6658 Vehicles Record of One Day for Ford More than half a million Ford cars and trucks sold in 120 days; and last Monday alone 6658 vehicles produced. That is the astonishing record established by the Ford Motory company eclipsing all previous sales figures and emphasizing more strongly than ever the right of the Ford to the title "Universal Car." From January 1 to May 1 sales of Ford cars and trucks in the United States reached the enormous total of 561,544, nearly twice the number sold at retail during the same period a year ago when the total was 283,782. Even with its huge production facilities, now operating on a schedule in excess of 6,500 cars and trucks a day, the company is unable to keep up with the unprecedented demand. EXECUTE DYAMITER DUSSELDORF, May '28.—Albert Schlageler, leader of a band of seven German railway dynamiters in the Ruhr, today was executed by the French military authorities. He was sentenced to death by a French military committee on May 9 after being found guilty of sabotage. New Tire Taken on By Anaheim Concern Roy Mendoza of the Reliable Tire Co. has for the approval of the autoists in this community a new tire. The Manhattan cord. According to Mendoza, the Manhattan cord is an exceptionally long wearing, serviceable tire, constructed of the best materials and representing the culmination of the ideals of a large Eastern tire factory to produce a quality tire for the masses. This tire is to be merchandised along with the now very popular Para Bell tires that have been with us for the past 16 months and carries a guarantee of 10,000 miles. Among the interesting features of the Manhattan cord is the high flat tread that contains much more rubber than the ordinary tire and instead of having easily broken or torn projections as a skid preventative, the trend is made solid with depressions built in to give a suction cup action, which thereby makes a very effective non-skid. This type of tread also gives an uncommonly large surface of rubber in contact with the road, which makes possible the conservative (for this tire) guarantee of 10,000 miles. If there is a word to express the quality which Dodge Brothers have striven, above all else, to build into the Touring Car, it is again dependable. Indeed, it is not too much to say that the word dependable has come to be definitely associated, the nation over, with Dodge Brothers Touring Car—and the other vehicles bearing their name. Nor have Dodge Brothers built this enviable reputation through advertising. They have built motor cars, so dependable in fact that the word has presented itself automatically to the public mind.
