The definitions are numbered to correspond with the numbers on the diagram. Any word defined in the text under "Horizontal" will begin at its number, shown on the diagram, and will extend all the way across to the first black space to the right of that number. That is, the word must begin in the square that contains its identifying number and extend as far as the white squares continue uninterruptedly. Any word defined under "Vertical" will also begin in the white space that contains its number, but will extend downward as far as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly. That's the way persons who know tell of what has happened to Brea with the revival of activity in the oil field including the canyon. Frank Mason, formerly publicity man of Brea C. of C., confirmed this statement of the Brea Progress, and Mrs. Grace L. May, city clerk, altho not quite so optimistic as the others agreed that much was the fact. The two former went so far as to say that gas meters were being installed at the rate of four to six daily. Three or four water connections per week, with sometimes several apartments or flats affected in each instance, were being made, Mrs. May explained. The Union Oil Co. of Calif. has been particularly active, but one or two of the other big companies and several of the small ones also have been busy. The work consists not only in deepening old wells, in one of which a new sand was discovered according to apparently reliable reports, but in wild-catting. SEES HORE OF IMPROVEMENT IN ARMY AIRCRAFT AS RESULT OF PHOTOS "The United States was a half ahead of other nations in pursuit, training and serviation airplanes, but we no adequate bombing planeiment," Maj. Gen. Mason Micklechief of the army air service said in an address in York. General Patrick quoted Admiral Duval of France, Admiral Kerr and Bonar Law of England Marchall Foch and Freed Coolidge in support of the war that adequate airplane equipment was indispensable. "We have had a little motion recently in Washington over our air service, and of our people dropped bombs," he continued. "Then there was a broom from the navy, a number of explosions, and even Admiral Sims got into the fray and loose with his own big Jim in hopes that out mess will come some good that will solve our nation's foe problems in order keep things on a working all of our defense agencies function during times of peace the need of applications. The time has not for a separate department aeronautics I believe we have a separate department general defense The pro is too busy to settle the questions which develop army and navy." A soft artery turneth away plexy. The most economical little man is a Class Ad in this "Coming Through" is a story of coal mining and coal miners, adapted to the screen by Paul Schofield from Jack Bethea's popular novel, "Bed Rock." Lila Lee is featured in the leading woman's role. Wallace Beery heads the supporting cast which also includes such prominent stage and screen players as John Mittern, Frank Campanu and Laurance Wheat. Tom's role is that of Tom Blackford employed with a big steel corporation. He is shipped off to the company's mines at Colton, just outside of Birmingham, as superintendent. Here the real action starts. The big punch scenes in the picture include a hand-to-hand fight between Meighan and Beery on a skeleton framework about 60 feet above ground. Beery is beaten and takes a "header" to a rock below. You've seen screen fights before, but never anything that quite comes up to this. Another funny Mack Sennett comedy, "Three Foolish Weeks," with Ben Turpin in leading role, and International News completes the program.
