MAKES BIG HIT AT UNITED Last night at the United Theater the Siegel Company made its first bow to an Anaheim audience and at the same time scored a genuine hit. No better stock company has ever played this city. "It Pays to Advertise" was the splendid bill and from a farce comedy standpoint no happier choice could have been made to introduce this most capable organization. It is one of the speedy fares that keep bubbling from the first line. It would have been hard to tally the number of laughs, as they came not only fast, but in big bunches. "It Pays to Advertise" is a bill that must be seen, as a description is impossible except to say that it is one joyous laugh. And the company is in every way competent to handle all the cleverly constructed situations, and kept the house very much awake for the full two and a half hours that the lively comedy runs. Mr. Siegel has a splendidly well-balanced company, every member is full of 'pep' and incidentally knows his business. It is a most happy party. Aside from Mr. Siegel who as a light comedian is delightfully clever, there is Miss Edua Cecil Daly, the company's talented leading woman, who won instant approval. If space permitted we could say nothing but the nicest things of every member, and they are deserving of special mention. "It Pays to Advertise" will be repeated tonight, and it is almost certain to be greeted by a packed house as it is not every day that we have so excellent an opportunity to forget all our troubles. So if a laugh means anything to you don't fail to see "It Pays to Advertise." MURRAY REAL 227 East Center Phone 926 RUSSIAN INDUSTRY YEARS FROM NORMAL MOSCOW, July 23.—It will be several years before the Turkestan cotton fields are restored to international competition, according to Congressman Cillins of Mississippi, who has been visiting in Russia. "Reconstruction work in Russia is going forward," Collins said, "but it will be several years before it will restore some of the industries to competition." "What amazes me everywhere I go in Europe is the great demand for the American dollar. Everyone has some tucked away." ANT EATER USES TAIL FOR PARASOL CHICAGO, July 23.—An ant eater that uses his tail for a parasol when it is not sweeping ants into a pile for eating was brought back by Edmund Heller, a naturalist, from the jungles of South America. Among other specimens obtained by Heller was a rujupi, similar to the rat, and the only animal of its kind ever brought here alive; a bird that is much valued for its oil for cooking and medicinal purposes; some specimens of the howler monkey, vampire bats and birds. NUDE GIRL IN STREET ARRESTED ELYRIA, Ohio., July 23.—Attired in Dame Nature's garb, Sarah Armond, 23, was arrested. She explained to the police that the man, Johnnie Wise, with whom she had been living, drove her from their home during a fight. When police-men went to the home they found Johnnie had dimpeared with all of Sarah's clothing. As a consequence the local "September Morn" used a bed sheet as a dress when arraigned in police court. Pending arrangements to have Sarah cease her residence in the colored district she was returned to prison, enveloped in nothing but the bed sheet. Some jewelers say certain perfumes tend to make a turquoise change color. MONEY TO LOAN If you want money to build your home or pay off an encumbrance FRUIT SALES (Calif. Longs began dumping their holdings early, raiding the market on early sales. Prices firmed on heavy buying, but again sold off. Some loss to wheat in the northwest from black rust was reported. Wheat closed ¼% to ½ lower. Corn was ⅛ off to 1⅝ up. Oats closed ⅔% to ½ lower. Trade in provisions continued dull and featureless. BANK CLEARINGS San Francisco, $23,200,000. Seattle, $6,862,945.
