Railroad.
The Texas Pacific Railroad Company are awaiting the action of the Texas Legislature on the gauge question, and as an as that is decided it is said that they will commence the work of construction.
Fireman's Ball — A good ball is to be given by the Anaheim Fire Department, next Saturday when backed by the owner's members of the Department must prove a complete success Enterprise Hall, where this ball is to hold has already become the recognized locale of similar affairs and a good time is to be expected. The price of tickets for Ladies and Gent. (including supper) has been fixed at the sum of $2,50.
Funds Exhausted. - The public money for support of Fairview school having been all expended, the citizens of the District with a commendable zeal have resolved to continue the school under two present teacher. Mr. Martin, at private expense. This action is a compliment to Mr. Martin besides reflecting much credit upon the people of Fairview.
Races - Four days racing over the San Bernardino Race Track will commence on Tuesday the 21st of November free for all horses in the District, comprising the counties of San Bernardino, San Diego, Los Angeles, Kern and Santa Barbara. We understand that San Diego and Los Angeles will have some of their fast trotters and runners up, to vie with San Bernardino in the contest for speed — Guardian.

Norway Oats — This famous cereal which has gained such a world wide reputation for immense yield has, we are glad to see, been cultivated here with the same success that characterizes it elsewhere. Mr. Robert Ashcroft at his beautiful home at the Boca de la Playa ranch sowed this year three acres, using 32 pounds of seed per acre and the result is 225 bushels, or 75 bushels per acre. The grain was threshed by Mr. Hanna about three weeks ago. Langenberger & Co., have seed of the same variety for sale, and we hope to see it generally sowed the coming season.
Improvements — Capt. Knox has built unto himself a new office adjoining the house lately occupied for that purpose. Arnold & Baldwin have erected a considerable bleed lition to their already commodious shop on Lemon Street. This look like business.
Schooner Solano — This schooner, bereft of erroneously reported as floated to Wilmington for repairs, is we learn still on the inside bar at Newport, and not likely to leave there except in pieces. Part of her bottom is gone, also the rudder, and she proves to be much more badly damaged than was at first supposed. It is now likely that she will be a total wreck. Every effort has been made to save her, without avail. Capt. Johnson intends to procure another vessel and make regular trips between Newport and San Francisco.

Attachment Suit — The office of the People's Advocate was closed by the Sheriff on Wednesday last by virtue of a writ of attachment issued out of the District Court at the suit of King & White of Los Angeles, to recover some $750 due for press materials etc and $100 costs.
Church Festival — A festival is to be given by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church at Keneda Hall on Thursday 19th June, because needs for the building of a church. Ice cream and other refreshments will be furnished. A total of five hundred dollars the proceeds from this event hold for the same old money or hand and deposit with Baronberger & Co., ready for use when required. For later particulars or the festival will be given next week.
Old Follows Meeting. At the meeting held last Monday evening a committee was appointed to take the preliminary steps toward the organization of a judge.
