NEW YORK, April 11.—No within the memory of mortal men ever selected a world's champion ball club to finish worse than first, the next time, and the wier can do no less.
The Yankees, even with their consecutive pennants and a world title behind them, should probably will, canter to the win in the American League race this season.
We might dope it on humility thus arriving at the conclusion that the Yankees will be overconfident leaving the field of for a sensational rush to the front by some outsider. But fact is often preferable over fiction, and the fact of the matter is that the New York Yankees are distinctly class.
They have the pitching, they have the hitting, they have everything. In brief, a foster-fat couldn't look better to an orphan.
It is possible that Everett Scoot our slightly spavined shortstop may not stand up thru the season but the chances are that he will if not the Yankees might find going home too smooth, even with their laudable pitching.
If any club is to beat them, is the Cleveland Indians, with their punch, speed and improved pitching. Speaker has revamped pass champions of 1920 with co-mendable dispatch, and now has a white man's chance for the prizeant. Uhle should have another

PREDICT BRITISH-U. S. CONFERENCE
LONDON, April 11.—An international conference with the United States participating, to discuss a final reparations settlement upon the basis of the Dawes report, was forecast here today.
The first flush of optimism that the problem would be solved through general acceptance of the Dawes report in its original form gave way to doubts after advice had been received from Berlin and Paris.
Altho Premier MacDonald has been studying the experts' report since Wednesday, the official attitude of the British government has not yet been disclosed.
In quarters close to the government, fears were expressed that France would raise objections to the Dawes program because it does not fix a definite total of German payments. This may mean that France will bring in the question of allied war debts which might return the issue to the old vicious circles of endless discussions.
SPRING SLIPS UP
CHICAGO, April 11.—Spring skidded on a snowflake today and slipped back into the lap of winter when snow fell for more than an hour, then turned into a fine drizzle. The temperature dropped four degrees to 34 under a stiff wind off the lake.

Anything may happen in case of the Athletics, a young creeper does not know its strength or weakness. The pitching should be good for the first time since 1914 and Mack undoubtedly added a punch to the outfit by addition of Simmons and Strain yet it is not a championship creeper and only a fluke will make it creeper.
Much of the Brown's success depends on the ability of Sieler to return to his 1922 speed and development of a few pitchers help Shucker. Otherwise the creeper is fool-proof. We cannot say same for the White Sox. They have short of pitching, hitting and field defence. The team has been weakened offensively and defensively by the introduction of your outfielders but the general type of the club has been increased. The punch is not there, however.
The Senators are an old club with a young manager, Stacy Harris. He is one of the young men in the outfit, Jude Rice, Pecklinpaugh and others ing beyond their prime. The needs pitching and a third bachelor. It will do well to finish off the cellar.
We have selected that uneable spot for the Boston Red Sox not because the club is so bad but rather because the league general, is so good. The Sox have been greatly improved, it is believed, but it is our idea that improvement will not be enough to carry it far against competition it will be asked to face.

OHIO G. O. P. IN CALL FOR HELP
WASHINGTON, April 11.—Simultaneously with the announcement by Senator Hiram Johnson that he would continue his fight to "rid the Republican party of corrupt and reactionary control," leaders of President Coolidge's pre-convention campaign here received word of difficulties in the Ohio primaries scheduled for April 29.
From Hoke Donithen, the Coolidge campaign manager in Ohio, came a hurry up call for speakers and the intimation that the president might lose the Ohio delegates because of the unfavorable reaction among friends of the late President Harding and former attorney general Harry M. Daugherty to the "keynote" speech of Senator George Wharton Pepper in Portland, Maine.
Daugherty left here for Washington Court House, Ohio, soon after Donithen's call. He is understood to be prepared to lend a hand to Donithen during the next two weeks.
The former attorney general is a candidate for delegate from Ohio.
Senators Willis and Fees of Ohio, who received the Donithen appeal decided today that more harm than good would be done by sending speakers into Ohio in an effort to offset the Pepper influence. They explained that such tactics would be admission that they were scared. They are not in accord with Donithen's penism.

ONE DYING, THREE INJURED IN FIGHT
LOS ANGELES, April 11.—One man is dying and three others are in the city jail charged with assault with a deadly weapon as the result of a fight that occurred when the three jailed men are said to have been discovered striping an auto early today.
The injured man William Hill, 22, with his brother Joseph, told the police that shortly after midnight they found three men trying to steel gasoline from their auto which was parked in Manzanita-st. A fight followed when the two brothers ordered the three men away from the car and in the fracas William Hill was struck over the head with a hammer.
New Treatment Never Fails to End Piles
Many sufferers from Piles or Hemorrhoids have become despondent because they have been led to believe that their case was hopeless and that there was nothing in the world to help them.
To these people we say, "Go to Gibson's Drug Store, mail orders accepted, and get an original box of MOAVA SUPPOSITORIES." One of these inserted into the rectum according to directions will be found to give immediate relief. They reach the source of such tactics would be admission that they were scared. They are not in accord with Donithen's penimism.
L. A. REALTY MAN IN FULLERTON JAIL
Thomas Turner, Los Angeles real estate man, was in the Fullerton jail today with the prospect of having plenty of time to think it over, following arrest yesterday day afternoon by Leo Martin, Fullerton motor cop, on the charges of driving 37 miles an hour across the intersection of Brea and Spadina-rds., and with transporting liquor and driving while intoxicated.
Turner is said to have protested his arrest saying that the officers had ruined his whole life to which he replied was given that they had rather do that than for him to kill someone. Witnesses told the officers that he had been coming at that rate for some time and taking up the whole road.
He got into touch with friends in Los Angeles today, and asked that they come and get him out of jail. His hearing may be held sometime today.

Fails to End Piles
Many sufferers from Piles or Hemorrhoids have become despondent because they have been led to believe that their case was hopeless and that there was nothing in the world to help them.
To these people we say, "Go to Gibson's Drug Store, mail orders accepted, and get an original box of MOAVA SUPPOSITORIES."
One of these inserted into the rectum according to directions will be found to give immediate relief. They reach the source of the trouble and by their soothing, healing, antiseptic action first ally the pain and soreness and then by direct contact with the ulcers and piles cause them to heal up and disappear forever.
It's simply wonderful how speedily they act. Blessed relief often comes in two days. Even in cases that have steadily resisted all known treatments, marvelous results have been obtained.
All druggists dispense MOAVA SUPPOSITORIES in the original box or can get it for you on short notice.
