MUCH GLASSWARE USED BY ARMIES BEKLIN—A lot of wine has been consumed by the French, British, Belgian and American troops occupying the Rhine Valley, if the amount of glassware used by them, as stated officially before the Reichstag by Deputy Stuecklen, is any indication. Between autumn, 1920, and last summer the Armies of Occupation, according to Steucklen, requisitioned 72,000 Rhine wine glasses, 51,000 claret glasses, 115,000 port wine glasses, 45,000 champagne glasses, 58,000 liquor glasses, 26,000 beer glasses and 9000 wine decanters. Altogether 276,000 glasses were provided. In the same period 8900 coffee sets, 4300 tea sets, 36,000 tea cups and 36,000 coffee cups were purchased by the German government for the use of the Allied troops.
