PLAYAWHILE IS SUITABLE NAME CHOSEN FOR CLUB "PLAYAWHILE" a very suitable name for a card club was selected last evening by a coterie of players who were entertained by Dr. and Mrs. C. P. Tempkins. Mrs. Tempkins had her rooms pretty fixed up with varied colored chrysanthemums. A smartly appointed luncheon was enjoyed after the games. The Thanksgiving color motif was carried out. Prize winners for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Collings and Mr. Wm. P. Webb. Playing together were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Collings, Mr. and Mrs. S. N. White, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. P. Webb, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Jack Colvin, Santa Ana, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Akerman and Dr. and Mrs. C. P. Tempkins. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shipkey, also members of the club, were unable to attend last evening. Select More Directors The business and professional women's club, has now elected it's executive board and at a meeting of the board tonight, will draw up programs of the weekly meetings. Seven more directos elected at yesterday's meeting are Alice Robinson, Virginia Dulin, Marjorie Rains, Grace Burgess, Elizabeth Calnon, Mabel Hathaway, and Evelyn Degryse. Misses Blanch Mickle and Irene Jacques were elected last week. Other officials are Lucy A. Wood, president; Margaret Hampton, 1st vice president; Lucille Bickler, 2nd vice president; Agnes Weber corresponding secretary; Carrie Lou Sutherland, recording secretary; Adelaide Goodson, treasurer; Alice Pannier, auditor. Chairmen for different activities were also appointed and action will start within several days. Miss Lucil Dickley, coach of the high school will have charge of dramatics. Surprise Birthday Dinner Upon returning home last evening, Mr. J. F. Jenkins, of South Helenast., was surprised to find a company of about 45 of his friends, members of Calvary Baptist church, awaiting him. The occasion was in celebration of his birthday. An evening of games, amusements and a social time was enjoyed, and the presentation of a token of their friendship made the honorace happy. An excellent lunchcon was served later. Earlier in the evening a dinner at his home was enjoyed by a small company of guests, among them being Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson, Mabel Wilson and Harry Wilson, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Rollo W. Cornell and Delphine Gwendoline and Rollo S. Cornell. Special Players Meeting A special meeting of the Community Players of Anaheim has been called for this evening in the Lexington salesrooms. All the members are urgently requested to be there, as important business has come up, requiring immediate attention. The two one-act plays which are rehearsed are coming along nicely and will be ready for presentation, Dec. 12, one in the afternoon before the Parent-Teacher Association, and repeated in the evening when the other will be given. Interest in the Christmas play is also at a high point and Anaheim Community Players are going into the business like veterans. Music Sec. at Seitz Home Attention of the members of the Music section of the Ebell club is called to the fact that by special invitation the meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Seitz, of 620 North Zeyn-st Monday afternoon at 2:30. An interesting program has been prepared, both in ancient and futurist music. Mrs. Seitz and Mrs. Walter Ross will contribute to the program. B.I.L.T. ARE HOSTS AT DINNER AND THEATRE PARTY NOT to be outdone in hospitality by their better halves, the B. I. L.'s (meaning brother-in-laws) of the P. E. O. chapter entertained Chapter BP with a dinner and theatre party last evening. The dinner was served at the Elks club, 35 covers being placed. The table was appropriately adorned with baskets of white carnations, tied with yellow tule, in deference to the sisterhood colors, yellow and white. J. S. Ward acted as toastmaster, and short talks were contributed by C. C. Smith, J. L. Vander Veer, E. C. Rundstrum, Charles H. Mann, F. T. Edmiston and the Mesdames C. G. Smith, Van der Veer and Edmiston. After dinner the company heard the radio concert in the perior, and later enjoyed a theatre party at the California. Participating were the Messrs and Mesdames J. S. Ward, Charles H. Mann, F. T. Edmiston, D. D. Waynick, J. L. Van der Veer, S. R. Walters, W. Max Drake, H. B. Parsons, H. M. Peterson, R. B. Younga, E. C. Rundstrum, J. K. Langdon, George Rice, C. C. Smith; Mrs. W. W. Manter and the Misses Bella Walker, Dana Waynick, Josephine and Beverly Smith. Galsworthy Plays Discussed At the home of Mrs. F. G. Peck the Ebell Dramatic section met yesterday to give an afternoon to the plays of John-Galsworthy, whose works are so popular today. An article read by Mrs. G. M. Simpson on the play, "Loyalty," and a review of "Fraternity," by Mrs. C. C. Smith and Mrs. Chamberlain quite thoroughly covered both. Mrs. T. L. De Cew, who had witnessed a performance of "The Skin Game," recently, told her impressores at the Plain Dealer. Local Ladies at Tea Mrs. George N. Nolan, Fullerton, formerly of Anaheim most graciously entertained with a tea, at her beautiful jungalow on Brookdale ave.Fullerton Wednesday. Embroidery work and embasting formed the diversions for the afternoon hours.A most delicious luncheon was prepared by the gracious hostess. Among the guests were Mrs. C. Holiday Dinners Fruits The Home Missionary society of the White Temple will dispense cheer to the residents of the many homes in the state where they have sent boxes of canned fruit to be enjoyed with the Thanksgiving dinners and on subsequent days of special account.In the contributions received this week the donations amounted to 88 quarts of canned fruit and 51 quarts of jellies and jams.More fruit has been promised, which will be held in reserve for distribution prior to the holiday week. Honeymooners Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. Harold G.Ward, of Morgan Hill, Calif., are guests of Mr. and Mrs.B.L.Harpster, during their honeymoon.Mr. and Mrs.Ward who were married Saturday, are touring the southern part of the state,and will go from Anaheim to San Diego and other points.Mr.Ward is a brother of Mrs.Harpster They will return to Morgan Hill to reside,where Mr.Ward has large ranching interests. After the business session four candidates will be initiated. The birthday hostesses, the Mesdames Matilda Chambers, Nettie Abrams, Ida Meekes, Emma Gust, Emily Thessner, Flora Peck and Katherine Gliss, will serve refreshments. A full attendance is expected. Enjoyable Y. P. Dance The dance and five hundred party given last evening at the K. of C. hall by the Young people's society of the Catholic church was a very nice affair with a good time was had by all. Five hundred was payed the early part of the evening at which prizes were won by Misses Theresa Raamueller and Margaret Nibler and the gentlemen's prize went to B. L. Smith and Tony Hund. Dancing to a peppy orchestra was the diversion for the remaining hours. Refreshments were served. Dance at Long Beach A jolly party of young folk including Misses Philura Sparkles, Evelyn Degryse and Hazel Rainey, the Messrs Jack Clemmens, Billie Matter and George Vermillion motored to Long Beach last evening where they enjoyed dancing. Base Ball Benefit Anahelm K. of C.'s will entertain with a benfit dance Wednesday evening Nov. 23 at K of C. hall to which the public is cordially invited. The dance will be staged for the K. of C. baseball team. Good music with good refreshments are on the program.
