SCOTT WILL FACE ANOTHER GRILLING
AL.PENA, Mich., Dec. 31. Rep. Frank D. Scott of Mice, who is using his wife for divorce, was to undergo another stiff grilling on the witness stand today concerning the alleged drinking and gambling for high stakes by members of congregations and the so-called fast set in Washington.
Testifying late yesterday, Scott declared that congressmen allowed him followed the tradition laid down by 'Uncle Joe' Cannon of Illinois—to stick to a ten cent limit."
Scott denied he ever lost $500 at one eating or that Rep. Alisa Moore of Monticello, Ill., with whom he is alleged to have played steadily at the Boor's Neat but K Street in Washington, had ever endorsed his vote for 4,000 to cover losses at cards.
Scott was much more vague concerning charges that he imported liquor from Panama on trips he took there with congressmen and to drinking on board the steamboat Christobol.
War Peck counsel for Mrs. Scott named several members of congress and public officials whom the wife charged Scott often gambled with.
Scott declared he had never played cards more than a dozen times at the New Willard nor more than half that many at the Boor's Neat," he said he knew the importation of liquor was wrong and admitted he had not paid any duty of any sort on his baggage on returning from either of his trips to Panama but insisted that he had not knowingly taken advantage of the privilege called "freedom of the port."
"Will you deny that you drank anything on the steamer Christobol while returning from your first trip?" Peck asked.
"No, I don't deny that I took some drinks."
"Do you remember Mr. Tichner (congressman J. N. Tichner from Medicine Lodge, Kansas) going from one stateroom to an other."

BURNED SHIP IS TOWED INTO PORT
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 31—With the fire in her holds that cost the lives of two babies and painful injuries to several other passengers under control, the Japanese liner Ginyo Maru was being slowly towed toward Manzanillo, Mexico, today by the Pacific Mail liner City of San Francisco while the freighter Julia Luekenbch which rescued her human cargo proceeded to the same port with her passengers.
The heroism of Capt. Yawato who with five officers remained aboard the Ginyo Maru and in face of the constant danger of a terrific nitrate explosion found the blaze resulted in saving the ship, meager wireless advises today said. They were joined—its 25 other picked men who had manned the lifeboats.
The passengers were saleop when the fire was discovered and it was due to this that lives were lost, according to advises to the T. K. K. Co., owners of the vessel.

By Roy K. Bishop, Chairman, Bee men's Dept. Orange co., Farm Bureau.
The honey industry of So. Calif will have an opportunity to submit important measures thru the Legislative Committee of the California State Beekeeper's Assn at a special meeting in the Farm Bureau headquarters at Sapta Ana. Delegates representing the honey industry from all the southern counties will assemble Saturday, Jan. 10 at 10 n.m. to discuss the important issues before the beekeepers at the present time, particularly in reference to the enforcement of state bee laws. There is a growing demand on part of the beekeepers that more efficiency should be brought into the enforcement of protective measures to control the spread of Poul Brood and other diseases in the state.
According to A. J. Wurth, the newly elected president of the California State Beekeeper's Assn "There are over 200,000 rotations of bees in California and the approximate value of the product is about one and a half million dollars annually. This valuation does not include the indirect value of beekeeping to the fruit grower and farmer.
In joining the Agricultural Legislature Committee, the California State Beekeeper's Assn expects to request closer cooperation from the Univ. of Calif. and the State Department of Agriculture, both in the matter of a study of bee dissection as well as the enforcement of the necessary bee laws to protect the industry.
The beeman expect to make an urgent request for the appointment of a State Bee Inspector who will work under the supervision of the State Department of Agriculture.
