BICHAN County Dairy Inspector Dairy products constitute the most fundamental food of mankind; also, they are most perishable. Consequently, a special code of laws, rules and regulations (federal, state and municipal), intended to safeguard the production and to ensure certain standards of quality and wholesomeness of milk and its products, have been formulated. Those regulations are carried out through inspectors of health departments, working in conjunction with the state board of health and department of agriculture. Samples of market milk and cream of dairies and creameries are taken twice a month by the dairy inspector of the Health Department of Orange-co for laboratory analysis at the laboratory of the orange-co health department. These analysis consist of bacterial counts, percentage of butterfat, solids and sediment. The laboratory analysis furnishes data on the quality of the milk supply and protects the consumer from being sold products below the standard required by the dairy laws; also, it reveals to the producer the condition of his milk supply, and, at times, indicates when special precautions are necessary to keep his milk supply wholesome. The inspector is often called by the dairy men to investigate the causes of high bacterial counts in their milk shipments, and to advise and help them to locate the trouble. The sanitary conditions of creameries in Orange-co are inspected twice a month and of dairies once a month. Thus the inspection service fulfills a dual role, insuring to the consumer quality and wholesomeness in dairy products and aiding the producer and distributor in emergence. POKER NOT CHANCE SAYS COURT JUDGE SHOP NECESSARY TO EVERY FARM The value of a farm shop provides early equipped with good tools, inestimable. It need not be an expensive building, but one which tools can be kept in good condition and affording enough space work in, giving protection in the winter time from the rains and cold, and a pleasure to work in the summer time. When convectively arranged it is not difficult to spend spare time in repairing or mending old or worn-out parts. It is a great time saver and money saver to be able to do the many little jobs in your own shop. It is likewise good training for the boys to learn how to make the many play things that they like and also to train them in making the necessary repairs on machinery. A set of woodworking tools together with metal working tools should be included in the equipment With a little encouragement the boys will take considerable pleasure and pride in overhauling the field equipment during their spare time. When taken in time many costly repair bills can sometimes be avoided. It is always well to have a small supply of ready mixed paint with brushes on hand, a tooling outfit stops many of the leaks and makes usable articles that would otherwise have to be replaced with new ones. Nearly every farm has a farm shop of a kind, but little attention is paid to returning tools to their proper places after using them so that many times it takes longer to mount up the tools than it takes to actually do the job. By having place for every tool and every tool in its place, odd jobs of repairing become a pleasure and a profit one rather than a task. FUTURE AIRPLANE TO BE OF METAL LONDON, Aug. 11.—The day of the areoplane constructed of metal and wood is past, and the era of the all-steel aeroplane is at hand, in the opinion of leading British aeronautical experts. According to the experts, the deathknell of the wood-fabric plane has been sounded by the discovery by aeronautical scientist of a light metal alloy giving the strength of armor plating. An aeroplane constructed of this new alloy would actually weigh lighter than a wood-fabric-constructed aeroplane, it is claimed. TO IRRIGAE IRAK By diverting the upper waters of the Euphrates River into a lake it is proposed to bring 1,000,000 acres of desert land in Iraq under cultivation. POKER NOT CHANCE SAYS COURT JUDGE CONSTANTINOPLE, Aug. 11.—You cannot gamble in Constantinople. It is against the law. But you can play poker. This may seem to be a distortion without a difference, but Constantinople court has decided that poker is not gambling. The court ruled that poker is not game of chance and, therefore, permitted under Turkish law. Any venturesome card player who has watched an adversary ruke in a fat pot because he himself failed to catch the right car when drawing to fill an inside straight, will be hard to convince that poker is not a game chance. Two possibilities, however, must be borne in mind: those who would question the soundness of the judge's ruling. One is that they may not play poker in Turkey as they do elsewhere. The other is that the judge himself may have needed an alibi. Try a Classified Ad for results. Try this medium. Recent cases of obscure dyspeptic trouble in girls have led to the belief that lipstick may be responsible. Doctors assert that the lip salves commonly used are harmless if prepared from pure ingredients, although constant use will give the user cracked lips and damage to the mucous membrane. Is the cheaper varieties that are doing the harm. Most cheap lip salves is based on hard paraffin and aniline dye, and the doctors state that the constant swallowing of these products must eventually result in injury to the stomach.
