Blouses Furnish Variety to Suits
In a season when suits are so important, it is only natural that blouses should share the spotlight with them, particularly because there is a blouse for every suit—and often a variety of blouses to make each suit seem like several.
The three piece suit, for example, takes to casual blouses. The mannish suit is accompanied by the shirt type of blouse. The casual hip suit requires equally casual blouses. Dressy blouses work magic with the costume suit, and there's a variety of formal blouses not only for the afternoon, but for the "don't dress for dinner" occasions which will be plentiful this fall and winter.
Just as there is draped treatment is dressier dresses, so it occurs in the dresser blouses. There are couturiere' details that warrant this season's blouses being costlier than usual in the past; and they include lots of stitched accents, hand-saddle stitching on tailored types; cording and shirring, tucking and fagotting, embroidery and passementerie, and loads of little pockets.
There are excitingly new accessories applied to blouses, to make them amusingly desirable, such as zippers at center, back, side or shoulders—matching or in contrasting color. Buttons are beautiful, in pearl, crystal, or composition. The more tailored blouses take the shirt studs borrowed the men, and there's a plentitude of novelties such as alphabets, animals, fish, nuts, flowers, and balls in miniature.
Skirt Lengths Rise in Daytime Dresses

Sweeping Gesture Made by New Millinery of Smartest Desire
There are so many fascinating influences to the new millinery that it almost seems impossible to do them justice in mere words. But the woman who goes out early to see them . . . to try them on . . . to glory in in their dramatic flattery, will appreciate that here is too much splendor to be described in black and white!
Outstandingly effective are the 1900 themes, called the Naughty Nought revivals, whose brims sweep up from the side in lifted profile silhouette, revive boater shapes, and take to dashing ostrich trimmings.
The Corporation is long since past, but its influence remains strong on the world of woman's fashion: one of the most effective outgrowths being the inspiration provided by visiting East Indian potentates' headgear. There are definitely traceable East Indian themes in magnificent turbans for fall, following out the desired sculptured crown height.
Turning to Paris, fountain-head for most that is significant in millinery, we find the Directoire influence predominating, setting little tricorns and bonnets on heads of curls, with far-fetched trimnings that make ladies feel like acting coily demure once more.
By the time the designers get through modifying these three influences, we find fall hats resolved to five rather definite silhouettes. There is—for one—the turban or chechia, whose newest feature is rising height, and in this classification must come the little tricorne-shaped turban, and the very shallow turban that twists a wisp of fabric around a shallow little crown.
Next we have the brimmed hats, which offer an ample variety to please every taste, to suit every costume, and to satisfy every fashion whim. There is the profile brim, most reminful of the treatment in the Frivolous named by Schiaparelli. The face beret continues to younger girl's favorite, lifted from the face, with top trimming. Very, very and trickily becoming, is the beret something like a Dutch cap. Several ingenious things done with the soft crown may be pulled back, bonnet folded forward, the visor ring juntily over the eyes.
Those fashion leaders who wearying of the beret, we the calot with eager heart continues for fall whether peaked crown, or with heighted by means of trimming.
Pill boxes are another version, either in shadow which sets perkily on one of the head.
There are devotees of kink to such an extent that they it above all other daytime items; and surely it may be that with the variety of style offered, a complete daytime robe may be assembled in classic or fanciful.

Skirt Lengths Rise in Daytime Dresses
Those faithful followers of fashion who are all flustered by the changes of skirt lengths need no more be puzzled as to "how long is right" because authorities have definitely evolved the new standards by which we'll dress.
For street and sportswear, from 13 to 14 inches from the ground is accepted: while for afternoon wear 12 inches from the ground is correct. Only one thing should be remembered—and that is, that the women those legs aren't sufficiently attractive to be exposed, looks much smarter in a dress of moderate length.
