Buena Park Notes

The body of T. R. Tuckett was found floating in the ocean about two miles out from Redondo. Mr. Tuckett had been a resident of Buena Park about four months. He lived alone in a small house in the Homewood Tract.
A baby girl was born Monday to Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Thibault. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Morgan of Ninth street. Dr. A. H. Foster and wife were in attendance at both arrivals.
James A. Fay of the Southern County Bank is now a notary public.
Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Spohn visited Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jones at their new home at Garden Grove Saturday morning. Mrs. Jones was formerly Miss Hazel Nay of Yorba Linda, whose marriage to Mr. Jones took place Wednesday evening of last week.
Mrs. E. E. Thurman and Mrs. L. T. Wilsey took the jelly collected by the Woman's Club for the disabled soldiers at Camp Kearny, over to Anaheim Saturday.
The congregation of the church was saddened Sunday morning to receive the news of the death of Rev. T. J. Brown, former pastor, at his home in Los Angeles Saturday. The interment was Tuesday at the Inglewood cemetery.
An addition is being built to the Buena Park library.
Mrs. Harold Lodge of El Monte visited Mrs. E. W. Thurman and Mrs. R. H. Meyer Tuesday.
G. D. Snyder, who has been in the hospital, taking treatment after a stroke of paralysis, was brought home Wednesday. He is somewhat improved, and is able to sit in a wheelchair now.
Mr. Fred Van Loenen and Mrs. C. W. Girvin and son Charles moved to Los Angeles Friday to meet Mr. Girvin who returned from a business trip to Holland. Mr. Girvin reported a pleasant passage but says the most enjoyable part of the trip was getting back to California.
Mrs. H. L. Lydick and Mrs. Iva Dragoman returned Wednesday from San Diego, where their mother, Mrs. Lawson's funeral, took place on Tuesday.
Mrs. Wm. Buschwald of Anaheim was the guest of her sister Mrs. S. W. Little Thursday.
One of the largest assemblies ever gathered in Buena Park for events of a like nature greeted the installation of the Eastern Star Friday night.
A number of friends surprised Ted Spohn Thursday evening in honor of his nineteenth birthday. A good time was had by those present and his mother, Mrs. C. A. Spohn, served dainty refreshments.
Lewis Robison was an over night guest of his sister, Mrs. Frank Payton of Fullerton Saturday night and attended the party given by the Honor Society of the Fullerton Union High School.
Miss Gertrude Wells was a week end guest of her aunt, Mrs. Raymond Wilcox of Alhambra.
The P. T. A. hold their December meeting Tuesday at the school house.The third grade gave a patriotic drill.
Mrs. M. S. Berkey, Mrs.J.B.Robison and Mr.And Mrs.J.H.Spohn were Anaheim shoppers Thursday morning.
Albert Moon left Saturday for San Francisco after enjoying a three weeks' furlough from the navy.
Misses Anna, Myrtle and Mabel Miller of Los Angeles, visited their sister Mrs.Richard Morgan Sunday, and made the acquaintance of their new niece.

Charging that her husband beat their young son until the child's life was despaired of, Mrs. Lillian Layton, of Los Alamitos, alleged cruelty in a divorce complaint on file in superior court against Elmer Layton, Los Alamitos blacksmith. Layton, his wife declares, abused her for several years. He objected to her religion and discouraged visitors at their home, she claims. The beating alleged to have been administered to their son took place in October, she said. The Laytons were married in Los Angeles, in 1913, and have two children. They separated last November. Attorneys A. P. Nelson and Kennith Burns are counsel for the plaintiff.
