Accessories Exhibit Far Ahead of 1922's The exhibits of the accessories, tire, electrical and other distributors in the industrial tent, while not grouped into a single sizeable show, are individually excellent. This is only another way of saying that this class of industrial exhibits measures up with the rest of their fellows, for the industrial show as a whole represents a distinct advance over that of last year, in number and quality of displays. The Anaheim Windshield Co. has one or several elegant booths devoted to accessories, etc. Mirrors, visors, wind wings and tonneau wings, aluminum plate steps and other articles against a background of vermillion, make a mighty creditable showing. The Brunawick tire, attractive in itself, is shown to fine advantage by Daniels & Williams and Lawrence A. Muckenbaler, Northern Orange County and Southern County distributors. A 42x9 tire is displayed at the top of four smaller tires arranged lower down, including one of the new suburban cords. The lower background is of oranges. Comfortable reed chair invite visitors. A tube is given away each evening. On the last evening of the show a tire will be given away of a size to suit whatever vehicle is in question. C. J. Nenno, leading accessories dealers, display a board of piston rings, Leak-Proof make; a board of Farran-old belts and belting; springs, Perfection Jiming gears, an engine block, etc. Nenno's show windows, showcase, etc., are a perpetual exhibit of high quality, and he has merely had to transport some of his new things to the big industrial tent. A polite and efficient clerk is in charge to answer questions. The Anselm Ignition Depot, which has no peer in Orange County as headquarters for radio sets of many kinds—and headquarters for radiographic experts or whatever you call 'em—has the best display we have happened to see of such sets. "Ole Swimmin' Hole" Of West the Pacific This is the time of the year when the young folks turn their thoughts beachward. Almost any Saturday and Sunday now, according to officials of the Auto Club of Southern California, the highways leading from the cities of this part of the state to the beaches are lined with children seeking free rides in motor cars. The old swimmin' hole of the west is the Pacific, and its lure for the young people is tremendous as the month of May passes into June. If motorists wish to promote the well being of a community, they must steel their hearts against the importance of the boys and girls who, bathing suit in hand, hall them from the road for a free ride, say local authorities. Serious consequences attend the granting of these requests, reports the Auto Club safety bureau, as well. Not only does it encourage children to run away from home, but it also paves the way for potential auto stealing. Carload Chalmers Cars Reaches Here A carload of Chalmers cars, including a sedan, coupe and two tourings, reached Turton and Lumsdon, Maxwell and Chalmers distributors on Thursday. The sedan and a cut down Maxwell chassis, the same as the one exhibited at the New York and Chicago shows, will be on display at the Auto Show. The sedan is in a town-car blue, with a belt of lighter blue in the door panel, mohair upholstery-crearrian walnut window strips, two rear reading lights beside a dome light, large trunk, nickeled bumpers front and rear, etc. The car will seat seven comfortably. It used to be, not very long ago, that a vacation trip of 200 miles was quite a journey. But not any more! Nowadays the hardy autolist of these parts thinks nothing of skipping off to Canada or down into Mexico for his summer outing. In order to gratify the inclinations of some of the long-distance travelers, the Club touring bureau has secured a lot of up-to-the-minute information on the National Parks with which the western part of America is particularly favored. If you only want to go a little ways from your own fireside, the country offers the Sequoia and General Grant Park, and of course, there is Yosemite. The National Park of the Grand Canyon is going to have a lot of auto visitors this summer. Also in the club's list are included Crater Lake National Park, Mt. Rainier National Park, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Zion National Park, Mea Verde National Park, Lassen Volcano National Park, and the Rocky Mountain National Park over by Denver. Roads loading from Southern California to the big national playgrounds this summer are in much better condition than they were last year and for that reason a larger number of motorists will take advantage of the season to increase their knowledge of America's wonders. In addition to the great outflux of national playground visitors, there are hordes of motorists planning to invade the nearby forest preserves of Southern California, and some special road information is now available on these at all of the Auto Club offices. TIRE PRICE BOOST OFF TILL AUGUST 1 The price boost which certain tire manufacturers tried to put over on or before June 1 is off. This was the word among local distributors today. Manufacturers who already had announced a forthcoming advance did not indicate any date, and Aug. 1 now is the date which report