GRIPPING DRAMA AT THE UNITED
"Daring Love," the screen adaptation of Albert Payson Terhune's well-known novel "Driftwood," in which the talented Elaine Hammerstein plays the leading role, comes to the United Theatre tonight for an engagement of two nights. "Daring Love" is an unusually dramatic story of the ornance which came into the life of an entertainer in a tawdry little cafe. A husband, driven to extremes by his wife who is carrying on an affair with another man, comes to the café and tricks the girl into furnishing the evi-

This is one championship that Anaheim is going to win, declares Coach Fitzmorris. Although the team should lose, it would still stand second in the south.
The varsity or "A" team, which lost, was one of the best eight teams in its class, and "B" team was one of 16 best.

AMPA, Fla., March 10—If past performances are worth weight in pink sleeve garters, the Washington Senators today are 25 percent a better ball club than the outfit which won the championship of the world no later than last October.
This statement was made today by Stanley Harris, managerial Horatio Alger of Major League baseball. Stanley, it would seem is not one of those I-view-with-alarm specimens. Quite the contrary, he points with pride.
The oratorical gesture, in this case, is directed toward what might be termed exhibition A, comprising three gentlemen who combine age, experience and the ability to fool all of the batters some of the time. The trio is mad up of Dutch Reuther, Stanley Coveleskie and Vean Gregg, acquired mid-winter deals that cost the club less than nothing at all in player strength.
Lest his statements be confounded with these of the attorney for the defense, Stanley coppers his best with one proviso. He asks only that the men in question live up to their immediate past.
Granting that they do, the juvenile is willing to bet his right to breath that Reuther and Coveleskie will win 30 games between them and that Gregg will add at least ten more.
"They don't represent all the paper strength we have gained however," quoth Stanley. "We almost lost the pennant and later the world's series because we did not have an adequate reserve in fielder. We have him now in Mike McNally, who can jump in and play second, third or shortstop over almost any stated period."
"Bluegee and McNeely will be better for the experience they gained last year. The latter broke
The story is told in gripping dramatic fashion under the direction of R. O. Edwards, and "Daring Love" brings to the fans an entirely new and different Elaine Hammorstein, in a role the type of which she has never before essayed to portray. Beside the part of a bit of driftwood she plays in the early portion of the picture, she is also seen as the wife of the governor of the state having reached that high estate through the regenerating and reclaiming powers of love.
An all-star cast supports the star in the picturization of this Albert Payson Terhune story. As the male lead opposite Miss Hammorstein, Huntley Gordon plays a difficult role with suppressed emotion and all of the talent he is famed for. Walter Long, well-known portrayer of "heavy" types, plays "Red Bishop," with Johnny Arthur and Clay Pittzerald furnishing the light moment for the play, Gertrude Astor and Morgan Wallace round out a cast of surpassing excellence.

There will also be a second varsity team for which 14 boys have come out. These of course are included in the 70.

STOKES DEFENSE WINDS UP TODAY CHICAGO, March 10. The defense of W. E. D. Stokes, 73, New York millionaire, and Robt. F. Lee, colored Ghileagoon, to charges they conspired to defame Mrs. Helen Elwod Stokes, rested unexpectedly this afternoon.

Mystery, drama, action and laughs—that's the order at California where the new Paramount picture, "40 Winks," will be seen final times tonight.
Rammond Griffith, Viola Dana and Theodore Roberts are featured states in this melodramatic comedy that certainly brought the house down with laughter last night.
The screen play was taken from the stage play, "Lord Chumley," by David Belasco and Henry C. DeMille.
A very capable cast, including Anna May Wong, William Boyd and Cyril Chadwick, support the stars.
"Forty Winks" was made with the idea of entertaining people and with its fast and furious action, its gripping mystery and its side-splitting laughs it sure does.
Will Rogers in another of his famous comedies, "Gee Whiz Genevieve," and a late issue of International News completes the program.
THIRD ASSISTANT FARM ADVISOR H. E. Wahlberg, farm advisor, and W. M. Cory assistant, are to have an edge. This was assured today by supervisors who passed unanimously a resolution pledging $1500 appropriation for a third advisor.

Licensed Chiropractor
I wish to announce to my friends and patients that I am not sick and unable to work, as has been reported.
The cause of my not practicing was of a very different nature.
I am still at my old place of business. My policy is honesty and justice for all.
I have no instruments in my office to relieve people's pocketbooks of their hard-earned money, for my 8½ years of successful practice in Anaheim has taught me that nature's own remedies are the only cure for disease.
Chiropractic means done by hand and by adjusting the spinal column with the hands ONLY.
I remove the cause of disease, letting nature do all the healing.
