OUR CHRISTMAS EDITION It is with pardonable pride that we point to The Gazette's splendid Christmas edition published today. The edition consists of eighteen large seven-column pages, printed from new type, and containing a volume of interesting matter suitable for home and eastern readers. Thousands of copies of the issue will be circulated throughout this immediate section, as well as in Orange county and elsewhere in this state, and many go to foreign lands. The edition contains all the news of the week, and a detailed reference to the splendid resources of this city and section. While the pressure of advertising matter is large, the publisher has been compelled to forego the pleasure of printing several hundred inches of paid advertising matter which was offered in the hours just before going to press. The news and job departments of the Gazette have been crowded to high pressure during the entire year, and more work has been turned out than in any previous year of the paper's history. This high pressure upon our force has continued so unceasingly that we have been compelled to turn down work that was offered, simply because of inability to handle it, what with working day and night, Sundays and holidays. To relieve this congested condition of the office, a new and fast cylinder press will shortly be added to our equipment, which will facilitate the turning out of larger editions more expeditiously. A new job press has been recently installed, yet the demands upon the office have been such that we have been unable to keep up with the demands placed upon the me Play Pocket A brand new game of skill--exciting, fun young and old. To relieve this congested condition of the office, a new and fast cylinder press will shortly be added to our equipment, which will facilitate the turning out of larger editions more expeditiously. A new job press has been recently installed, yet the demands upon the office have been such that we have been unable to keep up with the demands placed upon the mechanical equipment. Our Merganthaler lintotype machine is likewise being pushed to the uttermost, and is doing its level best to keep up with the procession. With the installation of our new cylinder press The Gazette will be able to turn out on short notice all kinds of book and color work, the equal if not superior to that turned out in the larger cities of the state. In common with every other establishment in this city The Gazette finds its business expanding in all directions, with bright prospects of continuing in the new year. The closing year has been the greatest as regards business in the history of the city. Anaheim has increased largely in population, and her business men and merchants have kept pace with the onward march of progress. Participating as it does in this substantial growth of the year, and looking forward to a continuance in the years to come, The Gazette wishes its friends and patrons everywhere, A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. LOS ALAMITOS As a fitting ending of the sugar beet season of 1911, card invitations were responded to by a gathering at the grounds near the school. Following is the invitation: "Yourself, family and friends are cordially invited to attend a barbecue at Los Alamitos Saturday, December 16, 1911, given by the Los Alamitos Sugar Company and the Beet Growers Association. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark returned to their home on Sunday evening at 9:30 o'clock after visiting with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Rimpau. On entering their residence on East Center street they found burglars had entered their home, but were evidently frightened away on their approach. Window screens had been cut and windows pried open. Nothing was missed. The fortunate return of Mr. and Mrs. Clark doubtless prevented the loss of property which the thieves were after. J. B. Neff returned on Saturday evening from Redlands, after holding a series of farmers' institutes in the upper valley during last week. He went on Monday morning to Imperial county, and is this week holding meetings in that section. Theo Roberts transacted business with Los Angeles wholesalers Tuesday.
