CRACK BOXING SHOW
HERE FRI. EVENING
THAT Manager Billy Darnley of the local Palais de Swat is going to treat his fans to a bung-up boxing show from soup to nuts tomorrow night is the conclusion reached today by fans hereabouts. Its appears beyond a doubt that Impressario Billy has secured for his weekly offering just about the sweetest it'll ever be offered at the Arena on the sugar factory grounds since the doors where thrown open last June.
For the feature event Darnley has a bout listed between two middleweights that is bound to be a dinger. Harry Lee, of Huntington Beach, and a youth of color answering to the ferocious name of 'One Round' Andrews, are the two mentioned and from the records of both men, and by the manner in which they have been training, one would think that a world's championship is at stake.
Lee is somewhat of a sensation here in local boxing circles. He has had but few fights in his brief career but has shown a world of class. Andrews is the more experienced of the two but, he will find in the husky Beach lad most formidable opponent. Huntington Beach is coming up strong to foot for Lee and cheer him onto victory. Andrews, also, will not lack for followers has a good many of his home town boosters have signified the intention of accompanying him. It ought to be a whale of a scrap while it lasts and there is no telling how long that will be as both boys are the processors of a wicked wailop.
The semi-windup, between 'Batting Johnny' McGraw and 'Fighting Joe' García is also down on the card for a slashing affair. McGraw's defeat of that good little boy, Packy McMullen, last Friday night, has bosted the youngster's stock considerable and if he gets by García O. K. he will be in line for a main event shortly. García is from Santa Barbara and was one of Darnley's old stablemates when Billy was the big gun up there in 'fight circles'. He is a flashy performer and a hard-
FOOTBALL MASCOT DIES PEACEFULLY
Poor old "Pat" mascot of the Anaheim H. S. football team, turned up her toes today. Art Mann acted in the capacity of undertaker. "Pat," or Cleopatra as she was first dubbed when high school boys garnered her, a Catalina goat, apparently didn't like the Anaheim brand of tin-cans, said Henry Tipton, groundkeeper at the high school today. That's the only reason he could assign for her sudden demise. Confidentially tincans are about all she could find to eat after Tipton gets thru scraping that football-field.
Mole-skin wearers, however, are not worrying about her sudden release from this sphere.
"At any rate, nobody else has our goat," say they.
U. S. C.-ARIZONA FOOTBALL SATURDAY
John Hawkins of Fullerton, H. S. fame in the football days has been elected to do the kicking for U. S. at the U. S. C.-Arizona game Satur-
The semi-windup, between 'Battling Johnny' McGraw and 'Fighting Joe' Garcia is also down on the card for a slashing affair. McGraw's defeat of that good little boy, Packy McMullen, last Friday night, has bosted the youngster's stock considerable and if he gets by Garcia O. K. he will be in line for a math event shortly. Garcia is from Santa Barbara and was one of Darnley's old stablemates when Billy was the big gun up there in 'fight circles'. He is a flamy performer and a hard-hitter and as Mac is the same type of fighter their set-to is bound to be a real mixup.
In the preliminaries, some rare action is promised for Manager Darnley has picked the crest of his stable for the doings. Toby Montoya, the Placentia banty, has a tough nut to crack in Art Springer, the little soldier boy from Ross Field and it will be a big feather in his cap if he so much as holds Springer even. It should be a snappy affair.
Young Terry and Kid Weber, a couple of hard-hitting 142-pounders, will make a big hoose and as both are heavy sockers, some one is apt to take a nap before the four rounds are over.
All Brea is expected over to see their pet middleweight, Bill Brady in action against clever Max Ryan of Shanta Ann. This will undoubtedly be a red hot fracas as both are big, huky fellows with a real punch.
Danny Herorrna of Fullerton will make his second start when he hooks with Charley Dement of Atwood, in the first bout on the bill and they should start the fireworks off right as they are both willing mixers.
Darnley is looking forward to the biggest house in the clubs brief exaltence for there has been a brisk demand for tickets. They may be secured at the United Cigar Store, 123 W. Center-st, or Phone 153.
After being closed practically all summer, due principally to strike conditions, the Gate City Club will make an effort to start the boxing game again. Mr. Andy Bruhlin, of San Bernardino, well known sportsman, is the new promoter. Mr. Brublin has turned his big dance pavilion into a modern boxing arena and tonight he will throw his doors open for the initial performance with a bang-up card of bouts. The location is considered an ideal one being right across the road from Urbita Springs Park, about a mile from the heart of town.
Jerry McCarthy, formerly the physical instructor of the Elks club in the Gate City is to be the Matchmaker for the new club. Jerry is an old head at the boxing game and under his management, the club ought to go over big. It is understood that Billy Darnley of the local club was offered the management of the new club there, but as Billy puts it, he is too fond of his Anaheim to leave and alltho, the cans are about all she could find to eat after Tipton gets thru scraping that football field.
S. C. at the U. S. C.-Arizona game Saturday on Bovard Field. Coach Gus Henderson, has a revenge to pay to Arizona and will give them a good walloping. The southern team defeated the Henderson trojans last year 7 to 0 and the score and the battle this year will be to reverse this sum.
U. S. C. is in fairly good shape, although the line-up is somewhat crippled. "Babe" Calland, 200 pounder and captain of the outfit is held up with a wrenched shoulder. Johnny Boyle is on the sick list, and Swede Anderson will have to stand on the side line and watch his fellow men play.
Arizona has about the same line-up as last year and all in excellent shape.
Otto Anderson, another crack kicker will be ready to sail the oval through the air if called up, but Coach "Gloomy Gus" will depend almost entirely upon the merits of John Hawkins from Fullerton way.
FOOTBALL STAR OUT OF GAME FOR YEAR
Raymond "Honey" Earl of Fullerton whom all Anaheim football stars know, is at his home suffering from injuries to his left foot to the extent of a broken bone, sustained during a practise skirmage at U. of C. where he has been attending school this term. He will be confined to his home for some time and will not be able to play the popular game thru the remainder of the season.
He was one of the star players on the Fullerton squad and was occupying the same position at the University.
NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN NIGHT CLASS
In reply to various inquiries from the public, instructor F. R. Schiller said today that it is not too late to join the beginners Spanish class at the evening high school. Extra help would gladly be given to new comers. This class is held every Tuesday and Friday, 7 to 8 p.m.

Situated as it is, on main paved highway, and being solid to beautiful, thrifty, uniform Valencia oranges with ideal soil and water conditions, we highly recommend this particular orchard as being fully equal to any other in this entire section of the same age, and there are many orchards no better than this that cannot be purchased for $6000 or more an acre.
