Munger Starting off with a roar of and producing enough oil along with the muo and water at 477 the Sentinel Oil Company's Northwest Athens well Brown No. has made a showing that is sufficient to warrant the prediction of production. A string of was set and cemented at 188 and the test of the hole from this point to the bottom 1447 reveal the fact that oil commercial quantity will be produced north of 124th street and the concern about the northwest area making good will no longer be the cause of any apprehension it is just a question now of getting the Sentinel well cleaned up and a gauge of the tanks on quantity and quality of the production. That the well is a live one is evidenced by the fact that the ceasing and tubing carry pressures of 675 and 375 respectively. This is the highest gas pressure yet noted at Thenea. Interesting developments are taking place for B. J. Miley on his famous Athens No. 1. The well made a good record on production for a number of weeks at 4947. The output declined and Miller decided to put the well down and find out just how much sand there is there. At 4896 the production sand pinched out but was picked up again at 5056. Just how far those lower sand will continue will be determined by core drilling. In the realm of deep drilling at Athens-Rosecrans the General Petroleum's Amstoy T heads the flat. The Amstoy, a central west east hole, is down 6550 feet and has nothing particularly good to exhibit. The Ulon Oil Company Gordon 1 is next with 5775 feet in hole. The Gordon seems to mark the limits of the southwest proven area of the field Hellman No. 1 down 5870 feet, and to date has little that looks like commercial production. The Birch Oil Company in an endeavor to extend the southwest line of the field is drilling on the Humphries No. 1 at 5850 and has no showings. Deep test work at Torrance is not meeting with much success. The Chanster-Canfield's Francis No. 1 at 6536 has a lot of drill pipe in the hole, and the chances for its recovery are slim. To date this deep well has not had a showing of importance and its loss could be taken without a lot of regret. The Shell Company has its Kettler 2 nearing the 5400 mark but without any showings. The Laura J. Oil Company in its Lomita District test well at 4780 is still battling with water difficulties and will not be ready to make a production test for some little time. The Standard Oil Company has passed the 5900 mark at Rideout Heights without finding any production. This is the deepest well drilled on the prospective property that looked like a million dollars a year ago. The Standard Patten well at 5902 is deep enough to preclude and idea of picking up a deep sand and makes the outlook for the field look anything but encouraging. The Peroleum Midwes has four deep wells all down deep enough to get something if there was anything there to get. Culver City has earned a place on the oil map of the Los Angeles Basin with some actual production. The Mohawk Oil and Gas Company, after two years of hard work and having all kinds of trouble financing and failing to interest oil men who could help, have a well that is making 150-200 barrels. The Mohawk drilled the No. 1 to 2240 feet and got a 16 grade producer. The question of whether or not the Mohawk Oil and Gas Co., should... At 4398 the production sand pinched out but was picked up again at 6066. Just how far the lower sand will continue will be determined by core drilling. In the realm of deep drilling at Athens-Rosecrans General Petroleum's Amstoy I heads the list. The Amstoy, a central west test hole, is down 6550 feet and has nothing particularly good to exhibit. The Ulon Oil Company Jordan 1 is next with 5775 feet of hole. The Gordon seems to mark the limits of the southwest section of the field. The Standard Oil Company's Cowan 1, a southeast limit marker is next with 5600 feet of hole. The wan, like the other deep wells filling in the Athens-Rosecrans sea is not in any immediate need of storage facilities. At Domingues Associated Oil access is getting to be the habit. A few days ago the Associated completed its fourth well on the Holly-DeFrancis lease No. 1B, and got a 4466 barrel well. The little 50 acre DeFrancis property now has five wells producing, whose aggregate is better than 20,000 barrels daily. DeFrancis No. 17, the last completed represents an 82 day drilling job, a record for the Dominguez field. The deep drilling exploration work at Domingues is being taken care of by the Shell and Birch Oil Company's. The Shell company is drilling a test well in the service courtly. From the Lady behind the counter at the Gas Office, from the man who reads your gas meter, from the service man and appliance expert, from the office boy and from each of your public servants at the Gas Office comes this message to you.
