Golden Wedding Anniversary
Will be Observed Tomorrow
by Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Lewis
On April 9, 1887, Arthur L. Lewis and Miss Louise M. Mosseman were married at a quiet ceremony conducted in Anaheim. Tomorrow the couple will even more quietly observe their golden wedding anniversary.
No parties or frills are planned, due somewhat to the fact that Mrs. Lewis had just recently recovered from an illness of several weeks. Their two sons, Fafayette A. Lewis and Leland B. Lewis, both of Whittler, and their families will visit at the Lewis home on West Lincoln avenue for a while.
Only relatives and a few close friends attended the wedding in 1887 which united a daughter of a pioneer family to a youth whose home had been Anaheim since he was 11 years old. The then Miss Louise Mosseman is the daughter of the late Christian and Frances Mosseman.
The Anaheim Gazette of April 11, 1912, carried the following news item, reporting on a party given for Mr. and Mrs. Lewis in honor of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary:
"Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lewis were given a delightful surprise on Tuesday evening, it being the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding, which occurred in this city. April 9, 1887. The guests to the number of 40 met at the home of William McLaughlin and went in a body to the scene of the festivities.
"A second marriage ceremony was performed by Mr. McLaughlin. After the ceremony Fayette Lewis read the account of the wedding appearing in the Gazette 25 years ago. Each guest brought the oldest picture of himself extant and much nerriment was excited thereby. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis received many handsome pieces of silver, among them being two sets of silver salad forks, presented by the members of the O. M. B. and Four-Four clubs.
Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Lewis, Miss Cora Lewis, Fayette Lewis, Mosseman and Misses Clara Adela Mosseman came down the evening train. Mrs. Moses will remain a few days, but others returned home yesterday."

QUALITY... BUT
This ONE TASTES BETTER...
BECAUSE BROILED WITH GAS!
Only one household fuel provides the right kind of heat to broil steaks that are marvels of tenderness, juiciness, brownness and flavor. That fuel is gas; for genuine broiling requires first, live, radiant heat and second, quick adjustability.
Gas alone gives you both! Its flame can be instantly adjusted to produce precise degrees of heat. With a modern gas range, you don't need to be an expert cook to enjoy continuous success!
And imagine broilers that are absolutely smokeless. You'll find them on the new gas ranges. Visit your dealer or your gas company, today!
