Comedies — By leaving name and address at the United Theatre box office will be mailed complimentary tickets for this performance.
Fun enough and laughs enough to make water grow in the Sahara desert; fish leap through the sand, lion vault out of the sun-baked wastes as the magic wand brings a fleet Arabian steed on which Ben Turpin gallops madly to rescue his consort. Love and laughter! Thrills aplenty!

On April 17 a hearing is scheduled to received protests on the proposed big building program of La Habra. Central-ave is to be widened to the State highway and Cypress, Walnut and Hiatt-sts and Ocean-ave improved, if the plans are carried out.
The Talbertrd between Talbert and Greenville will be thrown open again tomorrow. The road has been closed while the bridge was being raised and approaches rebuilt.
The re-gravelled boulevard from Yorba Linda east for two miles, accepted this week, is bringing much satisfaction to car owners.
Work was started this week on Chapman and Kraemer-ave east of Placentia, which will be regraded and re-gravelled. E. G. Bragg of Newport Beach is doing the work, which covers ½ miles.
Steele Finley was forced to cease work on Lincoln-ave this week because of the temporary injunction to stop the screening machine he was using in preparing his sand, stone and asphalt. He had reached Cypress.
South-st, Anaheim, just re-gravelled for three-fourths of a mile, is a big improvement.
Good progress is being made on Placentia-ave extension. Asphalt will be laid at the south end within 15 days. The paving from the Ball road to the State highway near the County Hospital is to be concrete.

EXCEPTIONAL CAST IN TALMADGE FILM
The importance of a suitable cast for Norma Talmadge's big production, "The Voice from the Minaret," was realized by Director Frank Lloyd, and as the power behind the casting office he saw to it that the players selected should be able to meet the demands made upon them by their roles. Surrounding Norma Talmadge, therefore, are such favorites as Eugene O'Brien and Edwin Stevens, together with Claire Du Brey, Carl Gerard and Winter Hall. for Norma Talmadge's big production, "The Voice from the Minaret," was realized by Director Frank Lloyd, and as the power behind the casting office he saw to it that the players selected should be able to meet the demands made upon them by their roles. Surrounding Norma Talmadge, therefore, are such favorites as Eugene O'Brien and Edwin Stevens, together with Claire Du Brey, Carl Gerard and Winter Hall.
Frank Lloyd wielded the megaphone as he did in Miss Talmadge's all-costume picture, "The Eternal Flame." Frances Marion adapted the Hichens story to screen form and Stephen Goosson as art director, designed the stupendous sets. Norbert Brodin's fame as a cameraman is well established, and Dr H. R. Maddock, supreme in his knowledge of Mohammedan countries, was in charge of research work. "The Voice from the Minaret," a First National picture, comes to the California Theater starting tomorrow.
SENNETT MOVIE IS RIOTOUS BURLESQUE
Mack Sennett, picture producer must surely get a kick from the prognostications of the so-called wise-acres. These rumor mongers like to tell people that there is a limit to the successes any producer, no matter who he is, can produce. Each time these know-it-all begin to make themselves heard, Sennett comes out with another feature, a comedy drama—subtle satire, melodramatic comedy or a broad comedy with lots of hokum.
Mack Sennet's latest effort is a hilarious comedy burlesque "The Shiek," under the title "The Shriek of Araby". Ben Turpin with his crossed and roving optics, is the Shriek He is ably supported in this new comedy character by Kathlyn McGuire in the leading feminine role, while Georke Cooper, Dick Sutherland, Ray Grey and Louis Pronde, between them, work up the humorous situations which confront "The Shriek of Araby," and coming to the United theater tomorrow.
