HERE'S BATTERY BUILT FOR RADIO A radio battery built for the specific needs of radio service. That's the Exide, says B. F. Herr, exclusive local distributors of the Exide batteries of all sorts. "Within the memory of the most of us, the call for help which Jack Binns sent from the sinking steamer Republic, was probably the first striking example the world received of the practicability of radio message, any the manufacturers. "And yet today—only 13 years later—in hundreds of thousands of private homes, wireless telephones are providing entertainment quite as mystifying as the most marvelous trick of any magician. "Amateur radio "fans" everywhere are building receiving stations of more or less elaborate design, while practically all of the large electrical instrument manufacturers have placed on the market compact wireless telephone receiving sets that can be operated; without trouble of any kind, by the most inexperienced novice. "But to insure maximum enjoyment from any radio outfit, an absolutely dependable storage battery is essential—a battery designed to provide steady current—a battery whose voltage will not drop after a few minutes' use to a point where frequent adjustments of the apparatus will be necessary." Dezell, of the California Fruit Growers Exchange, this season's shipments of California and Florida citrus fruits will total more than 100,000 cars based upon actual shipments to April 28th. Orange and grapefruit shipments for the two states to date were 65,000 cars, according to Mr. Dezell, as compared with 60,000 cars for the same period in 1921 this estimate taking into consideration the lighter loading of California fruit. Adding shipments of California lemons to the orange and grapefruit shipments of the two states for the same period, makes an estimated total of over 100,000 carloads for the year. This total, states Mr. Dezell, shows a larger citrus crop for the country than that of 1921, the prevailing weather filed today to the charge of the late Vada brought by the die McGregor Young Taylor he served a ten-time in Oregon. Mr. Poar although a resident of California for thirty-three years, had never picked an orange off a tree, but he acknowledged to the local V. G. (village-gossip), that he had never before seen such an all-around fine orange as the one that finally tempted him to try the—to him—"novel" experiment. Mr. A. W. Gallagher, registrar of the far-famed Sherwood Music School of Chicago, was here the first part of the week in the interests of the school. Mr. W. W.
