GOOD GEARS MEAN SAVING OF POWER
If you want to increase your power transmission efficiency and decrease your power transmission maintenance, try Perfection gears, says C. J. Nenno of the Nenno accessories store.
Auto timing gears must be accurate, and they must be made of the most durable material it is possible to get. The resiliency of the Perfection gear, says Nenno, helps to relieve the shock of sudden loads. Being non-metallic, these gears continue to operate silently and efficiently long after other gears have worn away.
Under the abuse of service Perfection gears will still stand up, and there will be no more noise and no more lost power through the wear of the gear train.
These gears are interchangeable with all other types of gear, and the factory's wonderful engineering service is available to patrons on any vaxing gear problem they may encounter.
Six Tires Per Day Reliable Co. Sales
After 14 months of sales and service in Anaheim and vicinity, the Reliable Tire Company declares that it has yet to see a Para-Bell tire that has been worn out. And this in spite of the fact that oil workers and others, who give the tire the hardest kind of usage, are among the largest purchasers. These men often travel 500 to 3,000 miles per month, says Roy Mendoza. This week, Mendoza sold two of the tires that had gone about 1,000 miles at a price over half that of the present listed rates, he says.
People now don't have to be told what the tire is, Mendoza says he On Thursday Mendoza says he
Chalmers, Maxwell Cars Getting Scarcer
Dominic-Etchandy of Yorba Linda is appearing in a new Chalmers touring car purchased of Turton & Lunsdon; local distributors of the Chalmers and Maxwell. Henry M. Cuff of Anaheim this week purchased a Maxwell sport. Cuff simply couldn't tear himself away from this newest and nifftiest of the Maxwell creations.
The firm reports that it is short of Chalmers cars and also of Maxwell coupes. Orders should be given early if prompt deliveries are wanted.
The Maxwell sports so far sold have held up just like all the other good Maxwells, and have proved that they are as durable as good-looking, the firm says.
ANOTHER BIG FIRM BUYS DODGE COUPE
Week after week witnesses more large concerns purchasing Dodge coupes for their traveling representatives, says Charley Mann, local distributor. This week the agent of the Byron Jackson Iron Works of Los Angeles bought one. To be behind on orders for the coupe is becoming the usual thing, and Mann cannot assure immediate deliveries unless he is given a reasonable time to get the cars.
The Standard Oil Company's Plaza office in the Union Oil Company's Yorba Linda office recently purchased Dodge coupes of Mann.
Sam Schultz this week bought a Dodge sedan.
Among the large concerns in So. Calif., that get the coupe in quantity are the U. S. Rubber Company in Los Angeles, the Chanslor Lyon Company, the Ducommon Hardware Company and various other wholesale houses. Salemen buy Dodge cars in which to make their trips as a matter of course.

VALLECINTO OIL RIGHTS LEASED
Through a contract entered into by the owners of Vallecinto and the Globe Petroleum Corporation, one of the largest refining companies operated in California, the oil rights on that new subdivision have been leased to the Globe company. While it is too early to say when drilling operations will be begun, according to announcement from the offices of Del Forte and Ryerson, yet it is understood that the leasing company intends to drill its first well in the very near future.
In making the announcement of the deal, Mr. E. J. Del Forte said that the lease to the Globe company would have no bearing at all on the plans of the owners of the property for its development along residential lines. When the group of Long Beach capitalists whom the firm is representing as selling agents, acquired the property, Mr. Del Forte said, it was in the full determination to develop it as an up-to-date home community with the lots priced at a figure that would permit investment by persons of moderate means. These plans are to be carried through no matter what may develop from the leasing of the oil rights to the Globe Petroleum Corporation.
It is pointed out by Mr. Del Forte, however, that the contract just entered into has undoubtedly increased the value of the Vallecinto property, since there is a strong belief on the part of geologists and oil experts generally that a valuable new oil field is very likely to be developed in and around Compton. He points to the fact that in the past few weeks there has been very great oil activity in this district, and that apparently well-founded reports persist that showings of oil have been found in the Callender and other wells that are being drilled. It is understood that under the arrangement entered into with the Globe Petroleum Corporation, a well is to be drilled on a selected site just as soon as the necessary machinery can operate.
MEXICO CAN BREAK RUBBER MONOPOLY
BY HARRY L. ROGETS
I. N. S. Staff Correspondent
WASHINGTON, April 7—Rubber as well as oil today became a factor in Mexican recognition as American officials swoke to the possibilities of the southern republic as a means of detaining the British rubber monopoly of the East Indies.
Mexico has a vast area of land suitable for growing several varieties of rubber, and the Mexican government is ready to cooperate with the American experts or American capital in the exploitation of these facilities, according to Manuel Tellez, charged affairs of the Mexican embassy here.
The transplanted India rubber tree grows in abundance in practically the whole of the humid region south of Vera Cruz. Senor Tellez declared the successful operation of a number of plantations there is simple proof of the suitability of the soil and climate.
61 Leading Makers of Cars Use USL Battery
Sixty-one leading snakes of car use the USL battery, says George Ennis of the Automotive Electric Co. Five of the seven auto manufacturers who changed their battery equipment last year changed to USL. No car maker who has used the USL within the last three years has changed for another battery.
A recent canvas by an independent agency of owners of 15 makes of motor cars, equipped with four leading makes of batteries, disclosed a vast public approval of USL—only one other battery sharing equally this remarkable endorsement.
Three times as many automobile owners replaced their batteries with USL in the last six months of 1922 as in the last six months of 1921.
The nation-wide USL service facilities now include more than 5500 CHU
