BRIDE ELECT IS HONORED WITH PRETTY PARTY A PRETTY complimentary affair was tendered Miss Myrtle Sequine yesterday afternoon by Mrs. Ben Baxter as a pre-nuptial courtesy. Miss Sequine will become the early June bride of Joe Baum. The Baxter home was profusely decorated in pink and green and festoons of roses hung from the chandeliers and cornets of the room. Five hundred was played during the afternoon and a merry time was enjoyed between rounds. Mrs. Baxter made high score, and Mrs. Wm. Lake, second. Tiny envelopes were handed the guests and a four line verse, written on a card, contained many clever verses relating to a life journey. A small trunk, pretty decorated with pink tulle, was brought in and set before Miss Sequine in which she found a quantity of packages found to contain many useful and pretty articles that will grace the new home. A elaborate lanceon was served late in the afternoon. Mrs. Baxter was assisted in the entertaining by Mrs. Anna Carruthers and Mrs. W. G. Mason. Guests included Mrs. Tom Dietrich and Mrs. Bob Quarton, sisters of Mr. Baum, Mrs. Elmer Sequine and Mrs. Wolf of Olinda, sisters of the Miss Sequine and a host of friends. Miss Sequine is one of Anaheim's popular business women and until several months ago was connected with the Holland Electric Co., where she made a host of friends. Mr. Baum has resided in Anaheim a long time and is well known. He is a painter and is in partnership with his brother Bob Quarton. New Officers to Preside Lois Thimble club will hold a regular meeting tomorrow afternoon as Liberty Sunbeams Visit Porty members of Liberty Court, Order of the Amaranth, went to Compton to enjoy the meeting of the sewing club, Liberty Sunbeam, with Mrs. John Small. A potluck luncheon was followed by a short business session, and the remainder of the afternoon was passed in doing fancy work for the bazaar, which is planned for the early fall. Plans were completed for a card party to be given next week. The children also had a happy day and took park in the musical program. P. E. O.'S. HOLD OPEN HOUSE; MOTHERS ARE HONORED YESTERDAY was guest day for Chapter BP, P. E. Q., and a congenial company gathered at the home of Mrs. J. L. Vaa der Veer, on North Clementine st. In compartment to the mothers of the members, the greater number of guests were mothers, although several of the ladies whose mothers are far away, took other friends. Several of the ladies favored the company with musical numbers. Mrs. Scott Walter played a piano selection, Mrs. H. M. Peterson entertained with two readings, Miss Josephine Smith sang a solo and Mrs. K. B. Young played piano numbers. Mrs. W. W. Manter graciously welcomed the guests in a short talk. Mrs. George Rice, who, with her husband is leaving soon for an indefinite stay in Boston, where Mr. Rice will take another degree in Harvard, was presented with a pretty gift from the society in farewell. She responded with deepest appreciation. The Van der Veer home was pretty ret with yellow and white, P. E. O., colors, the gay corsepsis being used in generous quantities. Fancy work, as usual, will be the preferred occupation of the afternoon. King's Heralds Friday The King's Heralds of the White Temple will hold the regular meeting Friday afternoon at 3:30 in the church. The new officer, of which Miss Alice Twinem is president, will be in charge for the first time. Each one is asked to bring the dues if he or she has not done so, and are also asked to bring their thank offering cards if they are filled out. A good attendance is desired for the last lesson on Indian. The members are rather looking for a nice surprise but they are not real sure about it. All are asked to attend the meeting. Center St. Anaheim Phone 1037 FINAL MEETING OF YORBA LINDA WOMAN'S CLUB THE Yorba Linda Woman's club held their last meeting Tuesday evening the affair being gentlemen's night, and ending the year's program. A 6:30 dinner was much enjoyed, there being more than 100 persons at the table. Following the dinner the secretary, Mrs. C. R. Selover gave a resume of the year's work. The chairmen of the committees gave their reports and the treasurer, Mrs. Calghey, also reported as to the club's financial standing. A short program of music in charge of Mr. Seamans, was much enjoyed. Musical numbers included violin and piano solos by Doris and Virginia Shaw, and vocal solos by Miss Erma Thomas. Little Miss Ellen Edwardson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Edwardson, of