FANS BRAVE COLD TO SEE FINE CARD EXCEPTING WINDUP
(By Sargum Sprout)
Two things kept the fistic exchange at the sugar factory arena last night from being the best ever; the stoves, three weeks over due, did not arrive and the main event was a frost or got frosted. The atmosphere was loaded with icicles and the big crowd was uncomfortably cold throughout the show.
In the curtain raiser, Johnny Nandes ran into some still opposition in Jack Mooney of Garden Grove. Jack was able to give Johnny just as much as he received and won a draw decision. After the boys warmed up it was a good fight.
Al Reese subbing for Battling Dotty, staged one of the ding bustest slugging bees ever staged here with a slat from Oklahoma answering to Earl Lane. Lane has a powerful left jab that upset the El Modena battler in the first round and gave Lane the margin. Reece evened matters in the second by a clean knock down. The third was even. Lane had a good lead in the fourth. Both men were worse for ware. The pride of Elmodena was a sorry sight from a badly mushed up mouth and nose. The judges gave the verdict as a draw. To our way of thinking the slat from the wilds was entitled to the honors.
Joe Chaney used Babe Orton for a punching bag in the third fight. Chaney was far too fast for the Indian, but while he got too knockdowns, could not put the red man out. In the 1st round Chaney landed 51 to 13, 2nd round 61 to 13, 3rd round 70 to 7 and in the last round 79 to 3. That is some punching for one man to give out and another to take.
Tommy Montaya got back into harness with Young McCarter of Santa Ana in an extra bout. Tommy
JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BEATEN BY KATELLA
An aggregation of girl basketball players from Katella school, defeated Junior H. S. girls yesterday, 18 to 17 on the latter's field. Lots of good material was displayed and the girls were excellent in their team work. Marle Noll of Anaheim H. S. referred the game.
MABEE WORKS WITH U. OF C. WRESTLER
(By Sargum Sprout)
Roy Mabee worked out at the Elks Gym this afternoon. A California U man wished to see what a real wrestler is made of. Tomorrow morning Roy works out a Cypress.
Santel has arrived in Los Angeles and has gone into active training. Ad brought a couple of San Francisco huskies to condition him. Ad fully realizes the importance of the coming go.
Tommy was given the high sign and deserved it. This was a dinger of a bout.
Kid Louie and Benny Heller put up the feature of the evening. Both these boys are chain lightning and carry a powerful wallop. Benny got a knockdown to his credit in the last round but needed it as Louie got up and fought Benny to an even break. If Louie had followed up in the last minutes I believe he would have knocked Benny out. Anyway, it was a whale of a fight and the draw decision was all O. K.
The main event was a frost. Kid Mexico tried to make a fight of it but Cyclone Williams was too good at hanging on. Cyclone showed a flash or two of form but soon wilted. Mexico got the decision.
It was too bad that Mexico did not have a chance to display his real ability. This bout left a nasty taste in the fan's mouths as they were cold and uncomfortable to begin with and this poor ending will cause the ex-

CALTON WILL PLAY
BALL HERE SUNDAY
Intent on making up for last Sunday's defeat at Pasadena, the local Merchants will clash with the fast Colton team on the city park diamond Sunday afternoon.
The locals should have defeated Pasadena last Sunday and they know it. Because of the rainy weather, it had not been considered the game would be played and the Merchants didn't arrive at Brookside park in time for practice. In fact the game was started before all the Anaheimers were in uniform, with the result the batting order was considerably twisted around. The only hope now is that Santa Monica and Pasadena each lose another game, putting them on an equal footing with the locals who are confident they could walk away with either team in a playoff. If this unlikely circumstance doesn't occur, it is probable the locals will arrange a post-season series of three or five games with their ancient enemies from Pasadena.
Anaheim has the best team in its history and shouldn't have lost either of the two games chalked against the Merchants in the percentage column.

Anaheim Girls Lead For County Honors
Anaheim girls basketball team is in the lead for the county championship honors. They have remained undefeated, while each of the other schools has lost one or two games. Fullerton will run a close race with Anaheim this year for honors, having defeated Tustin and Huntington Beach and lost to Anaheim. Orange has dropped into third place with Santa Ana. Anaheim and Orange played for first place last year.
The teams are all evenly matched and it is a matter of team work and speed as to who will come out first.
FULLERTON GIRLS WIN
Fullerton H. S. girls' first basketball team defeated the Marborough team yesterday afternoon at Los Angeles 14 to 14 in a practice game. Fullerton girls playing were Emma Johnson, Margaret McFadden, Thelma Green, Florence Carpenter, Lois Muzzal, Margaret Yorba, Marjorie Brown, Beatrice Lang, Isabel Dunlap and Mary Rothaermel.
SELL TICKETS HERE FOR PASADENA GAME
Harlan Hall, publicity manager, for Tournament of Roses Ass'n, has authorized C. of C. Secretary Fraser to accept checks in payment of tickets for New Year's game at the new stadium in Pasadena. The game will be played between Penn State and the U. of S. C. and permanent holders of stadium seats and boxes will take man seats. Tickets will be $1.65, $2.75 and $5.50, same as last year. These prices include war tax. A limited number of box seats at $5.50 and $6.60 are also available.
The first instructions were that local people must buy their tickets at Pasadena, beginning Dec. 13 at 9 o'clock, but Mr. Hall now promises to follow the same plan here as was pursued last year, excepting that all requests should be in the hands of the local secretary not later than 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14th.
