My car 'waltzed' around—swerved and finally came to rest on the brink of a ditch. If it had gone over, I'd still be in there... they could have covered me up... WASHINGTON SNAP - SHOTS
(Continued from page 4)
One of the sidelights of the spending business came to light recently when a Southern delegation from a small town came to Washington seeking funds for a new postoffice.
"Do you actually need a new postoffice," one of the leaders was asked.
"Oh, no," was the laughing reply, "but everyone else is getting a slice of the money."
There are powerful indications that Senator Long's domination of the Senate because he could talk the loudest and longest is about ended. When the leadership compelled him to talk himself out through an all night session and then enacted the bill which he was opposing, it was a death-blow. No way has been found yet, though, for halting some of the other soothsayers.
Mr. Roosevelt had hardly announced that Hopkins would be the big-spender before Ickes was out with a blast which came very near to being a direct criticism of the President. In its essence, the fight over the manner of spending lies between the Hopkins theory of shoveling the billions out for any kind of work, and the Ickes plan of allocating the construction funds so as to stimulate private industry and thus take care of many of the unemployed with private payrolls.
In the Hopkins plan the government must undertake to take care of all the 3,500,000 employables who are estimated to be idle. This will be done by made work, with a minimum of materials brought, and intended only to keep idle hands busy. Ickes would undertake major highways, bridges and other types of work which would not only employ direct labor, but would put many others to work indirectly within
SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF FOR ORANGE COUNTRY
The meteorological section of the American Association for the Advancement of Science has invited Farm Advisor Harold E. Wahlberg to present a report of windbreak efficiency at their 19th annual session to be held at the University of California at Los Angeles next Friday.
The Agricultural Extension Service in Orange County has made extensive studies of windbreak protection and its economic value to local citrus orchards. Packing house records compiled by the Farm Advisor have shown the direct benefits of windbreak protection in greater returns to their growers as a result of better quality fruit produced behind the breaks.
Wahlberg's paper will go into all

WAKE UP YOUR LIVER BILE—WITHOUT CALOMEL
And You'll Jump Out of Bed in the Morning Rarin' to Go
If you feel sour and sunk and the world looks punk, don't swallow a lot of salts, mineral water, oil, laxative candy or chewing gum and expect them to make you suddenly sweet and buoyant and full of sunshine.
For they can't do it. They only move the bowels and a mere movement doesn't get at the cause. The reason for your down-and-out feeling is your liver. It should pour out two pounds of liquid bile into your oowels daily.
If this bile is not flowing freely, your food doesn't digest. It just decays in the bowels. Gas bloats up your stomach. You have a thick bad taste and your breath is foul, skin often breaks out in blemishes. Your head aches and you feel down and out. Your whole body is poisoned.
It takes those good, old CARTER'S LITTLE LIVER PILLS to get these two pounds of bile flowing freely and make you feel "up and up." They contain wonderful, harmless, gentle sweets extracts amazing when it comes to making the bile flow freely.
But don't ask for liver pills. Ask for Carter's Little Liver Pills. Look for the name Carter's Little Liver Pills on the red label. Resent a substitute. 25c at drug stores. © 1931 C. M. Co.