Palencita, very appropriately dressed in a miniature gentleman's dress suit, gave a little dance called "Society Shuffle," accompanied at the plano by her aunt, Mrs. Harry Follinge. Mrs. E. E. Knight, retiring president, turned over the gavel to her successor, Mrs. S. W. Acker, who on behalf of the club members spoke a few words of praise to Mrs. Kinght for her efficient leadership during the past two years and presented her with a corage bouquet. Dr. Keller, who, with Mrs. Christofferson came down from Hollywood for the Affair, was also presented with a bouquet and responded with a few words of appreciation. The new officers of the club are busily working on next year's program, which is almost ready to go to press. Club Luncheon on June 4 The June meeting of the Anaheim Ebell will be held June 4th. The meeting will open with a 1 o'clock luncheon in Elks club. The ladies are asked to make reservations not later than May 31, either at the Ebell booths in the Orange show or with Mrs. C. C. Smith, phone 599-J. Dine Show Guests Mrs. C. T. Maddux entertained with a dinner party yesterday at noon for Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Sheek and Mrs. Italph Wolf of Whittier. In the afternoon all went to the Orange show where the exhibits were reviewed with interest. The guests also remained for an evening visit. Missourians to Picnic The annual Missouri summer picnic will be held Saturday, May 26, in Bixby park, in fourth annual reunion. Every feature of other state picnics will be carried out, it has been promised. A picture of the gathering will be taken. Eager luncheon will be served at noon. Captain Visitors Sisters Will Krause Captain of the Coast Guards on the border of Texas and Louisiana is in Anaheim and the guest of his sisters, Mrs. Emima Ellis and Mrs. H. R. Gorland. Last evening the trio were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Tobin. Former Residents Call Mr. and Mrs. John Kester, of Santa Ana, formerly of Cyprus, were visiting friends in that vicinity this week. Mr. Kester is recovering from an attack of summer flu which followed closely upon the severe illness from flu and pneumonia which he experienced not many weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs.E.Kohtz of Glendale spent Sunday with their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs.Lawrence Tilton. Mrs.O.J.Ellis of Long Beach was the week-end guest of Mrs.D.W.Hasson. The fire department were called out on Tuesday afternoon to the Cratzer ranch when a brush fire spread beyond control. The fence and a wood pile were destroyed before the arrival of the department. Mr. and Mrs.Merle Asper of Ray Arizona came to the home of Mr. and Mrs.Earl Dow on Monday.The young couple are on their honeymoon and plan to locate at Anaheim.Mrs.Asper is the sister of Mrs.Dow and Miss Jackson.On Sunday Mr. and Mrs.Dow and family,Miss Zoe Jackson motored to Camp Baldy. Mr. and Mrs.J.D.Brown and children spent Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs.Clyde Brown at West-minister. Mr. and Mrs.Pred Bastady and children spent Sunday at Pasadena with Mrs.Bastady's mother. Mrs.Kellenberger, grand district deputy visited the Eastern Star for City Briefs with a corage bonquet. Webb reported to local police yesterday that some one had stolen a motormeter. Edward Jones of Fullerton is a patient at the local sanitarium today. Mr. and Mrs. George Dunton and little daughter, Betty, have returned from a short visit in San Diego and to Pine Hills, in Cuyamaca mountain. Mrs. C. W. Burrows and son Geo. of West Center-st., are in Los Angeles today. N. Ballou has been confined to his home this week with illness. Mrs. Mary Cogswell of Seattle, an old friend of the parents of Mr. C. C. Smith, was guest of the Smith home recently. She leaves Saturday evening on her return to the north, following a visit with her sister in Sierra Madre. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lorbeer, returned missionaries from India, will be week-and guests of the H. H. Knox family. Mrs. Lorbeer is a cousin of Mrs. H. M. Mayberry, mother of Mrs. Knox. Rev. and Mrs. Lorbeer have been home on furlough almost a year and are planning to return in August. Rev. Lorbeer will occupy the pulpit in the Baptist church Sunday morning. A son, Harley Dixon, was born yesterday at the Retreat, to Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Shields, of Anaheim, Mother and son are doing nicely. Mrs. R. J.
