This writer was talking on the subject with one who should know something about it—Mr. "Billy" Darnley, the able athletic manager of the Anaheim Athletic Club, and the competent boxing promoter who handles the Tuesday evening boxing bouts at the Anaheim Athletic Clubs' Arena. Darnley understands the vital necessity of keeping the sport clean, both as to the contest, itself, and the reputations of the participants. He has given this "Billy" Damley has always borne himself with gentlemanly conduct. For many years he lived in San Francisco, and let it be said that all of his work in connection with boxing in that city was of the highest order, honest, fair and cleanly. Other places in this state have had the benefits of Darnley's promotions and there is no place at which he engaged himself that does not boxing promoter who handles the Tuesday evening boxing bouts at the Anaheim Athletic Clubs' Arena. Darnley understands the vital necessity of keeping the sport clean, both as to the contest, itself, and the reputations of the participants. He has given this matter a good deal of serious study and with a keen determination he has adopted certain rules and well thought out procedures, in order that clean sport may predominate wherever he has any part to play in it. Darnley knows that at sometime or other, reprehensible forces will creep into the boxing game, and it is his constant desire that these forces will be routed and the sport to continue on, as he would have it continue. Much credit is due this good citizen and promotor for his better influence on all boxing contests that are staged under his direction. It is said that the audience at the boxing contests at the Anaheim Athletic Club's arena, is no inconsiderable rank above the average assembly to be found in boxing arenas elsewhere. You can thank Darnley for that—he deals in clean and honest sport and all classes go to his bouts.
