading feminine role of "Beverly," loveliest of the hated Wyndams, and Dr. C. O. Patterson of Anaheim for the principal male lead, "Jeff," Beverly's brother. Elmer Nelson, who seeks Beverly's hand in marriage, will be played by Lloyd Larsen. L. P. Bonnat will interpret the comedy character of "Frank Owens," noted Hollywood star. Other leading roles are "Nola Stanhope" by Norman Hardesen; "Liza," a colored maid, Mrs. Walter J. Ross; "Col. Andy Knight," a southern gentleman, by Elmer Corps Members to Attend Meeting of Federation Members of A. B. Paul Womans Relief corps are planning to attend the meeting of federation number one to be held at the I. O. O. F. hall in Whittier next Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Arrangements were discussed at the meeting of the corps here last Tuesday. Other business during the meeting was confined to routine matters and receiving of reports by the child welfare, relief, calls and bouquets committees. Mrs. Mary Mitchell presided. The social club of the Anaheim corps will meet with Mrs. Elizabeth Sparks on West Ball road next Tuesday, it was announced. A potluck luncheon will be held at noon with a business meeting to follow. County Baptists Meet In Anaheim Two-Day Session of Santa Ana Valley Group is Being Held Here Approximately 500 members of Baptists churches of Orange county are in Anaheim today and will return tomorrow to attend the 45th annual meeting of the Santa Ana Valley Baptist association. Meeting are being held at the Calvary Baptist church here with the Rev. Birnacy S. Hudson the host pastor. Several prominent ministers of the Baptist denominations as well as lay members of the church will take part in the two-day session.
