CO. TOTAL
Anahelm sold 85 new cars in March and has sold so far this year 213 cars, according to compilations of the Automobile Publishing Co., which reached dealers here today.
The relative proportions of sales among the different cars are not much changed, only the extraordinarily total of the Star is not shown, for the reason that Jim Appleby of the Appleby Motors Co. did not get his figures in early enough.
Anahhelm, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Orange and Santa Ana and miscellaneous towns sold 587 cars during the month or 1468 so far this year.
Riverside county's showing for March and so far this year was 268 and 553; San Bernardino's 382 and 899; Los Angeles, 9461; San Diego's 467 and 1268; Imperial's 231 and 521; Inyo's 30 and 64; Kern's 605 and 1183; San Luis Obispo's 145 and 265; Santa Barbara's 322 and 708; Ventura's 209 and 489.
SEVEN TRAINLOADS
Law Breakers Among Motorists Increase
A definite tabulation of the things vigilante committees in which local motorists fail today to comply with the law, has been only one head light or no lights at all.
SEVEN TRAINLOADS OF BUICKS TO L. A.
Seven trainloads of 1923 Buick started to arrive in Los Angeles on Tuesday, and vanished from the yard almost as rapidly as they were gotten out of the cars. Buick distributors have not been able to fill the demands, and these new cars are merely bringing the situation back to normal.
The cars are going so fast, in fact, that they can hardly be put upon the showroom floors of distributors and dealers.
All of the 1923 models are represented in these shipments, says Art Steward, shop foreman for the Anheim Auto Company. Bill Goodrum and his associates received five enclosed cars out of the first trainload, including sedans and coupes, and some sports.
Purchasers of these 1923 cars all have been enthusiastic over them. The superiority of the clutch, steering and brake controls makes the 1923 Buick an especially good car for women.
A definite tabulation of the things in which local motorists fail today to comply with the law, has been made by the safety bureau of the Auto Club of Southern California, in checking up vigilante activities throughout the southern part of the state.
Out of more than 19,000 auto drivers in the southern counties of California who have been reported in the Auto Club as being careless, it is found in the report just issued that 2,690 failed to give proper signals before turning or stopping. This proves, according to local authorities that there is a great need for closer attention to the arm signals and to the making them properly.
In the check on universal carelessness, has been found that out of 19,000 culprits, 3,179 have been driving around the state with their license plates obscured by dust and mud, or damaged to such an extent that they cannot be deciphered. It is stated that the ratio of various forms of law breaking as shown by California auto owners, also holds true for the motorists of every state in America.
The next largest number of offenders were reported by the citizen vigilante committee only one head light or no lights at all are really nothing new committees of citizens communities who anonymously for the police in stopper reckless drivers. CAMEL AT SPLIT ROCK ABOVE KERN VALLEY
Camel Makes Trip Through Kern Valley
(By Rupert L. Larson)
Leaving Los Angeles one Saturday morning the Franklin Camel II hummed along over the pavement to San Fernando and Sangus, thence through Mint Canyon to Lancaster and Mojave. Leaving the concrete at Mojave the Camel weat through some of its usual thrilling performances on rough desert road and at Freeman, swinging northwest, eased over Walker's pass at an elevation of 6..248 feet, dropping into the south fork valley of the Kern river.
The return to Los Angeles was made by way of Isabella, Bodfish and Havilah to Callente, Tehachapi and Mojave. Havilah, named after a place in Genesis, where the first allusion is made to a land of gold, came to be a thriving little town when Hamp Williams discovered gold in that locality in 1861. In 1866 when Kern county was organized, Havilah became the county seat, but not for long. Clear creek, near by, which rambles down to the Kern, was considered, in the 60's, perhaps the most promising gold stream in California, but it appears to have been worked out.
Two of the members of the party experienced their first ride in a Franklin on the trip and were astounded at the riding comfort of the car over rough roads at speed. The

Many Scenic Spots Not on Main Roads
Why follow the main highways through endless congestion when you go on a pleasure trip? asks the touring bureau of the Auto Club of So. Cal.
In other words, the Club is suggesting today that the motorist of this part of the state learn to find and visit the beautiful by-ways that lead into spots which are almost deserted, while the same old main road is thronged with thousands of autos each week end.
The Auto club touring bureau, with branches practically in every Southern California community, announces today that it is prepared to suggest a series of short trips leading off the main traveled roads for motorists who may inquire at any of the Club offices.

12,000 Miles and Air Unchanged in Tires
Testimonials galore are published in the April number of the Brunswick Booster regarding Brunswick tires. The issue reached Daniels & Williams this week.
Here is one from an official of a prominent factory at Harrisburg, Pa.
"At the request of Mr. J. E. Wright to whom I recently related the service I am receiving with a pair of your 34 by 4 1/2 'Friction-Proofed' Cord Tires, I am giving you herewith my experience.
These tires are now and have been ever since I purchased them on the rear wheels of a Peerless four-passenger roadster, and have gone between 11,000 and 12,000 miles with the original air in them. This means that these tires have gone this mileage without even a puncture and the tread does not show any material wear. I fully believe these tires will give me at least 6000 additional mileage.
"I think this performance most remarkable; and should you so desire you may refer any prospective purchasers to me and I will take great pride in showing them this pair of tires."
BIG DEMANDS CUT CHEVROLET SUPPLY

ENTRIES IN S.A. PARADE MOUNTING
Arrangements for Santa Ana's big Resurrection Day parade and races on Saturday, May 5, will be clinched next Tuesday evening at a big open meeting in the city hall, when the committees appointed to have charge will be on hand. R. L. Hisby, chairman of the entertainment committee of the Santa Ana C. of C. will preside.
Sheriff Sam Jernigan is preparing for a crowd of 50,000 people. Already there are 13 entries in the 25-mile race and seven in the petitcoat race in the afternoon. The races open at two p.m. and the parade begins at 11 a.m.
The C. of C. has seen the practical value of co-operating with the Merchants & Manufacturers Ass'n., the three business men's clubs, and the American Legion and its auxiliary, and these bodies will all be represented at the gathering.
The principals of all the schools in the county and also the musical directors in the schools are invited to be present at the meeting. The last
BIG DEMANDS CUT
CHEVROLET SUPPLY
The shortages in Chevrolet cars are due to the fact that more and more large concerns are using fleets of them. The City of Los Angeles, for example, not long ago purchased several dozen of the cars.
Chevrolet is economical—that is the main reason why it is in such demand. Large users of cars have to watch every item of upkeep, says Bill Hauser of the Frank P. Taggart Co., Northern Orange County distributors. Gasoline, oil, tires and engine cost less in operating a Chevrolet than any other car, it is said.
The Chevrolet utility coupe is the lowest priced closed car on the market with a Fisher body declares Hauser. Never before has a specially designed commercial car of such a high quality and excellent appearance been offered at so low a price.
These concerns now know that even if Chevroleta were much higher priced it would still pay to buy them because of the actual money value of the better impression this quality car creates in the minds of customers, because of the better attitude it gives the salesman, and because the lower cost of operating.
