No ad accepted nor canceled after 11 a.m. on day of publication. Miscellaneous BIRCH CO. ENTERS DOMINGUEZ FIELD The feature of the Dominguez field for the week was the entrance of the Birch Oil Co. The Birch Oil Co. helped to make the Brea-field famous ten years ago and goes into the Dominguez field with a good record. The Birch Oil Co. purchased outright a year ago the Humphries property and is getting a rig on it for the first well. Joseph Royer superintendent of the Birch Oil Company for more than ten years is to have charge of the field development at Torrence. The wildcat wells of the Dominguez field are interesting from the standpoint of depth. The Chase Oil Co. drilling out on the northwest section of the field has gotten close to 4600 and found nothing exciting. The Davis-Macmillan Oil Co. has passed 4700 feet and has nothing to show that looks like the pay. The General Petroleum's Austin 1 the extreme southwest well of field has passed the 5100 foot mark and continues drilling in grey sand. The Julian Petroleum Corporation's Pico well at 4800 got a slight showing of oil in the sandy shale and Julian has hopes of picking up the pay within the next 100 feet. Long Beach production took another slump this last week and dropped to 210,000 barrels. Aside from the bringing in of a half dozen or more 350 and 400 barrel wells the field experienced nothing exciting. The field's big well was brought in by the Shell company on the Wells lease. Wells 2 completed at 5100 feet made 700 barrels of 24.6 gravity oil. Joseph Dabney's No. 23 failed to make an oil well after being drilled 5391 feet and is being abandoned.