sets. It will be remembered that while one of the Big Five was reported to have been in favor of the increase, the other had not yet fallen into line. The dealers are too well-supplied still with tires—this is the reason given for the postponement. Consumers stocked up heavily during or just before the previous advances and sales now are only moderate. Thus, in spite of the mounting prices of crude rubber, the manufacturers are obliged to wait. 16,000 MILES ON TIRES AT 35 POUNDS No fans! Here's a record in tire endurance generally and stamina under partial deflation, that what will make you do some sitting up. Charles Switzer of Los Angeles has on his Studebaker a quartet of Norwalk cords, 32x4. On a test he already has driven them 16,000 miles, keeping his air at 35 pounds, and the tires look like 30,000 miles. The test is being made not only for endurance generally, says F. S. Dunlop of the Nu-Way Tire Co., but particularly to show that the friction proof and non-separative qualities of the Norwalk have no superior in any time. The Norwalk Tire & Rubber Co. is the oldest manufacturer of rubber products in America and has 21 basic patents on its goods. Others To Follow New Jordan Policy Manufacturers of motor cars, following the lead of successful manufacturers of typewriters, have heard applause with the announcement of the Jordan Motor Car Company of a new national sales policy which provides for the application to the secondary market for motor cars the same fundamental principles of merchandising which have always been applied to the primary market, covering the sales and advertising of new cars. Letters have been received by the Jordan Motor Car Company indicating that those few companies which will find it possible to adopt the same policy will before long emulate the example of Jordan and put this policy in effect. Jordan has inaugurated a policy which provides for the proper rebuilding of every Jordan which has seen service in the hands of the owner, and its sale to the second owner with the same assurance of service which goes with a new Jordan. A metal plate or marker is affixed to show the car is in shape. The late Lewis C. Preston left an estate of $23,000, according to the inventory and appraisement filed today. Forty separate concerns are exhibiting and all but six of them are showing passenger cars, Secretary Herb Davis of the association said yesterday, voicing his gratification at the success of the enterprise. Cars never seen here before are shown, including the stately seven-passenger LaFayette sedan which is one of the features of Bob White’s group. And there are more fine cars generally than ever seen before or elsewhere in the county. Much of the improvement is due, according to Secretary Davis, to the larger space available, as compared with the previous two shows. The Anaheim Auto Company, in combination with its fellow distributor in Santa Ana, the Reid Motor Co., is displaying the largest number of cars of any exhibitor in the big tent. There are 10 cars on hand. Visitors to the exhibit of the Taggart Motor Co. will see probably for the first time one of the midnight blue-sport touring cars, which looks like one of the $1200 sports. It’s a regular stock car. Of no less interest are a stock sedan, sedanette and coupe. The A. B. Miner Co., of Placentia, joins with the Taggart Co.,—the exhibit. Townsend & Medbery of Anaheim and Santa Ana and H. R. Grove of Fullerton are displaying a Hudson coach, five-passenger touring and Hudson sedan. Even so, visitors to the show will view some models they have probably never viewed before. The Bob White Co. and Harry D. Riley, with the Bowles Motor Co. of Santa Ana, are showing seven models each. The former displays the first models yet seen here of the new Franklin carriage and the four-door coupe. The later show besides big six, light six and special six models a cut down Studebaker motor in operation and a set of parts of an engine that already had driven its car 12,000 miles. The car was a light six touring belonging to Ollie Smith of Olinda and the parts look like new. Two Golden State sedans, one with single siding doors and one with double, are features of the Studebaker group. For the first time in our recollection, all of the Ford dealers in the county have combined in an exhibit, led by George Dunton of Anaheim and Fullerton, The Wickersheim Implement Co. of Fullerton, W. D. Young of Huntington Beach, the Mansur Motor Co. of Orange, P. W. Guyton of Garden Grove, the Harmon Motor Co., of Placentia, Theo. Robins of Balboa, Dalwin Bros. of Bren and James C. S. Dunlap of the Nu-Way Tire Co.. This means that, the clincher bead will go too, and it is said that pressure is being exerted upon Henry Ford to make straight side rims standard equipment upon his cars next year. The Norwalk Tire and Rubber Co., is trying out a new type of cord tire to replace its fabric tires. The difference in price will be small, says Dunlap, who is exclusive distributor here of the Norwalk and Converse tires. The cord is more resilient, and it is so constructed that each cord exerts its full strength. Announcement We have been appointed the Exide Service Station for this locality.
