NEW FEATURE TO PACKING PROCESS
Savings of many thousands of dollars each season will be effected by the Anaheim Co-operative Orange Am'n. thru a new process operated for the first time today, when packing of navels on a scale started. The process is known as the Brodges and Brodike system, whereby the fruit is first treated in a solution so as to check decay by blue mold and then dipped in paraffine wax which closes the pores, making ice unnecessary, regardless of season.
Around a score of M. O. D. houses have the equipment already for the first time and all of them will have it.
The fruit is washed first, as at present.
Manager J. H. Ritchie recited the following means of saving from the process:
The cost is 6 1/2 cents per box, compared with 22 1/2 cents to New York City for leing.
An estimated 2 to 3 per cent loss by decay is averted.
There is no loss by shrinkage, because the fruit remains as fresh as it was in the house. Consequently, also, the fruit need not be packed so tightly as to allow for shrinkage; it is kept in natural its shape and its appearance as to form is superior.
Its appearance is improved also by the gloss which is given the skin.
Fruit otherwise fine, which would have to be rejected as culls because it would not, because of over-ripeness, be in prime condition when sold three weeks hence say, can be shipped the same other fruit. Hence the percentage of culls will be diminished.
This processed fruit can remain in storage for three months—last summer it so remained from May to October—without deterioration. Consequently, even the congestion on the markets occurs, no need for dumping will arise. Fruit will not be sold to prevent its rotting on the hands of the jobber.
If the machinery and process fail to make good the claims of its inventors, they and their backers are the losers, and they will take it out at their own expense.
Propose Compromise on Boulder Dam Compact
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7. — Commercial proposals through which it was hoped to obtain Arizona's rutilification of the Colorado river compact were made by Governor James G. Schrugham of Nevada to Governor W. P. Hunt of Arizona in a conference of the two state executives here today.
In the hope of winning Governor Hunt over to support of the compact, which the Arizona official has strenuously opposed, Gov. Schrugham arranged the conference and submitted several proposals to Hunt. Arizona is the only one of eight states named in the compact which has not signed it.
The nature of his proposals was not divulged by Governor Schrugham, who declared that their publication would defeat his object in meeting with Governor Hunt.
A tooth decayed is precaution delayed.
Telegraph Co.
San Francisco's had 195,824 stations on the same date.
San Diego stood second in percentage gain in Group 1, with 8.26 per cent or 1922 stations, making a total of 25,000.
N. R. Powley of Los Angeles has been promoted from former division commercial superintendent to general manager of the southern division.
MAKES FAT PEOPLE SLIM
New York Physician Perfecta Harmless Method of Reducing Weight
The loss of as much as a pound of excess fat a day with no harmful results is the record made by many patients of Dr. R. Newman, a licensed practicing physician of 286 Fifth Avenue, New York, who announces that he has perfected a treatment which has quickly rid fat people of excess weight. What is more remarkable is the Doctor's statement that he has successfully treated thousands of patients for fat reduction without change of diet.
BIG GROWTH IN PHONE EXCHANGE
Reporting a gain to 2,023 stations in the Anaheim exchange during the past year and a jump in local calls to 10,000 per day on the average, Manager E. A. Beard today voiced his satisfaction in the continued growth of business.
Los Angeles on Nov. 1 had 252,457 stations, a growth of 15.45 per cent since Jan. 1, 1924, by far the largest of any city in Group I of 20,000 stations or over in the system of the Pacific Telephone & City Dept. R4- (Advertisement.)

Your Cross Word Puzzle
HOW TO SOLVE THE CROSS WORD PUZZLE
The way to solve the Cross Word Puzzle is to fill in the white squares of the diagram with the words which agree with the acronym definitions. The definitions are numbered eo corres- with the numbers on the diagram.
Any word defined in the text under "HORIZONTAL" will be its number, shown in the diagram, and will extend all the cross to the first black space to the right of that number. The word must begin in the square that contains its iden- number, and extend as far as the white squares continue crruptedly.
Any word defined under "VERTICAL" will also begin in the space that contains its number, but will extend downward as the white spaces remain uninterruptedly.

OBTAIN COPIES OF MID-WINTER TIMES
The C. of C. has available a limited number of copies of the mid-winter number of the Los Angeles Times, which Anaheimers may have to send to their friends back east.
This issue of the Times effectively disposes of the stories of business depression being published in various sections of the east and mid west, which dislike losing population by removal to California.

Thousands Of Women Are Now Taking This Easily Absorbed Iron
Worn-out Housewife Tells How Sba Quickly Regained Her Health and Strength
"Only a short two weeks ago I was so tired, nervous and worn out from the drain on my nerves and strength of heart hold drugery, that I thought I could not keep up another day.
"A short two weeks' treatment of the newer form of easily absorbed iron has given me a marvelous increase in health, strength and energy. Now I can do my whole house without help, and I would have to sit at home in the evening 'all-in,' sick and nervous."
The above is a typical hypothetical case-said a well-known physician, formerly of Bellevue Hospital (Out-Door Dept.) New York, and the Westchester County Hospital, recently. "You cannot be well and strong and full of life without an adequate iron blood is rich in iron. It is your red blood that enables you to resist and overcome disease and that nourishes every organ in your body. Without iron your blood becomes thin, pale and watery. Your blood cannot nourish your skin unless she wears iron pains in your heart or kidneys, indigestion headache, and feel all 'run-down' and tired out."
When your blood lacks iron, do not waste time taking stimulating medicines or narcotic drugs, but directly enrich your blood with the newer form of iron sold by all drugstores under the name of Nuxated Iron, which is like the iron inpinch, lentil, and apples, and is in a form easier assimilated by your blood.
Get a bottle of Nuxated Iron today. Take it for two weeks and if you have not, like thousands of others, obtained most surprising health, strength and energy, the manufacturers will promptly refund your money. Any druggist will sell you Nuxated Iron with this "satisfaction or money back" guarantee.
