History of Anaheim Officially Recorded In Minutes of Anaheim Water Company, Which are Copyrighted, 1932, by Anaheim Gazette, and Printed In Weekly Installments Anaheim, April 13, 1866. Regular general meeting of stockholders called to order by President J. P. Zeyn. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. The monthly report of treasurer received and referred to Messrs. C. Rust and H. Bremermann to audit. A petition from Mr. Rust, asking what damages he would receive, if the planned ditch through Lot B-6, to supply Wenzel, Hammes, and Horstmann with water, were constructed? Matter referred to incoming board of trustees, also referred to the next board of trustees the changing of ditch on lots E and F-5 to water alley. Next in order was the election of trustees of Anaheim Water company. There being no quorum present, adjournment taken to Saturday, April 14, 1866 at 8 p.m. Meeting adjourned. Louis Durr, Secretary. Anaheim, April 14, 1866. Adjourned general stockholders meeting called to order by President Zeyn. There being a quorum present the following gentlemen were unanimously elected: F. W. Kuelp, A. Luedke, trustee. The treasurer reported cash on hand at head of Lot B-7 was tabled. Notice regarding change in by-laws Article I, Section 1 to read; "On the second Friday of April and September of each year a general meeting of the stockholders shall be held," by John Fischer, was read. Decided to view all ditches of company next Wednesday. Resolved to further investigate the school land warrants. Water sales $28.00 reported. Meeting adjourned. F. W. Kuelp, President. Anaheim, April 27, 1866. Meeting of board of trustees called to order by President Kuelp. Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Bill from zanjero $6.00 labor allowed and ordered paid. Decided to postpone the change of any ditches until next fall. The president reported accidently to have come into possession of a minute book and check book of the Los Angeles Vineyard Society, and turning same over to the secretary. It makes no difference whether the misfortune is the result of natural forces, or the culmination of man's own folly, such periods of strife bring out the best in human beings. Sterling qualities of character and enterprise developed in Anaheim and Southern California when the worst earthquake in the memories of local residents rocked this district March 10. Continued temblors might have created fear and caused havoc in less strong persons, but to Anaheimers and their neighbors, the ANAHEIM GAZETTE order by President Kuelp.
