NOTHING DOING IN OIL. Royer Wants Street Oiled; Trustees Have No Funds. The Board of City Trustees met in regular session on Thursday evening; present Trustees Rust, Gates, Kroeger, Stock, and Fiscus. Street superintendent reported numerous water connections made to new dwellings, and the alley between Center and Chartress streets opened from Lemon street as far as the Warner property. The finance committee reported the auditing of bills to the amount of $9.65. The ordinance committee presented Ordinance No. 207, relative to the widening of North Los Angeles street. The same will be found printed in another column. Building permits were granted as follows: A. L. Lewis. dwelling on Broadway, cost $1900. H. A. Strodthoff, corrugated shed on West Center street, cost $50. R. A. Heinricks, dwelling on East Center, cost $900. M. A. Meinicker, dwelling on South Los Angeles street, cost $1200. M. A. Kruger, dwelling on Vine street, cost $500. Charles Lange of Loara, presented a petition asking for a revision of the license ordinance in order that he may do business within the city limits. His plaintive plea was referred to the Ordinance Committee. J. O. Royer and others petitioned that South street be oiled. The board on account of no funds at present, was unable to grant the request. Just so soon as the opportunity presents all outlying streets will be oil-ed and put in good shape. NOTICE OF PUBLIC WEEKLY NOTICE Notice of the passage of a bill by the Board of Trustees of Anaheim declaring it to order the widening of Angeles Street in said City. That the land which was board of trustees deemed to be its said resolution was declared necessary to be taken for sale improvement, is described to-wit: All that certain land situated and being in said City of Anaheim particularly described as follow: Beginning at the Northeast corner of Vineyard Lot G4, as shown map recorded in Book 4 of Dept. 629 and 630, Records of Los County, California, and running Southerly along the Easterly said Vineyard Lot 793.41 feet Southeasterly corner thereof; Westerly along the Southerly Vineyard Lot 9 feet; thence nor parallel with the Easterly line Vineyard Lot 793.41 feet to adhere to the Northerly line thereof; Easterly along the Northerly Vineyard Lot 9 feet to the beginning. Also, beginning at a point Westerly line of Vineyard Lot shown on the map aforesaid, Southerly from the Northwestern said Vineyard Lot and thence Southerly along the West of said Vineyard Lot 432.5 feet Southwesterly corner thereof; Easterly along the Southerly Vineyard Lot 10 feet; thence nor parallel to the West of said Vineyard Lot 432.5 feet thence Westerly and parallel Northerly line of said Vineyard feet to the point of beginning. Also, beginning at the North corner of Vineyard Lot H3 on the map aforesaid and thence Southerly along the West thereof 795 feet to the South corner thereof; thence Easterly the Southerly line of said Vineyard 10 feet; thence Northerly and to the Westerly line of said Lot 795 feet to a point on the early line thereof, and thence along the Northerly line of said J. O. Royer and others petitioned that South street be oiled. The board on account of no funds at present, was unable to grant the request. Just so soon as the opportunity presents all outlying streets will be oilled and put in good shape. Charles Schindler appeared before the council and suggested that the block west of East street, between Center and Broadway, be replatted, so that the streets therein would have some semblance of uniformity with those in adjoining blocks. It appears that as at present laid out, streets have numerous jogs. The board viewed Mr. Schindler's suggestion with approval. A map of the new block will be submitted to the board at the next regular meeting, when it will be formally accepted. Sam Lee, the king of Chinatown, appeared before the board and asked for permission to erect several little rooms along his quarters in Chinatown. In fact, Sam had already built the rooms, and then applied for permission to erect them. As the policy of the board in future is to do away with building small unsightly structures within the fire limits Sam was ordered to raze his bungalows. The moving about of old shacks within the fire limits is also to be frowned down. The widening of West Center street is progressing and all the property owners excepting one, have announced their intention of giving deeds for the widening strips. It is folly for owners to refuse to give deeds when streets are to be widened, because the city has the power to compel them to do so, and when districts are formed for that purpose the cost is greatly increased to the owners.
