ARREST EVERYBODY!"
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia—Aft-reporting to Premier Benito Massolini last week that he and guard of 50 had received with incident the homage of thousands of lowland Ethiopians while being recently-conquered South-Ethiopia, Italy's active Vice-Marshal Rodolfo Graziani, sent to 8,000-foot high Addis Ababa to celebrate with his glitting entourage and Ethiopia's active Archbishop of Abuna the arch of a son to-Italy's Crown Prince.
There, as gifts were being handed to the populace, up from milling, shouting, scrambling, flew a flock of hand-greens left over from the Italo-Ethiarian war, Ethiopia's ample Archbishop received ghast-wounds, and Italy's East Afrika air force chief, General Aureliotti, suffered great leg lacerations, Viceroy Graziani, himself wounded but still standing, putted orders to his troops to arrest the whole mob of 2,000.

Coach Arthur L. Nunn and his Fullerton junior college basketball team tomorrow (Friday) night open a three-game series with Long Beach for the cage championship of Southern California.
The first game will be played at Fullerton at 8 o'clock, the second game at Long Beach next Tuesday, and the third game, if necessary, on a neutral court a week from tonight.
The Hornets are seeking their third southern California title in five years. This year, however, they hope to accomplish their purpose without the aid of outside influences. In 1933 Fullerton met Long Beach in one game of the play-off, the Vikings winning. The earthquake cancelled the series and the two schools were declared co-champions.
Two years later the Jackets won twice by Compton.
the starting call tomorrow.
Heading the reserves are Captain Sonny Leichtfuss, former Orange ace, who was forced to give way to Echle about two weeks ago, and Arch Baker of Anaheim. Not as tall as Echle nor as good a shooter, Leichtfuss is probably the best floor man on the squad and is a fiery leader. Baker has shown constant improvement as a guard and now sees his share of service. He is tall and fast and a constant offensive threat.
Long Beach will be no push-over as they, too, are possessed of several outstanding players.
You can't expect all men to have the same principles. The idea that takes one man's shirt, butters another's bread.

Urge Uniformity in Auditor's Reports
Uniform reporting of county expenditures and uniformity in county budgets was adopted as a major project of the State Association of County Auditors at its recent annual convention in Ukiah.
Pointing out that complete and comparable data on county financial transactions are both essential and desirable, the Auditors' association plans include the preparation of necessary reporting forms by a special committee of their association, and recommending such uniform reports to the state Director of Finance for his describing such reports for all counties of the state.
Lenten Meetings at Church to Continue
St. Michael's Episcopal church is holding special Lenten services every Wednesday evening at 7:30 'clock and every Thursday at 10 'clock, it has been announced by the Rev. D. Howard Dow, rector.
Visiting clergy are preaching at the evening services which will continue for another three weeks. All those interested are cordially invited to attend, Rev. Dow said.
Two years later the Jackets were trimmed twice by Compton J. C. only to be handed the title when Compton was found to have played an ineligible man.
Nunn is sending the greatest team he has coached onto the floor in the series and is no worse than an even bet to win. The Hornets swept through their conference schedule of 12 games without a defeat and won 11 out of 16 practice games against strong opposition. Included in the practice games were two played with Long Beach at the start of the season that gave each club a victory.
Paced by Lee Woodward, sterling freshman center, Fullerton has shown a high-scoring offensive, rolling up 1166 points in 28 games for an average of better than 41 points. Woodward accounted for 245 points.
Aiding the lanky pivot man are Nunn's two ace forwards. Ted Neja of Anaheim and Andy Echle. The former has scored 202 points and the latter 172. These three form an offensive trio that is apt to break into a scoring rash at any time and all are excellent floor men as well.
Defensively the Hornets are equally as potent. In Jack Schell, Bill Newsome and Earl Allison, Fullerton has three top-notch guards. Schell is also a high-scorer with 131 points to his credit. Newsome and Allison alternate at the other spot, with the former, a sophomore, likely to get idea that takes one man's shirt, butters another's bread.

Indians Who Rolled in the Snow
Urged on by their Medicine Men, stricken Indians of long-vanished tribes "treated" themselves by rolling in snow and ice. Hopefully, but futilely, they tried to drive from the bodies the "devil" that made them sick.
Now instead of Medicine Men, we have Men of Medicine. Their prescriptions call for drugs, not superstition. That's why we carry over 1800 different drugs, and have two registered pharmacists to compound them. Bring your prescription or refills to this store and they will be filled quickly, accurately.

Acts and Facts of Townsendism
By Walter R. Robb
(This is a non-political, non-partisan column dealing in Townsend news and views, and written by a prominent Townsend leader. Any opinions which are expressed herein are not necessarily those of the Gazette).
Last week's column gave life insurance statistics in proof that 90 out of every 100 of Americans are under a compulsion to accept charity in old age. It pointed out that such a consummation of life for so large a proportion of the nation's citizens was ample evidence of needed economic adjustments such as the Townsend plan method would effect.
This week's column will again dwell on the conditions embodied in the new Townsend bill now before congress. By so doing it will illustrate how instead of economic insecurity in old age there can come into the life of the people a more abundant life.
In paragraph (a) of Section 5 of the act is set out who may become eligible to the life annuities provided for in the bill. It says: "Every person in the United States 60 years of age and over, or who shall attain the age of 60 years after the passage of

under the act. There is necessity for such restriction. A more inclusive attitude would result in a great influx of aliens to our shores and perhaps prohibit the functioning of the plan as intended.
The viewpoint of the Townsend movement is that every honorable concernible why the Townsend plan annuities are to be restricted to those who are full citizens and have been such for a period of not less than five years. Until the Townsend plan the nation
In paragraph (a) of Section 5 of the act is set out who may become eligible to the life annuities provided for in the bill. It says: "Every person in the United States 60 years of age and over, or who shall attain the age of 60 years after the passage of this act, who has been a full citizen of the United States for at least five years, shall be entitled to receive, upon filing application and qualifying as, hereinafter provided, an annuity payable monthly during the life of the annuitant, in a sum to be determined as hereinafter provided in this act."
It will be notice that the language employed gives evidence of the Townsend movement's intention to make universal well being the rule among aged citizens, instead of the want and despair now generally prevalent. The Townsend philosophy is not one of "every fellow take himself and the devil take the hindmost." Neither will it be a practice of "the survival of the fittest" which as a recent writer expressed it "is not always a survival of the best." This said a well known author, "is the law of the jungle" speaking of the survival of the fittest doctrine, with which the writer agrees. The law of the jungle is the law of selfishness, but the law of the Townsend plan is one of brotherhood. My readers will note that the benefactions of the Townsend bill include the blessing of "every citizen 60 years of age and over and those who shall attain the age of 60 years." That last includes all of the now young as well as all of the now old who are citizens. Instead of almost universal failure it provides a way for almost universal success in things financial.

citizens become in point of economic functioning one large family with every individual's effort making sure his own family's well being and also that of his brother's. The profit system is retained with its incentive for use of personal initiative but modernized to make possible the collective effort needed in an industrialized machine age. It harnesses the power of man to the power of a machine age and rewards their cooperation with a new and advanced standard of living for the social order. It harms no legitimate interests of any citizen. In it is included the age long dream of benefits of socialism without resorting to the harm of its leveling processes or the destruction of the profit base of government. In theory and in practice, it propose to approach unto near fulfillment of that great commandment, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself"!
