MAKE TWO ADDITIONS TO PLANNING COMMITTEE
(Continued From Page One)
June, 730 sub-divisions have been examined and their development guided.
Following the outlining of a highway system in which in general 80-foot major highways were laid down along full sections lines, 60-foot along feeder roads on half sections and 40-foot by-roads along quarter sections, each sub-division was advised to conform to this plan.
A checker board scheme was the one followed, allowing also for special industrial districts and highways meant for special uses.
General utility highways were planned to parallel industrial highways. A circuit system of highline highways, of which the Mulholland highway, still a somewhat isolated example, was one, also was included.
Much of the congestion in the city of Los Angeles is due to the arrangement of outside highways, Pommerly showed.
The speaker congratulated the county on having Nelson T. Edwards as a member of the state highway commission and lauded Edward personally.
Coming to the main highway planned to link up Orange-co with Los Angeles, Manchester-ave, Pomeroy declared that one sub-division alone had ferried a quarter to half a mile along the avenue. Assessment districts now were being formed to widen the avenue from 60 to 80 feet. Lincoln-bldg, part of the route, also will be widened thru Downey, etc. With its connections, the new straight highway will proceed all the way to Venice and the San Fernando valley.
Rail transportation problems as affecting highways and subdivisions are attacked then a grade crossing committee. In Whittier the separation of the grades of the highway and the Falcon Pacific planned.
Uniform operation of railways in the Los Angeles harbor district is another problem.
County zoning, with residential and industrial districts, is another problem.

He attacked the sub-division of Belvidere Gardene, where he declared infant mortality had doubled in two years and where the roads were straightened out after the section became settled.
Lack of water will be the only limit on population in the future, in his opinion.
He made it clear that the systems of streets and roads laid out now would determine the future development for all time. For example, the system of streets laid out by the Spanish dona around the Los Angeles Plaza fixed the system now existing. Boston and its cewpaths got the usual jibe.
President Thomas voiced his regret that none of the supervisors had accepted the invitation to attend the meeting.
Howard E. Gates told of hearing Pommerly at the meeting of the League of California Municipalities at Coronado Beach. As an illustration of the effects of roads that weren't straight, he said he best five miles in driving from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and the same distance from Anahiem to Costa Mesa and

Clements chairman of the agricultural committee of the Los Angeles C. of C. and Wahlberg will be an advisory member of the Los Angeles co-committee.
Appointment of the committee ruggested the matter of making the Southern Branch, U. of C., a separate institution, which was decided partly because the Davia branch of the College of Agriculture was too far off. The meeting broke up without anyone being selected.
There were reports that Venizelos might hand in the resignations of himself and his cabinet this afternoon or tomorrow.
