Ventura County to Seek Water Supply Annexation of a large area in Southeastern Ventura county to the Metropolitan Water district has been advanced in an informal application received by the district board of directors, it was learned yesterday at the office of Board Chairman W. P. Whitsett. Signed by Wayne W. Montgomery, chairman of the water committee for Southeastern Ventura county, the application stated that a representative group of property owners in that territory were interested in securing water from the Metropolitan Water district, and wished to be advised as to the steps to be taken to affect annexation of their territory to the district. Spadra Fullerton ANAHEIM GAZETTE TOPIX BY McCOMB Each club has won three league contests and face the final issue with a clean slate. Contrary to the situation in football if any favorite can be named it is Orange. Dick Glover, however, has built a high-scoring quintet again this year and when this was written the Colonists hadn't been beaten in 11 starts. Chauncey Woodrome and Ted DeVelbiss provide the major scoring punch of the quintet. Coach Hod Chambers also has a high scoring combination at Orange as indicated by the Panthers 44 to 11 victory over Garden Grove last Friday. Big Bob Schildmeyer at center has been the spearhead of the Panthers' attack all year and the battle between him and DeVelbiss should be an interesting sideline to the championship fray. Chambers will probably start the tilt with Schildmeyer at the pivot spot, Llerman and Burbridge at forwards and Amling and Worden as the guards. Barring last minute changes Coach Dick Glover will send Ortez, Woodrome, DeVelbiss, Arnett and Fassel onto the hardwood as his starting quintet. Fullerton Jaysee's point-a-minute basketball team starts the second round of conference play Saturday against Pomona with a clear slate as the result of breaking the Riverside jinx last Saturday. The Hornets came from behind to grab a 30 to 28 win and capture the first victory for a Fullerton team in the Riverside gym in several years. Capt. Sonny Leichtfuss scored the winning basket two seconds before the final gun to cap a rally that had brought the Jackets from 22-28 to the final count in three CHANDLER TO HEAD FERTILIZER GROUP Arthur L. URDAY against Pomona with a clear slate as the result of breaking the Riverside jinx last Saturday. The Hornets came from behind to grab a 30 to 28 win and capture the first victory for a Fullerton team in the Riverside gym in several years. Capt. Sonny Leichtfuss scored the winning basket two seconds before the final gun to cap a rally that had brought the Jackets from 22-28 to the final count in three minutes. Fullerton has captured 12 of the 17 contests played this year, running up a point total of 683, or 40 points per game. Opponents have tallied 530 points. In conference play the Hornets have caged 249 points, one goal short of an even 50 points per game. Ted Neja, two years ago the Orange county league's leading scorer as a member of the Anaheim five, leads the Hornets in scoring in conference games with 49. He has played about half of the total playing time. The idea of dividing the wealth produced by others isn't new, Europe's nobles have always done it.
