ANAHEIM HELPS
GERMAN KIDDIES
Anaheim is helping to provide one good meal per day to 1,000,000 German children, according to a letter received yesterday by Harry D. Riley, chairman of the local relief committee, from C. N. Thomas, representative in Los Angeles.
Here is the letter:
"This morning, through Mr. Boyle Workman's office, we received your check for $5,655.06, the amount contributed by the people of Anaheim to our relief work. On behalf of this committee I wish to thank those who were identified with you in the canvases, as well as the contributors.
"I am herewith enclosing to you one of our News Digests. You will notice that we are feeding at the present time, 1,000,000 children in Germany, one meal a day. The situation is becoming worse daily, and Major General Henry T. Allen informs us that we should be feeding 2,000,000, but this as yet is impossible because of lack of funds. The Quakers are giving their time and energy to this work without remuneration, and there are 20,000 German volunteer relief workers assisting. We find that in this movement we are not only alding the wounds of the late war."

Under the above caption, the following article is published in the current issue of Southern California Business, magazine of the Los Angeles C. of C.
Wisely looking forward to the bringing in of suitable factories, the people of Anaheim have formed what is known as the Community Industrial Land Company, incorporated for $200,000. This was organized by the Anaheim chamber of commerce with the help of 60 men of the city visiting the business men and telling them what advantages would be derived by a pay roll coming from industries located in Anaheim. The syndicate has purchased 40 acres of land just outside of the city limits in the east of the Anaheim Sugar Company and have let the bids for leveling of this tract. It is near to the main highways and the Union Pacific and Santa Fe railroads, with the Southern Pacific not far distant. The C. C. of Anaheim at present is making an industrial wholesale and retail survey of that community.
The city of Anaheim has taken on new life within the past few months and things are beginning to look brighter for an industrial center.

is called to the fact that fresh meat is absolutely safe to be eaten, and that at no time in the history of the meat industry have the public been so thoroughly protected by rigid inspection as at the present time. Strict inspection of live stock before it is dressed for the market, clean and sanitary methods of preparing meat, and another strict inspection before meat reaches the consumer makes the present time the safest time to eat meat. BEAUTIFUL SPRING—OFF THE MAIN ROAD
A photo taken near Milwaukee showing damage done by a sleet storm.
Roads in the Ohio valley, select storms in Wisconsin vicinity, and tornadoes and hail in Oklahoma and the southwest ushered Spring into being with resultant loss of lives and property.
In Wisconsin wide farming areas were completely cut off from the outside world when sleet storms destroyed telegraph and telephone communications and made roads impassable.

FRIDAY The Winning of a Great Prize
Read Mt. 19:27-20:16. Text 19:29. And every one that hath left brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or land, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.
"Suppose that a man has begun the wonderful Christian way of living. He is reaching out with the energy of faith to work together with the will of God under the leadership of Jesus Christ, he is winning one of the great prizes of life, the growing conviction of immortality."
MEDITATION: Jesus was able to see beyond the experience called death and to know that death was but an incident. He continually urged his disciples to make the largest possible investment in fellowship and in service, for the glories of the life eternal would far more than compensate for any possible losses or sorrows of life in the flesh. He urged his disciples to contend manfully for this prize which the Father longs to give to those who are prepared to use the gift of eternal life.
PERSONAL QUESTION: What is the best paying investment I am making?
PRAYER: Our Father God, we pray that we may with ever more eagerness seek thee. Make us rejoice in thee, O God, that we may have vision of thy glory and enter into thy fellowship. Let obedience be our great desire and thy love our eternal consolation, through Christ. Amen.
